  • This rare coming together of 2 great artists shallbe always cherished by music lovers. KRV

  • two great legends nothing to say incomparable to any one

  • MASTERS INDEED. THANKS

  • I was privileged enough to have Pandit Jasraj stay in my home

  • main kahan aur mraray comments kahan main iss qabil nahi !!!

  • Technically speaking, its not Jugalbandi. the two greats are doing sangat with each other. Now, the ultimate problem that created is that each one of them is finding himself in a non-annouced competition. the proof of that is in biggining when one of them just started his alap and the other straight into bandish, which is almost if you are talking and someone interepts you! having said that, this has created a very 'heated debate' between the two :) Awesome!!!

  • 2 best of the best together...can't get any better...thx for upload

  • Thanks for upload.Rare and precious recording .

  • SUPERB!!!

  • @lpfcdd it's not cutting. it's called 'Ladant"... They are fighting to each other. This is the zist and soul of a Jugalbandi. Both masters are showcasing there talents. The term Ladant has originated from jugalbandi of different form of music, such as instrumental and vocal, or indian and carnatic or Indian and western. This kind of ladant is rare and is usually found in filmy classical music. You will rarely find this in Indian Classical scenario. Thanx to prax78 again for uploading this thing.

  • The two great masters, both are the lions of India. As kumthekar0408 has said, India is not business men or politicians. We may be a developing country according to the UN but we are much more advanced then anyone else in culture, happiness and the arts!!!

  • can smone pls upload the complete lyrics of this bandish

  • excellent - it is not cutting - masterpiece

  • INDIAN muzic IZ CLASSIC I am Pakistani 03332604292

  • Pure ecstasy!!!!!!

  • Mesmerizing! This is true Indian music in all it's splendor

  • Y is teentaal is so popular?

  • @covertquest once you get engulfed and immersed in it you will realise.

  • @arnabdc Actually I do realize because it's my favourite too. I just wonder why are most of the stage performances based on teentaal. They could be based on dadra, roopak, etc. but why only teentaal. Just a curiosity nothing much. But it would be good to know if there's a reason behind it if any. Thanks for the reply :)

  • @covertquest : hmmm... good qs.. I think Teentaal is the best match for classical bandishes - because I think it provides the most felxibility (room to improvise and play around) for the performers. If you listen to Tabla solos though, you'll get to listen other taals more often.

Again same can be said about Kehrva - why most film songs are based on it?

  • @BarvaAntu : Ya. That makes sense. Thanks :)

  • What an uplifting & sublime experience. Both maestros get power fm eachother. This is real legacy & we are so proud to be born in this country which produces one Bharat Ratan & second an Anmol Ratan.

  • Spell binding! Fantastic! What prowess ! Both prove the 10000 hrs rule that Malcolm Gladwell writes about in 'Outliers'. Both the panditjis are a true inspiration for all of us who wish to excel in our respective field!

  • this is what music is all about as it goes inside you in the deep and gives a feeling of lightness...no worlds to explain what i am feeling and ...

  • great...ultimate....wah..h

  • I am speechless. I bow down, and ask for their blessings.

  • Actually no words can explain this feeling .god bless .nat mastak. I can just bow to this .

  • Wow !!! What a a masterpiece !

  • i totally agree with pmd 9013...really hard to imagine how tansen n baiju bawra cud be better than these two masters...

  • Can I get/buy this audio/MP3 anywhere?

  • Special thanks to prax78 for this wonderful dual of two legends. I am an ardent fan of Shri Bhimsenji, unbiassedly both the masters performed with ease and what a rendition. I agree with some of the friends here that India is a great country with rich culture and we are blessed to have this kind of legends in our contemporary world

  • fantastic !!!

  • Really Superb....................

  • We do not know performance of Birju Bawara or Tansen, but I can't imagine how any one can surpass this performance....

  • W---O---W!

  • Few times I have liked Pandit Jasraj---he is truly amazing, pitted against another giant, he not only holds his own, I think he is more mellifluous than Bhimsen.

  • is what you get when two gians get together

    Superb

  • This was just GREAT .. many thankls for this upload

  • Excellent !!! I think Malkauns is Hindustani equivalent of Hindolam in carnatic...

  • @kichappa Great comment! As far as I know, I believe that is correct. :)

  • Electrifying! I was an unsuspecting listener completely blown away by this brillaint, brilliant gem. My thanks to prax 78 for this great upload.

  • A great rendition in the darkness of the night.

  • my favorite raag + master singers = the best song

  • He is indeed a Bharat Ratna.

An admirable decision on the part of the government.

    great upload!

  • Please correct me, but at 1:45 they looks be cutting each other.... is this kind of mix of two records ?? I don't believe that these 2 masters will cut each other again at near 3:02.....

Is this some different kind of "Gayaki"?

  • when 2 masters of the same art meet, the resultant is another form of the same art ;)

  • In my opinion.... since this rendition is used in a film, where the scene is filmed at FatehpurSikri and the narrator or the hero talks about the jugalbandi of Baiju Baawra and Taansen. Hence, the composition or the rendition was so planned to represent the "competition" between both.

  • @lpfcdd Well in vocal jughalbandi there are many instances of overlapping these are due to the nature of instantaneous improvisation which is inherent to both Persian and Indian classical music and not absolutely a mistaken cutting or over running each other these masters hardly practice for such types of performances they know what to do and what a master peice they usualy create.

  • @lpfcdd it usually happens that when two singers of this calibre perform a jugal bandhi, their styles differ and hence it sounds like they are also cutting into each other... the cutting in also intensifies the jugalbandhi to look more "competetive" in the movie

  • Fabulous!

    Mukund

  • Masterpiece!

  • a treat to ears....hats off to both of u sirs

  • Superb!! Did not miss the video!!

  • loved your comment. agree with you completely.

  • and sadly india does not shine on these people. Just heard about the death of wellknown marathi musician 'Dasharath Poojari' who did not even have a home of his own. Those residing in posh houses in Bandra should make a note of this...planning to run a country ha! heard another good poem called 'Salam' by Mangesh Padgaonkar. a marathi one.

  • absolutely the best jugalbandi of Malkaus I have ever heard! Supremely Wonderful!

  • I greatfully acknowledge this extraordinery contribution by prax78. This is one of the biggest goldmine and richest too. We all should commend the person who managed these giants to sing together.

  • Amazing. The best. The legends together.

  • excellent national treasure of India

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I heard it for the very first time and did not even know that such a recording existed.

    Thanks for the posting.

  • Raag Maalkauns is, in general, the most appealing even to the people like me whose knowledge about classical Hindustani music is next to nil ; and specially this rendition by two maestros is beyond this world.

  • Flawless diamond, 24 K gold, simply awesome.

This is one of greatest pieces of music I have ever listened , and for sure it will remain there all my life.

  • also bhairavi. i like the raagas belonging to bhairavi thaat.
