  • not only are these cars fast... they handle very well for a luxury sedan. I took mine down my fave road. It is a 25 mile stretch of twisted road with fast sections also. 18 minutes

    What a great ride!!!!

  • Solid car, love the engine noise :)

  • @punchmaster123 that's not even a little true...

  • Aurora is a mark viii knock off...

  • Your car should be able to get up to a much higher speed faster. Mine is bone stock and hits 130 pretty quick. But you don't get much for gas mileage at that speed lol

  • I own from new a '98 Aurora, special ordered by me because of the FE3 "Autobahn Package" which consists of V-rated Michelin Pilot tires,EEC programmed for 139MPH top end,and 3.71:1 final drive instead of 3.48:1.Performance and fuel economy are very good as are the ride, handling, comfort and quietness to enjoy the Bose Acoustimass stereo. My only gripe is too little low end torque for quick takeoff in city traffic, but on the road it grabs hard for that 139MPH!Aurora ruled the IRL,was never beaten!!

  • More features would be the SS badge on the body panels, the body would be lowered 2 inches all around, with 3 inch wider wheels and tires front and rear. The Wheels would be 20 inches in diameter with optional finishes (Chrome, Matte, "color matching," black, etc). Let me know what you all think about what I just described about an aurora that may never exist.

  • I drive an '03 Aurora 4.0 and I feel that there are only 2 fails with this car. The single exhaust pipe with Y-pipe running under the car and the 4-speed transmission. Hear me out on this. Everyone knows the 3.5L V6 and 4.0L V8. How about the Aurora SS? The engine would be a turbocharged 4.0L Northstar V8 pushing 400hp and 450 lb-ft of torque (15 psi of boost on the turbo) with an optional 5-speed manuel transmission and magnaflow exhaust running from the headers to the mufflers. (NEXT COMMENT)

  • Not bad but a better choice would've been a 4.6 or 4.9 maybe even an L67 since it produces more torque than the 4.0

  • Everybody always says how slow these cars are. If you actually drive one you find out that they may not be quick 0-60 but from about 70 to 80 on these cars pull great. They don't really have any fade in power. I have pegged the speedometer in my '98 a couple of times without too much trouble.

  • @codymiller1994 yeah my 98 touched 135 and started to run out of road.

  • @codymiller1994 I was once in one of these and it spun the tires in the rain at 70mph, we took it up to 130 but it seemed to get there awfully quick. Maybe it was because I was a passenger but it seemed quicker than this but is the same spec.

  • @TDIAWD Wow.....I am impressed that it spun the tires at 70 mph. Was it coming in between gears when they spun or was it just straight up accelerating when they spun?

  • @codymiller1994 It was my friends sisters car at the time so he picked us up and drove the piss out of it. I believe he turned the traction control off and just nailed it, it spun for like 2 seconds and straight got with it. Again when up to speed these things are nasty quick.

  • i'd love to plant that motor in an alero

  • 10 seconds to 60???? thats not right....cut off that cat and giv her some breathing room, maybe a k&N filter? cat back 3 inch?? YAAAAH

  • @alexbishop94 or a Geo Metro!

  • @alexbishop94 or a geo metro!

  • nice, but my v6 Olds intrigue does the same. Not for long though.... im ready to smoke anyone.

  • What's it top out at?

  • nice sound :)

  • damn that thing sounds good :)

  • decent I guess. its not the slowest car I've seen but its not fast either.

  • @watso64 of course it's not going to be very fast, it's still impressive that it can accelerate like that with 250 hp 260 lb-ft of torque, while weighing just under 5000 lbs. That's fucking impressive in my book

  • @insanityawakens Just under 5000 lbs?!?

Um, no, it actually weighs almost exactly 3800 lbs. Its FWD platform helps keep the weight a bit lower... Still a pretty hefty car.

  • @insanityawakens The Aurora weighs under 4k pounds. Doesn't change your point, just saying...

  • @UABBlazers87 I`ve known that since about 4 months after I posted that comment, but thanks for the imput :)

  • i love the aurora...:) but i totally just beat the crap out of one, w/my car...i thougth id lose, i mean cmon, a 4.0L V8, 250 horse, 260 torque against my Ford probe GT w/a 5 spd manual 2.5L V6, with 164 Horses and 160 torque... i beat him, from start till the aurora governed at 110 i was a car length ahead as soon as i got out of first gear...:) i was a happy guy

  • @terminator868

Auroras are heavy as shit, and you have to remember, the Aurora has luxury, Probe doesn't. If you buy an Aurora you don't just buy a tank engine, you buy a nice car.

  • @terminator868 i would be happy too if i beat a luxury car with a sub-compact sports car. Gotta say though i know what you felt that day. When i was 14 my dad had a 1989 Ford Probe GT Turbo. now THAT was a fast sports car! 17 lbs of boost and a mid 13 second car from the factory!

  • @insanityawakens not true

  • @insanityawakens not true no probes were getting 13's from the factory. cmon now.

  • @losercust Dude my dad was pulling high 13s regularily in his '89 Probe GT Turbo, which he bought from someone who babied it. granted i'm not sure if he put any performance parts on it, but i'm a big car geek and i never noticed any mods on it. 17 lbs of boost from the factory is impressive though for an afforable sports car.

  • GM should have put in the 4.6 275-300hp northstar in this, I have a 2005 pontiac bonneville GXP with the 4.6 and its alot faster

  • @Carfreak1177 You gotta remember though, the pontiac bonneville isn't as much of a luxury car as the oldsmobile aurora. Just letting you know

  • @insanityawakens not the normal one but A GXP bonneville is, its got stabilatrak, heads up display, leather seats with heated swade inserts, sunroof, monsoon 8 speaker stereo, cadillac magnasteer system, auto load leveling shocks, thats all I can think of off the top of my head, its got alot more. Im not saying the olds is not a luxury car but the bonni GXP version is a better buy thats why I bought one :)

  • @Carfreak1177 Yeah the GXP Bonneville copied the Olds Aurora, thats why it has the Aurora seats everything the Aurora had. It is based off of the Aurora's G platform. The Oldsmobile wanted their own engine not the same one Cadillac produces, plus it won the indy 500 5 consecutive years. Plus the Aurora had many things standard. Plus stabiltrak is an Olds invention.

  • @Myaurora2001 It did not copy the olds. oldsmobile died before the GXP bonni came out in 05, and the aurora and bonni have allways had the same platform the bonni had a all new platform shared with the lesaber in 01" the aurora is like the saab 9-5 the interior is like the same. The olds is a great car im not saying its not by any means but the bonni has everything the olds. came with and more power. AND the oldsmobiles engine isnt different, its still a cadillac engine just a smaller northstar.

  • @Carfreak1177 The bonnie and Aurora did not always shared the same platform. For 1995-1999 model years shared it with the Buick Riveria, and it was closer to the Cadillac Seville and Deville. In 2000 was when the Bonnieville, lesabre, Parkaveneu, Seville and the Aurora was all based on the, original Aurora platform.

  • @Myaurora2001If you look at an GXp bonneville vs an 01-03 Aurora it has the same seats, same cockpit design, and was supposed to make up the lost of the Aurora. Plus that is why it had the northstar engine in it. The Aurora engine is different they tinkered with it so it can be unique. Was almost the expensive engine designed and to produce. And no car company can take Oldsmobile place because of its rich history.

  • Probably the only GM sedan I ever liked. This car came loaded with tons of features and technology for 2001 and because of the rather bad resale values this car was a steal pre owned. All this car really needed to exploit the power and torque it had was a 5 speed auto vs the 4 speed.

  • the Vettes had 300 bhp in 1995, same engine as found in the Caprice and Impala SS but tuned differently (for more torque down low)

  • I LOV THE NORTHSTAR V8's THEY THROW IN THEM

  • Fuck, this car really is something. I drive a Sunfire, with the 2.4L Twin Cam L4, and it took me like forever just to reach the 110 mph! D:

  • Had one. Most expensive-to-maintain car I ever owned. Over $8K in repairs in 4 years. But I loved it so....only car I ever felt completely safe in at 100mph. Tranny went at 110K miles. $4300 to fix...car was only worth $2K. Donated it.

  • Yeah there is some little gremlins and if ALL sensors are NOT working right then the car can get fussy ...but... Tonight I stuck right with a COBALT SS from 60 km per hour right up to 160 km per hour... NO PROBLEM

  • POS AURORAS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS.

  • IRAMURDOG I dont think you realize Aurora is a fast car for being a sedan in 1996. It was the only Sedan ever used for racing.

  • what joke any car can do that speed

  • My 95 Roadmaster would put this thing to shame. What a slug

  • hahahaha not even close man that comment makes me laugh

  • dude your 95 roadmaster also has a corvette engine....

  • what does a 4.0 v8 aurora do in the 1/4 without anything rele put in it. is it slow?

  • @KingOfKool182 they run mid - high 14's maybe 14.5 with intake and exhaust mods.

  • thats really slow

  • Thanks for the comment.I get sick of all these know it all mommys boys and thier hand me down junk trying to act like they got something. If my 4.0 olds is not enough,I can pull out the 82 cutty 455 and give them a taste of what a olds bog block can do.later.

  • i can do better in my 3.5 olds

  • whats your top speed? i have an aurora 3.5 v6 and i can get it up to 125-130 mph. lookin to upgrade to the v8 ya know the ones that come with a pussy magnet =p

  • What kind of exhaust do you have on there? It sounds awesome.

  • prolly stock the 4.0s have alot of bark when u step it down

  • I have one and they are not slow. i love them on the interstate if you want to get around someone these are great for it

  • hey nice vid,

do you think you could make another one showing the tach and the speedometer?

i would like to see what kinda rpm's it does ....................thx.

  • i´ve drove faster with my 1990 volvo 745 GLT

  • volvo's do not sound this good though! so go whine to someone else! And i used to work for a volvo parts distributer, and these things would alway fly through the replacement turbos, and electrical problems out the ass.because they are engineered so well you know.

  • Volvo's are not even dependable. And my 2001 has, replacement cams, intake, exhaust, and dyno tuned pcm,so i will gladly give your swedish meatball a ass woopin it wont forget.oh yeh, mine is aurora 4.0.

  • @KJBPj A dyno tuned PCM? Hmmmm if that wasnt next to impossible than I might believe your claims. And since you have no vids up...I can not believe your claims what so ever. As for cams....doubt that one too. The aurora motors are not something you can simply tear down and rebuild. Intake? unless its CAI than why even brag? The L47 is not a motor to be built up. Hate to burst your bubble.

  • is it just me lance or do the second grs seem a little slower than first gens on a WOT pull pass 80mph>?

  • First off, the gears are not "slower". And 2nd the only reason you think that is because your so used to your moms aurora with a hidden supercharger.

  • make another one and bury the speedometer for us next time :)

  • its probably limited on this one. but correct me if im wrong. impressive mileage though.

  • Actually the second gen 4.0's didnt have a limiter, except I think it was 147 or something close to that

  • I just looked it up. They have the first gen Autobahn gearing standard (3.71 to 1) and was limited to 135. Also had H rated tires standard. Still impressive, it could outrun my first gen!

  • Ya they are supposably a lil quicker off the line, IDK though cause I've never ran one

  • me either but i would like to. its the newer technology talking, but im sure the autobahn first gens have close if not the same jump off the line as the second gens. im more about looks anyways so i prefer the classics

  • 2nd gens are much lighter with same power so probably
