Oh my....phase units. Packed tightly together, almost like row houses. But those were the kinds of homes everyone wanted to build in the late 70s to early 80s. Complete with white or pink bathrooms and wall to wall carpeting. Yuk!
@94IAW because there was a movie shot at that location back in the ' 80's and they had to make it prettier so it won't have an ordinary / casual look which people are used to.
Ha-ha, great idea -- and a nice for way for the house owners to deal with the financial crisis, renting the Poltergeist house. Special FX should be furnished by Industrial Light & Magic...
I'd love to do that to... Someone should suggest it to them, 3 days a week, guided tour, watch the film... $30 each time... they'd make a fortune!... Then afterwards maybe get yourself a steak in the middle of the night... then start washing you face in the sink in the laundry room... you know or just sit on the kitchen floor and see what happens...
Great video! It is a beautiful house and hopefully it'll remain unchanged for many years to come. Poltergeist is a classic and one of my all time favorite movies. 1981 was actually a great year for films... E.T. was actually shot in 1981 and released to theaters in 1982, the same goes for POLTERGEIST, and BLADE RUNNER was filmed in 1981 also!!!!! 3 of the GREATEST films of all time!!! My favorite song, "I'll Find My Way Home" by Jon and Vangelis was recorded in 1981 also..... Thanks!!!!!!!
This sounds corny as hell but, I feel like I grew up in that house and that I know the fam and all. I guess that's what hppens when you're really into something since 3 yrs. old. I always wanted to live there...LMAO...wouldn't use the pool though.
I've always liked the architectural character of this house. It's has English Tudor like characteristics. And it was built the year that i was born. What would make it perfect is if it has a basement, but I know that most homes out there don't have them.
I'm glad to see that they rebuilt the brick retaining wall along the lawn. I've seen pictures after the 94 quake and it was cinderblock.
Also, either the trees are ornamental or they've been replaced as they're still small.
Today this house looks exactly so samo how in the film. The film is amazing and I watch him often. He will stand up the thanks for the owners of the house which did not alter his picture and one can admire him in unchanged. POLISH cichy1970
I was about 10 when I first saw this (god bless betamax)...responsible for years worth of creepy house syndrome! Billed as a family film, but I dare say it led to a generation of kids hiding under the duvet.
I just filmed a shot there today for a horror film short I'm doing---I met the lady who lives there & she was very nice-said her husband has owned it for many years but didn't sy how long so I didn't ask---still looks the same as it did back in '82
The house looks pretty much the same, it seems only that the garage door is painted in a different color .. It would be interesting to meet the folks who live inside there today, and maybe take some shots from the inside :) LOL - imagine seeing your house on a movie, especially a scary one like poltergeist :P
Wonder what the scouting folks for the film had on their minds when choosing this particular home...natural available lighting (orientation to the sun), room for trailers & equipment, not blocking major residential thoroughfares, permission from home owner's associations, "photogenics" of house, conforming to needs of the script/story, etc. etc.?! Wish a person involved in the production would tell the story.
They're baaacck! Wonder if the owners of that home get tired of people driving by and taking pictures? Anyone ever gone to the door and asked to take a peek inside? Wonder if the inside looks the same as in the movie? Thanks for the trip down memory lane...well, Roxbury St! Very cool video.
There was a rumor in my home town that the golf course behind my house was once the Milo Cemetary and only the headstones were moved acrossed the street to it's new location. Though records show that my street and the golf course were once owned by a family who ran a farm, over the decades the land was sold off bit by bit for developing house lots and the golf course. However back in the 80s a family up the street actually found a grave and a headstone in their back yard. This was up in Maine.
ah my hometown...simi has got some pretty crazy history actually. manson murders, a good handful of movies got shot here, the reagan library is here and this place was crazy when he died and everyone came just to see his casket for a few seconds with roads blocked off all over.
The house has not changed at all has it, still looks the same as what it did in 1982. Very cool, if the owners get around to selling it I think I'd buy it, it's got that classy look about it.
Yeah, I met someone who lives right beside the home. the house was built in 1980, it has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The living rooom has vaulted wood beam ceilings, its a nice home!

Aren't people living there fed up with "tourists" taking pictures of their house ?

The movie was filmed in the summer of 1981 - not 1982. The movie was released in 1982. AWESOME late 70s and early 80s homes!
