  • He is a real MAN - not Justin Bieber!

  • What a deep voice! Great song!

  • my mum had this lp and she played it so much that i can still, after 40 years sing along with every song

  • Heard this for the first time on the radio a few weeks ago, love it.

  • listening for first time. cool song. :3

  • Der klassiker^^ :-)

  • all time classic... superb!!!

  • Art Bell!..lol

  • I can't see music from these two ever aging into the "unhip" archives

their voices are mysterious but pleasant, the music is very swingy and orchestrated well but has this maniacal edge to it and the lyrics are very intriguing

  • What a gifted pair they were their singing talanded was beyound description

  • AWESOME video,liked + subed! make more!

  • Awesome

  • this song is smoother than bourbon

  • still played on air here in nz, there voices go well together

  • women, food, work, children, illness and death . . .

  • I interviewed Lee on Mothers Day 1993, in Toronto. A great man...

  • No getting used to this for me, loved it a second into the song.. AMAZING. And I'm only 23.

  • Nice song!

  • Doesn't need a video. Great SONG!

  • Absolutely phenomenally under-rated and under-played. Why do we hear Louie-Louie a million times and Hang On Sloopy a billion times but NEVER hear ANYTHING from Nancy and Lee on oldies radio? They shove crap down our throats but NEVER indulge us with these great tunes.

  • FFFF-- I love this song.

  • This song is awesome! Great song sung sublimely by two great artists.

  • I agree. I also remember this song when I was younger.

  • i heard this song on the radio the other day in Adelaide, Australia! thought it was a brand new triple j song like little red or something, then realised it was on an oldies station hahaha took me for ever to find this! love it! i'm showing all my friends!

  • @benmawby1111 I remember when it came out back in 1967/Jan. or so

  • A beautifull beautifull song.

  • I hadn't realised this was the original. I first heard this sung by Grant & Forsyth back about 12 years ago

  • WOW WANT A VOICE

  • This boy rocks in all ways

  • this is singing, real singing, two amazing voices together as only very rare in music history

  • lbj 11/22/63, i know .

  • Jesus, where do I get these Nancy & Lee CD's? Amazon says 40€ and 86€ for their CDs.

  • Go to CDWow.com.au. Search for Nancy Sinatra. You'll find lots of stuff cheap. :-)

  • This song has so much groove, I can't stop dancing to it :D. *move* *swing* *yess* *spin* *move*

  • Particularly poignient to those of us who have lost a spouse. Especially since it was an adolescent favorite.

  • I wish I had a ladybird:) Pretty ladybird. Man, I love this music.

  • My nan made me listen to the words!! awesome, awesome the guy has the best growly voice eva!!

  • her voice gives me goosebumps, every time

  • I was in the USAF when this came out. I can't remember how many "NANCY & LEE" 8 tracks LP's I wore out but there were many. Lee will never be recognized for his accomplishments for there were many.

    RIP Genius!

  • Was this a tribute to the U.S. first Lady of the time, Mrs. LBJ?

  • @GodivaGirl1

When I first heard this song a few years ago, I kind of had the same thought, but I don't think it was a tribute to her. I have no clue as to what the title is a reference to. ;)

  • I love Lee's voice. RIP dear Lee... love you for ever.

  • love it

  • One of my favorite songs by those two! Thanks for posting!

  • Just as Good as " Some Velvet Morning" ...Has that Halloween Sound, but maybe That's just Me. Thanks for The Post.

  • These two made a great duo. While Nancy has a good voice she always did better with a partner. She had limited range but she was great with harmonies. Her brother sounded just like Frank Sr. but never had his fame. Maybe lack of being able to work an audience like his father could.

  • I have always LOVED this song. Unfortunitely the timing was a little wrong. People made fun of the song. Guess who was first lady when it came out?

  • I always thought of good music as works of art. I asked myself "how does a piece of art get OUTDATED?" To me, songs like this are timeless. I will always love Nancy and Lee's music, regardless if its the 1980s, 1990s, 2000+. Some Velvet Morning, Lady Bird, and Summer Wine are 3 masterpieces. Timeless treasures I wish more people would open their eyes to. Timeless treasures......

  • niceee

  • its till famous here in israel (:

  • @OzzySweet Appreciate the input!

  • @zmov1

Really great. I don't think that most of their songs were ever heard, except maybe Summer Wine. Thanks for this post. I suspect this was their story.

    Mary

  • @OzzySweet

oh no it's not :) anyway, if you can tell me any good club except "Shablul" i'd really appreciate it.

  • @IngvardM אתה ישראלי אחי?

  • @OzzySweet nu az mi eifo?

  • @OzzySweet

... and here in Oldenburg (Germany) too!

    :-D

  • @WitzboldEnnoEinmalig schön zu wissen ;)

  • @OzzySweet

    .xD

  • @OzzySweet Backward country!

  • @royalcourtier oh man u have no clue

  • What a timless song! Fabulous

  • What a song!

  • Good song.

  • Nancy had 10 top 40s and 2 #1s.Frank didn't do all that for her.

  • SAUGEIL ! ! !

  • Saugeil !

  • I haven't heard this song in years.....Brings back greatt memories....

  • Stunning !!!!

  • fantastic song. Thanks!

  • Lee and Nancy released 3 of the most incredible songs. Lady Bird, Some Velvet Morning, and Summer Wine. EPIC!

  • I know I'm going to take a huge amount of crap for this statement but.....If nancy sinatra's father wasn't frank sinatra no record company would have given her the time of day. There is absolutely nothing special about her voice......flat, dead-pan styple of singing with no range.

  • @inkey2 hee frank sinatra is the dad of nancy take it or leave it baby

  • @yvonne5919 : i'll "leave it"

  • @inkey2 Technically this is true but there is a huge depth of subtle expression going on with her voice that just taps in with some people, and it def works for me, I've always preferred her voice to her fathers, I hear singers with a much wider range and still nowhere near as interesting as this for me.

  • Art Bell used "Some Velvet Morning" as one of his "bumper music" songs. He wondered if the name Phaedra would start becoming popular in, say, nine months, or so. };-]

  • Yes!!!!

  • beautiful song

  • Dave here. I learned of this song and "some Velvet Morning" while listening to the C2C Art Bell Show. His taste in music is very much like mine, tending to favor the late '60's thru '70's.

  • Great!

  • Love love love : ))

  • ich liebe dieses lied...

    es ist wundervoll

  • jeder Song von den beiden irgendwie ein Kunstwerk

  • One of the most beutifull songs ever made.

  • I'm impressed young folk listen to this style of music; it takes a little getting used to, like old black&white movies. I hope all people learn to appreciate all styles of music, because it's the greatest gift mankind ever gave to one another.

  • @theScytheofGod Indeed. I very much agree with your wise words!

  • Thanks for the kind words, have a great veteran's day:)

  • @theScytheofGod indeed !

  • @iamconnected why does everyone keep saying that?

  • @theScytheofGod ahh! i love black and white movies!

  • @tabitwin Good, they had to do much more with much less back then:)

  • @theScytheofGod but they had to have more talent

  • @theScytheofGod I'm 16 and I love this =D

  • @GabbyGraffiti That's great, I think the reason I'm so open minded to all forms of music is that I was exposed to different styles when I was very young. At 8, I got into my stepdad's 50's music collection and am still a fan of that genre of music (but that's just an example). Keep your mind open, and good listening to you.

  • @theScytheofGod Me too

  • @theScytheofGod VERY well said!

  • @theScytheofGod

When I listen to the radio nowadays I could start crying.

The music is irrelevant, uninspiring and nothing special at all.

I wish I lived back in that time. :-)

Must have been great to hear this song in the radio for the very first time.

  • @RaubhamsterXXL I think you're right, it must've been great. I sat with 7th graders today, and when they told me the music they listened to, I, like Jesus, wept.

  • Nice..very nice. They sound beautifully haunting together.

  • Thank you very much zmov1.

  • THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO

  • im twenty, and i found their songs i don't even know how..but i am SOOO glad i did. =)

  • I LOVE this song :D Nancy & Lee do sound great together!

  • Thank you Art for turning me on to so many great ones.

  • Art Bell?

  • He's a talk show host that talks about stuff like UFOs and the so-called face on Mars.

  • I know Art Bell, just was wondering if others knew this song because of him.

  • good old crack tune sound°°°°°

  • i like how open minded you are

  • Fantastic song. I absolutely love these two! The collaboration of Nancy & Lee was one of the best things to've happened to music. I wish more people my age could appreciate such legendary brilliance. Not many teenagers I know of are open-minded enough to do so. R.I.P. Lee Hazlewood.

  • Seventeen. Whenever I try to introduce this kind of music to people, they get completely turned off. And that also goes with a lot of music that should be listened to. I mean, I like all kinds of music, so I'm definitely not biased in that department. But everyone else seems to be, to a somewhat depressing degree.. retreating to their Soulja Boy or Children Of Bodom. There's certainly a lot of brilliant music out there that shouldn't be left out. But I suppose some people have tenacious taste..

  • EnviousElk, I know exactly what you mean. I'm nineteen, and listen to classical music, and all kinds of genres from, say, the 1920s till nowadays songs, but the latter takes over only a small amnount of my MP3 player. When I listen to songs from the 40s and 50s most of the people my age don't really get that (; But let's hope that youtube introduces our generation to songs like this, and make them like it! (:

  • I first heard this song at about age 12 and have loved it since. I have it on a record of theirs.

  • very beautiful song, lee and nancy will live forever in eveyone's heart. thks utube for posting.

  • LETHLSS: I heard them interviewed on "C2C" with Art Bell. Believe I have them on cassette tape, somewhere. Nancy said she didn't know what the songs were about. She said something like, "Lee writes the songs and I sing 'em." Re: "Some Velvet Morning," Lee said Phaedra was his favorite "loser goddess." Nothing ever worked out right for her. Art wondered how many girls would be named Phaedra now that they repopularized that song. She fell in love w/stepson, Hippolytus. Hanged herself.

  • wow, crazy...

  • The lyrics of Lee Hazelwood and sung by him and Nancy are fantastic and so sexy.Ergo,,, Sand, Ladybird, Summer Wine,,,,Fantastic

  • such a lovely song that will never grow old.

  • this is the sweetest song ever!

  • Hey Folks!

    Did you know, there was a hearsay that;

this song was riduceiling the Late U.S. President " L.B " Johnson ??!!

Anyhow... it sure has got a pretty audible & soft tune, which reminds me my happy-hippy days of 60' ies, together with their other hit "Summer Wine" !...

    --Metin--

  • He have sung his songs with another woman--but I can´t remember her name!

    Anyone who knows?

  • Possibly Ann Margret?

  • And Suzy Jane. And Siw Malmqvist.

  • Catchy little tune

  • Nancy is great, I sure miss you Lee!

  • I have the album, hunted for years for it and it turned up in a junk shop somewhere in San Antonio, TX. My husband and I were so elated to have found it and it is in pristine condition! Yes, I first heard this back in early 1968, ...I was 17 years old at the time and it just stuck with me!
