yes, but I choose 335i because it is newer and they both sell for the same price. For under 25k you can get aether one. Unfortunately M3 will come with over 100k and will be 7-8 years old, while 335 can be under 50k miles and be from 2007 e the year. M3 with over 100k will need some work to be done and it will not have the luxury of 335 which is loaded with fun. I drive the e46 and I wish I can trade of on e92

I'm not going to knock the M3, as it's the car I'd prefer... however, any turbocharged car is extremely easy to extract more power from. It is far more expensive and far less effective in a normally aspirated car. However what you don't get with a turbo charged car is the sound.

Clearly you no how to launch your M3, and this gets you the win.

The M3's power band is above 5.5k to redline, meaning thrashing it is the only way.

On the 335i the power is from 1.4k to 5.6k meaning a better power dilivery, and would be the better road car. On the road you in your M3 would have to drop 1 cog prob even 2 cogs, by this time buy buy M3.

With a simple 335i tune costing £400 this 335i would be in the 380+ bracket, as for the M3 it would give 10bhp more meaning 350ish at best.

M3s are faster in a straight line, around a track, and handles better. has better gear ratios, lighter weight, more rigid chassis, and a more aggressive power band. and it looks better too. 335s are built and produced at bmw's regular manufacturing plants, whereas m3's are built in bmw's special M division plant with a whole lot more focus and care. M cars are produced in limited quantities. 335s aren't. I see way more 335s now on the road than m3s.

I think stock vs stock they are probably dead even in straight lines. But thats just staight. I test drove both of them before i got the 335 coupe and they both felt fast but the M3 was defitnitley a performance car with crazy steering response and more sporty. The 335 had power on ALL power bands and the tourque is no joke. I choose 335 cuz of daily driving. OFFNOTE: It cost $20k for HPF turbo on the M3 to make it super fast and cost $5000 MAX on 335 with chip=1300$ and pipings and etc rest

Here are some of the reasons why the 335i lost

1. That M3 has an Intake so its not stock

2. The m3 has probably a SMG or Manual Transmission

3. 335i has an Automatic Transmission(autos are slower then manual and of course SMG)

I dont know about that Motor trend tested the 2006 M3 Competition Package. 0-60 4.8 1/4 mile 13.5. That looks like the same thing they say the 335 does and it's been provin in videos. 335i has more Torque. The M3 has more HP. But remember folks, the GEARING on the M3 is MUCH more agressive. 8000rpms and the powerband climbs non-stop unlike the 335i whereas the power curve drops after 5000rpms. The M3 also weighs less than the 335i. HP and TQ isn't the only aspect that determines acceleration. Any true car enthusiast should know that.

I agree that HP and TQ aren't the only factors that affect the acceleration. Another time the M3 proved to be faster. I believe the Turbo in the 335 fools their owners...by making them believe it's faster than a M3. As I said before the M3 was built to have power, to be a lightweight car(considering the other BMW 3-series), to handle better and to be more responsive than the other 3 series. Because it's carries the M badge meaning it needs to be fast!

Another thing about the 335i is that it is a turbo (unlike the m3 which is N/A), so at the start their is a turbo lag. Meaning before the turbos kick in it only has around 240hp coming from the 3.0ltr engine.

too bad the 335i looks like a Honda Accord coupe. the m3 is just sexy as hell. I'd take it over a 335i any day of the week. The new m3 isn't much better. what happened to BMW styling??

Its an Auto with paddle shifters. We raced again 2 days ago 4 times. Same results. M3 was ahead by 4-5 car lengths by mid 4th gear.

You have been terribly mis-informed. Stock for stock, the M3 is 3-4 car lengths faster. I've proven it over and over.
