Jose Feliciano did the most soulful rendition of the N.A. and was brutally chastised for it. Yet, I love the different renditions of it. This was not Neils finest moment, but you try to sing that anthem with grace and professionalism, It's tough!

the Ntnl Anthem really is not suited to Neil's vocals, so it is courageous of him to even attempt it in public, without all the enhancements! He did his best, though it wasn't in his best judgement to sing it.

@TopazNot I'm a trained vocalist and I would be hard pressed to get all the way through the national anthem without screwing it up :~) It has so many highs and lows, it's all over the place! But yeah, Neil pretty much butchered it, it's ok....I still like most of his other stuff.

I have been a diehard Neil Diamond fan for over 40 years, but that had to be one of the worst renditions of our National Anthem. He has such a wonderful and powerful voice and it hurts to say something negative against him but this was not impressive. I'm sorry. :-(

I can think of many who have sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl who have been worse! Natalie Cole was pathetic, Kathie Lee was worse. At least Fantasia has never sung the anthem before a Super Bowl!
