@nonboong Thats exactly right, at our temples that are part of the Forest Sangha it takes us years to get enough donations to buy gold leaf to cover the either black or white statues. The one in the vid hasa gold Angsa draped across it for the time being. The Buddha was a Prince of Indian race, not Negroid as some in the African Guilt Industry would have us believe.

You know what? Your very right about that but people want to deny that this enlightened person was blatantly depicted as a black man from his earliest representations in india and throughout asia in general, and people get very offended when that happens. It shouldn't be a problem admitting it if we want to liberate ourselves from ignorance which according to him is the cause of suffering. But I doubt the man himself the really cared or was concerned, he was far removed from such things.

@FulltimeDabbler A black skinned indian is entirley different from a Black African Negro. The Indians and Sri Lankans who come to our temple are grossly offended when whites call them Blacks. It is the Buddhas teachings that are relevant. The Black movement saying Gautarma was African are only suffering an inferiortry complex.

Actually it's not an inferiority complex I feel inferior to no one. I actually think it's the reverse because of what it implies I simply recognize the truth and others have a hard time doing it. The depiction of the early Buddahs are evident and are still being used today so theres no denying it other than by false western semantics,labels and classifications. While I'm talking about buddah you're talking about nationality so where does that complex really lie?

@FulltimeDabbler when has the Buddha ever been depicted as a black man? i have seen literally millions of buddha statues but never once have i ever seen one in any temple that resembled a black man. Not in India, not in Thailand, not in Cambodia, not in Laos, not in Nepal and not in Tibet. So I don't understand where u are getting this "blatantly depicted as a black man from"?
