What the woman said about carbon fibre is innacurate. It isn't laying the carbon fibre layers in different planes that gives it strength at all, its the seperation between layers and the high tensile strength of the fibres.
But guys The show is not going to lie is it. everything they tell you about has to be true. Plus we're only a small country no bigger than Florida. And for the things we have achieved, it's pretty impressive. I mean you may have a bigger country but we had the Biggest empire.
This is a British production for Discovery, so they have to glorify their industry. It would be the same if it was a Russian or a US production. In my opinion the raptor and the Russian fifth generation fighter will leave all the others waaaay back.
russsian fighter jets are useless, russian tech is useless, the russians cant even build a good car let alone a fighter jet. All there fighters are cheap and lack the technology that NATO has. Yes they may be bulding a 5th gerneration fighter jet, that only means its post 2001 ( 21st century) dose not mean it will be better then 4th generation fighter jets (pre 2001). Yes there planes can break mac 2 and can do some barrel roles, big deal! but NATO has greater range rissiles and radar!
98321010 carbon fibre and kevlar are stronger than steel if you compare their weights. The point of the material is that to gain the required strength in an aircraft with carbon, you would need a lot more steel or more appropriately, aluminium (aluminum for the yanks) to do the same job. This decreases weight wich allows for better performance. It is not ammune to damage. Kevlar may absorb some damage depending, carbon fiber generally fails suddenly.
I talked to an F-22 pilot at SAFB airshow last year and he said the only aircraft in the world that stood a chance was the F-15 only cause it uses some of the same missle technology, The Eurofighter is a great aircraft but it has no stealh so it stands no chance againest the F-22 or F-35
If that pilot told you that, he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.
Typhoons recorded more kills against the raptor than f15s in simulated exercises, and the Typhoon is "stealthy", unlike the eagle which is not stealth at all.
At Northern Edge, 12 f22s downed 144 f15s 16s and 18s without a single loss.
The Typhoon missile technology is superior to the f15.
@superw1998 I haven't heard of silent eagle, and the f15 is essentially an antiquated design these days. They've gutted the avionics to keep it up to date, but even the f15c went in to service in 1983.
typhoon is no match with raptor period!!! raptor is a mutli role also, it has a capable of killing tanks or any bustards in d ground.. typhoon can be killed by a raptor without seeing it d radar...

F22, eurofighter typoon, su 37, su 47, mig 35; which is the best... Maybe F22 in performance, but its price become in a loser, it is to expensive, you can buy 2 EF and destroy the raptor and save 24 millons for weapons.
Where can I see evidence of this?I've seen some very impressive and,for the time, extremely advanced WW2 German aircraft designs(swept wing, flying wing, forward swept wing, tailless with swept wing etc)but nothing on the configs I mentioned above(especially the first two as they're designed for flight at Mach2)+.I just thought the guy's statement at 4:37 was slightly far-fetched.I'd like to be proved wrong. How about lifting bodies, tiltwings, tailsitter vtol annular wings and supercritical aerofoils?
The Narrators voice irritates my throat ... I still want to watch this video :P

i think your forgetting the russian SU 27 Flanker and SU 37 Terminator.
jawehawk 3 years ago
su-37 never went into production, su-27 is cheap plane and very pethetic for its time
login001login001 3 years ago
The SU 27 Flanker is one of hte best planes of all time. And the SU 37 is in production, and is being used by the russian air force.
jawehawk 3 years ago
I agree with you that the SU 27 is one of the best of all time but you are wrong, the terminator is not in production
ProjectCC 3 years ago
again I'm going to say that it is in production.
jawehawk 3 years ago
The Flankers is one of the best planes of all time, but the 37 isn't in production, nor is it being used in the Russian air force.
The most advanced jet in Russia is the Su-30M, and Russia only has ten.

@odessaboy but the f-15 is more capable than the typhoon no single loss in actula combat hahah typhoon only simulated so f-15 rules
vonbon26 1 year ago
@odessaboy Oh how old is the F-15? Plus it is simulate in real life it is different. Also ever heard of silent eagle? Search that.

The raptor doesn't really need stealth, it beyond horizon radar, just like the F-15 which can spot its targets way before it gets sptted by them
SupremeCommanderO1 3 years ago
It need stealth for other reason. You want to speed into closer range without being detected so your missile has a lot of speed and energy.
Otherwise, a fighter can drain the missile of energy and cause a miss.

4:37. Did the Germans research compound deltas (F16XL, Tu144, saab draken), ogival (concord) or winglets (various airliners)?

yes, research started in wwII.
