  • Hi; What is the item reffered to as a shuttle that lays the wire on the coil form. Where do you buy this and w2hat is the price.

  • Hi there, I bet you were well pleased the first time you wave wound a coil and I imagine you still get a great deal of satisfaction each time you use it. Do you have a range of eccentrics for different coil lengths?

  • Eyes welled up a little when I saw the ingeniousness and beautiful simplicity

of this great little universal winder. Tip 'O the Hat to Lindsay/Gingery !

  • I just received the instruction book from gingerybooks. It is a great and very simple step by step booklet on how to make David Gingery's Universal Coil Winding Machine. Very thorough. Gonna start making parts now! The video really helped explain how the machine works in motion.

  • I had totally forgotten about the various coil winding machines from the hobby magazines of years past. Your choice of music is a curious blend of the Bell Labs films that we saw in school (as a TREAT!) and oddly, makes me wan to say.

    "Thank you Mister Wizard!"

  • meraviglioso!!

  • Great job!!!

  • could this style of winding work on a standerd tattoo machine coil , not only would it look cool but may work better im curiouse to know if it would ??????? please tell me

  • well i made one just like yours last night based upon viewing of yours. mine is a little different since i couldnt see all your components. i used rubber washers for the friction gears. drilled an off set hole in a washer for the sliding guide and welded it too my set stop. and cant just go out and buy those used steel spacers inserted into a hot rolled tub and cut to size and drilled and tapped for set screws. gonna use thread to make a coil to not waste wire to test.

  • Where can I find the plans to build this winder???

  • @jhazy46: Lindsay Publications sells the Gingery Books. This title is available from them.

  • wireless electric fans favorites, anyone tell me please, where I can buy it. Mrwongyingkit.

  • Wireless electric fans favorites

  • up cross section sirmatos embraces the machine

  • Beautifully done. Very Impressive. Is that Litz wire? What is the inductance of that baby? Have you attempted building an interstage transformer with a pair of gingery PI wound coils yet? I have read in the Impoverished Radio Builder vol 5 that they say you can get good enough quality , but looking at your video that looks like a pretty consistent and uniform coil.

  • In the UK i think they are called wave wound.

Used for winding an overwind on an old fashioned Line output transformer.

  • But how ma is chuck

  • Thanks for posting this video of your machine!

  • I want one machinate of those!!

lindsay co thanks alot for this video....joe

  • So that's how they do it ! Nice machine.

    Impressive result.

  • Well impressed - excellent example! :)

  • Luv it

  • Is it a homemade machine ? If it is it´s amazing. Very good job ! ! !

  • Like I say , 'One good turn deserves another.'

Unfortunately I always end up with too much inductance. :-(
