In 1999, this was one of three comic book properties that premiered on Fox Kids Saturday mornings in the fall.
Of the three, the only one to complete its run in its first year was "Avengers: United They Stand," while BG&RTBR didn't finish its full first season for another couple years, being pulled after less than ten had aired.
Given how GOOD this show is? That's incredibly depressing.
Watch the skies, coming at you, A hero of metal hue, He locks horns with disaster, For the red and white and blue, Then was born a boyrobot, Miracle of science, Ready to battle large monsters, Supercharged and quick on the draw, Pretty darn good, but he needs help, The Big Guy, he's a big deal, Heart of gold, and fists of steel, Clobbering evil entities, with Rusty at his heel, Now that they're a mighty team, The boy robot lives his dream, To be a legend in history, The Big Guy and Rusty!
Just as people have different accents and talk differently, they use different lip movements...
Not to mention there's not many people that can read lips as is... And it's not really a skill you can learn easily either, you either get it or you don't. Sure practice can help, but it's still going to be genetic...
Not to mention with the fact that they didn't program him to be an expert sharpshooter, they didn't program him to be mature... He has to learn all that...
I watched the crap out of my BG&R tape back in the day. This was my favorite episode (Along with the Blob and Edie); wonder if I've still got most of it memorized?
These advertisements suck. I'm not talking about the fact that there are advertisements. I mean the choices for the commercial breaks suck. If you make crappy commercials people won't want to buy your product.
Yes, the theme song doesn't sound as good as glamorous as it used to appear, Rusty looks younger because I was younger, Big Guy looks less exciting because I've seen tougher, like in Transformers, and his weapons don't look as tough because I've seen much more intense gunfire than that over the years, and the aliens look less scary. It was still an awesome show, except for the taking out of the ending. I remember when he read Pinnochio and he's like, "Wouldn't wanna be ya. No fun at all."
Damn, I'm sorry I missed this show, even though I must've been about three went it was being shown.

The Quark Corp logo kind of resembles the Quiznos logo (not surprising given that they use a big two-tone capital letter "Q")
