Icke does talk about hunger, poverty, etcetera. His early research was specifically about what you call real problems (first five years or so). Read more of his interviews and books and you'll see that.

The question might be turned around, of course: what are YOU doing that's so fantastic? But that's not really the point. Most people are blind to what's happening. You can't solve a problem if you don't know it exists. Or worse if you're given a false solution.

Religions have orthodoxy, followers, hierachies, God(s) with specific characteristics, internal organizations, systems of beliefs, manners of prayer, accepted dogma, unnacceptable dogma, etc.

David Icke hasn't proclaimed any of those and has not asked that anyone do so on his behalf. The ONLY reason I can handle Icke is because, if you listen to him, you'll see that he's not down with the control mechanism we call religion. He rejects religion many times over if you listen.

I would also make note that it is highly important to understand the difference between metaphor, analogy and literal modes of speech. Icke tends to ue analogy. Do not confuse his speaking in analogy with him speaking literally. When he speaks of the egg shell its an analogy that makes certain concepts easier to understand - they are in no way designed to be literal interpretations of reality. They are analogies. Analogies should never be taken literally. This is how religion fails.

As for David Icke setting himself up as a prophet, I think you might be thinking about him being a charlaton. It would be wise to remember that the charlatan prophet seeks power / fame / money or whatever else. David Icke, if you examine how he lives, does not have teenage models doing lines of blow off his dong. He doesn't have throngs of followers waiting on him hand and foot. He doesn't have a Bently with a diamond toilet inside.

As for evidence accessible to others it does seem that, speaking of reptiods, he's seeing things. Others have claimed to have seen what he's talking about and, to be honest, this is where I deviate from Icke. I think it's possible to have all of the societal mechanisms Icke talks about without aliens.

As for whether or not they exist it is important to remember that we don't even know how the jelly inside our skulls interprets information. He might be right. I don't know.

Finally, as for dissolving the base of solidarity of education I would say that I learned nothing in school and have zero interest in going back to that robot factory. A brief insight might be gleaned from Robert Pirsig. Or J. D. Salinger.

What we call education has produced the W. Bush's, Clintons, Browns, Rices and every other asshole that has told us to murder other human beings. I think what we call education should be rethought.

Hm. Why should I trust a system such as a democracy or any other for that matter? A system is only as good as the people who defines and exerts it. I would rather NOT trust it and ask questions about it. This is crucial in order to keep it alive and maintain it of use to the general public. If we trust in science, we are no better than those who trust in religion. and trust in an existing dogma will never bring humanity forward. The questions "how?" and "why?" should be asked far more often.

It seems to me from what I've seen & I have by no means spent a lot of time researching this, but the Mayan calendar deals with the cycles of human consciousness and not linear time. Thus many people have misapplied the 2012 date to some catastrophic world event, instead of a point of awakening. I think David has a similar view.
