@grizzleybearz282004 Lionel is totally missing the boat with their Trainsound tender....worse is it's now included in the stand alone PE berkshire from the 2011 catalogue...why could they not upgrade it to RS is beyond me.

Great train. You made me buy one this year! I traded out the standard tender with the trainsounds tender, which for me, is also not cutting it as you mentioned. Which railsounds tender did you use to swap out the shell with? I thought all the good sound with railsounds tenders came from the TMCC control units, but I guess not. Also, how do you get this loco to smoke in neutral? You mentioned a "mega smoke" fluid that you use, is that the only difference, a better fluid? Thanks, I'm learning....

@TheOceandreams89 Hello..hope you're very happy with this train...I used the Railsound tender from the NKP freight set # 6-31962 from 2004...TMCC do not offer better Railsound just access to more on high end engine...as for the smoke in neutral, have the transformer on fairly high voltage (not maximum) and don't leave it like that for to long..will burn the smoke unit..10 minutes is fine not hours...the use of Mega Steam is highly recommended

I have the exact same set with a model 6-36847 tender and my whistle sounds quite different then yours. I was wondering, is it because of the video or do you have a different model? (This is actually for my younger brother who is completely obsessed with trains, so if you could please answer this that would be great ) Thank You

absolutely not...Lionel is 3 rails AC Ogauge and Bachmann are either N, HO, G and all run on 2 rails dc.

I have this same one. I love it when it is in neutral when the smoke pours out. Looks very cool. Mine does not have sound but it does have a realistic whistle on the coal car.

since Lionel is mostly sold in North America..your best bet being in Greece is to check Ebay or some large Lionel retailer like CharlesRO, Charlie Nassau or Trainz, they do ship overseas but shipping is very expensive and don't forget that being an North American product the transformer is 110v and in Europe you need 220v so you have to buy and extra one locally...some folks in England have done it but it cost

as mentioned previously this is not the sound from the original Polar Express, added a different body in the tender to do the sound....sound is nice but can get pretty annoying after a while...even with my other engine I usually turn the sound off after a while

No the little marker green lights can't be turned off separately..in fact the lights are always on. Yes you need a special fluid for the smoke unit..DON"T USE COOKING OIL OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER...only smoke fluid can be used for model trains...some come with the set and bigger bottle and different brands are available at the hobby shop..some are even scented. And YES this train will last for a long long time with some care and easy maintenance

I got a question, how did you get your PE to give out a huge amount of smoke, like how many drops ?

I use JT Mega Smoke liquid....the number of drops don't increase the smoke output.

JT Mega Smoke is available in at least 20 differents scents and it's the best smoke fluid out there.

Question, how many passenger cars total are there for this set?

I know the standard set has 3, but you can buy more to add to the train [namely the one w/the 'waiters' or the 2nd car in this video]. I'm wondering what other cars there are.

well beside the hot chocolate car there are 2 more, a baggage car and a diner car.

And there is a new one coming out this year (fall 2008) a coach with conductor announcement.

This one gonna be a hot item...pre-order it as soon as you can if you want one for 08

Do you swap the shell with a railsound tender or did you move the guts of a RS tender over to the PE tender?

just swapped the shell....the screw don't fit, but hold pretty well together. Still waiting for a real Railsound Polar tender, the newly released Trainsound one didn't cut it for me
