Because I've kind of fallen into that habit...never picked up a pick, and don't intend to anytime soon.
How's it working out for you?
Have you come across some things that have been difficult to play due to the lack of a pick? Well, now that I think about it, this was probably one of them...but in the long run, are you happy with your decision?
I'm trying to decide whether I should break out the plectrum earlier in my musical journey (now) vs. later or not at all.
When I first started, I couldn't get a nice sound using a pick & it kept slipping out, so I primarily fingerpicked everything. It wasn't until recently that I tried using a pick again - this time I bought a whole bunch and found a good one with trial and error. Took me awhile to feel comfortable with pick in hand. For song's like Who Did You Think I Was, you definitely need one. I say don't limit yourself, and play songs with and without the pick.
Fantastic job. I've watched you play this at least 2 dozen times and have used this video exclusively to learn the song. Your vocals are great. Keep posting!
On the intro hammer/pulls, try to hit the strings more with the very tip of your finger than the pad of skin in the front... you'll get a much crisper sound. But great vocals, your voice has great tones and the rasp on the higher mix voice notes works really well.
the link to the tabs are in the "About This Video" section of this page. you have to click on the "more info" link to expand the box. it's a sympatico website. i have his live acoustic version of "who did you think i was" favorited, but have yet to find a tab for it, so maybe i'll just try and figure it out later. thanks!
Great job man! just one tiny point of criticism, the notes in the intro sometimes sound a bit muffled with the pull-off. But great job overall, lot of heart in your singing!
good point, i don't know if it's the string or what but the pull-offs sound muffled even on my other guitar. probably something wrong with my technique. thanks for the comment!
This is lovely man... Its rare to hear people on youtube that can actually sing well...and PLAY the guitar.. whilst doing a JM cover.. Props to you... very nice indeed...keep it up man

My favorite part about your vids is the fantastic accuracy that you play the guitar parts with. Wonderfully done.
