  • is this SG neck heavY and tends to tilt to the ground?

  • This is the first guitar I've purchased and I'll keep it for a long time. I also have a Epiphone LP custom and I like the Epi SG G-400 more than the LP. In the vid the guy said the SG has a nice tone, not too bright and not too heavy which I like. Where the LP Custom tone is a bit heavy. Also, he forgot to mention that this SG has a slim neck which personally I love. It's a good guitar in general. Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's for beginners.

  • phil x should do a review of this guitar

  • I really dont know why everybody is crazy about Gibsons. My first guitar was a Gibson and i hated it with all my heart. The sound quality of it was just complete trash my second and current guitar is a Sg and i love it. Epiphone all the way :)

  • @Lucap1000 I hate that I was too young to know anything about guitars when I got my first guitar. And nice! A fender mustang, I went to guitar centre and played out of the mustang III and my dad asked when I got so good and I said the amp is doing most the work! Haha and a new guitar will do that to you. Haha

  • i had this guitar for a year now and i think already that it sounds better or the same as some Gibson sg

  • pff good starter my ass. The epiphone special II and special I, or the g310 and les paul 100 are the starter guitars. The g400 is an intermediate guitar at least. If your a musician this guitar will probably suit you for quite some time. I changed the bridge pickup on mine 3 years ago, and I don't find any need for an upgrade. Considering the Les Paul Studio is 100 euros more expensive, this is really an awesome bang for the buck.

  • is this worn brown or worn cherry?

  • @iAdmireQuagsire

worn brown... i find worn cherry looks better

  • Korea or China?

  • @borex9 it doesnt matter

  • How good is this guitar compared to a PRS Se Singlecut Tremolo?

  • Epiphone ''sg'' g400 ? Or is it g400 ? I have never heard of an sg g400 ?!

  • @creationoftheworld Its an "Epiphone SG G400". It is not a "regular" epiphone g400, despite both having the SG look.

  • @EmperorofCartoons Every website , every shop i have been says g400 , not ''sg'' g400 !

  • @creationoftheworld Go to Musician's Friend (Just type it into google.) and in their search box in the top righthand side of their site, type "Epiphone g400" and it will show you all the different models in the G400 series, including the SG G400.

  • @EmperorofCartoons Then it seems to be an usa exclusive ?!

  • I am thinking about getting an epiphone SG off eBay for like $160, it's my first electric but I do have an acoustic, I'm kinda goin the way of metal, Metallica ,megadeath, that sorta stuff, should I get it? Or get like a fender instead?

  • @Megapie678 All depends on the sound you wanna get out of it although you can play anything with any kind of guitar most of the tone work will be done by the pedals and your amp. This seems like a great guitar tho

  • what song did he play at the begining?

  • It's not just for beginners. I've been playing Epiphone SGs for 12 years now...

  • @soulagent79 yeah are they any good thinking of getting one, already have a few fenders and a gretsch but i am just looking for something affordable and different to play.

  • @rustyjames761 Since Gibson luthier Mark Voltz has started working at the Epiphone factory in China in 2008 all their guitars have become extremely good. Even Angus Young bought two Epiphone SGs last year, this is no joke!

  • I think these sound awesome. I've been debating between this or a Strat and I'm getting the SG. And baby these can bark!

  • HA!! He thought it was a les paul at 2:54 lol

  • @Renallica100

SGs are actually smaller Les Pauls, they're basically the Les Paul 2nd Gen,but LP didn't want his name on it because he didn't like it.

  • Do you think i would need to replace the strap lock for this guitar?

  • The distortion on this sounds way better than my Les Paul 100

  • I fucken hate it when people say "is it a good starter?" because an epiphone is impossible for me and a lot of other people to afford. If you have this guitar be thankful. If you have a Gibson. You're a lucky bastard.

  • @lastofmykind8 what are you talking about? most epiphone guitars are very affordable and most guitarists can afford them. idk where you buy your guitars but these arent very expensive.

  • @lastofmykind8 Since when is $250 "impossible to afford". Get a job you lazy sack.

  • @TheJordan2689 im 15 you dumb bitch, youre the one too lazy to check your facts before stating them.

  • @lastofmykind8 whoa strong language there for a kid. You must be looking in the wrong place for prices.

  • @KyoKaiba depends what model youre lookin for. sorry if my language offends you.

  • @lastofmykind8 How's this for facts: amazon.com, $275. Now get a job!

  • @TheJordan2689 are you stupid? haha i cant work legally. i cant get money at my age.

  • @lastofmykind8, maybe your parents won't let out 250$? If you're really into music they should get you the goddamn guitar right now.

  • @Lucap1000 we're uptight on money right now. and they dont understand the quality of instruments. i have a cheap fender strat Copy guitar and a nameless brand ten watt amp. they think i dont need anything else. but i've had the guitar five years and the pickups are terrible..

  • @lastofmykind8, that's what I expected. I actually bought a new guitar because the one I had was an unknown brand, it had one humbucker pickup (bad for me), I had a small amp of a shit brand too... At first my mum didn't take buying a new guitar seriously, but since now i've started electric guitar lessons, and I'm a good player, she has let me and my dad go to the shop, we saw this guitar, and bought it. Now guess what? I like to play the guitar more!

    P.S. Now I use a Fender Mustang I amp. :)

  • I have this exact same guitar, but I swapped out the shitty pickups for Seymore Duncans. I gota say, it's pretty bad ass now.

  • Thats what you call dirty?

  • It still has not arrived.

  • I like how he only solos with the dirty tone

people like their chords with some dirt too bro

  • are gibson's worth it

  • @steelewolf365 the actual gibson sg standard definitely sound hotter than the g400 with stock pups. It depends whether you are willing to spend that much money for such a difference and the bindings which the epi sg don't have. Another way is to upgrade the g400 pickups for a hotter tone.

  • @ChuanKuiMusic how is the overall quality of the epiphone compared to gibsons

  • @steelewolf365 Epiphone, believe it or not, where rivaling Gibson's Archtop guitars, before one of the World Wars weakened the Epiphone Co., allowing Gibson to buy them out.

Obviously Gibson brand guitars use very high quality woods and materials, while Ephiphone uses decent, but not as fine materials.

  • Agile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • F**k I'm still waiting on my guitar, I hate USPS they suck!!!! :{

  • would this guitar be good for me. Am not a beginner but am not a pro ether?

  • If you get this guitar.....

    1. Change tuners

    2. Change strings

Rock the crap out of your house

  • I got a gibson les paul studio because I thought they looked better and did have relitively close sounds, although I did like the sound on the les paul a little better, but I later figured out they had this in silverburst :(

  • @CMPCKELLY Yes.

  • Should i get this guitar ??

  • @ConorRemz I got one and I love it!!

  • jesus man your down playing that guitar soooo much. that guitar is easily a semi-pro quality guitar. half the equipment on that is standard on EVERY gibson. the mahogany body, the grover tuners (which are like the best you can get). the alnico v's are pretty middle of the road but if you got a good amp your gonna sound like tony iommi.

    PLUS the SUSTAIN

The set neck = better sustain

the downward head stock =better sustain

the tune-o-matic bridge+ stop bar tail piece = AMAZING SUSTAIN

  • Damn I can't for mine to arrive five more days.

  • Would this sound good plugged into a Fender Frontman 212R?

  • im sure it is. but if you stood up with it strapped on does the headstock bob down? is it top heavy?

  • Got it today played for about seven hours straight I love it

  • @DannyMart97 is it top heavy?

  • @CMPCKELLY the body is very light

  • @CMPCKELLY so yeah

  • Should i get this or the epiphone les paul standard plain top

  • @kody9898 I would go for a lp standard, although the lp 100s are very underrated and extremely good value for money. Both are better than the SG to be fair.

  • Squier By Fender Vintage Modified Jaguar®

    THIS EPIPHONE

Squier By Fender Classic Vibe Stratocaster® '50s

    PLEASE HELP ME IN DESISCION!!!!

  • @MetallicaSerbia Squier = Crap... trust me, my Epiphone is amazing.

I gave my Squier away, either that or i'd throw it in the trash.

  • @MissionsMinecraft

I have a Squier, and it really sucks...

  • @guitartur Well, at the time I got mines thats all I knew and I thought it was amazing, now I see it's crap LOLOL.

  • @MissionsMinecraft Thank you man, you just helped me :)

  • is this a good guitar ranging from metal - punk - and classic rock?

  • Just Bought this Guitar for CHRISMAS !!!! 3 more days for SHIPPING.. AHHHH can't wait. !!

  • 0:33 Emo LOL

  • Epiphone is owned by Gibson since 1957. I all ready know this. They still are a seprate company.

  • Part 2 i would never Choose a Gibson over todays Epiphones. I have a 2010 Epiphone G-400 Standard 62 sg and (2) 2011 Epiphone limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Reissue sg's they are professional quality all the way through. No Gibsons for me.

  • @EPI6fingers Epiphone is owned by Gibson....

  • Thats my guitar <3

  • Today's Epiphones are geared more towards the professional guitarist than the beginner. They are the very best in top quality there only down fall is there way under priced for the quality they deliver today.

  • This for more for the professional player not a beginner.

  • Today's. Epiphone G-400 standard 62 is more for the professional player than the beginner so is the limited edition 50th anniversary 1961 Reissue sg. These two sg's I would never put in the hands of a beginner.

  • Good review. Great to hear the various pickups in clean and gain.

  • i love this sound , how can i get this kind of sound on my s-1?

  • im buying this guitar

  • It's not a G400 std but a Vintage G400 ! >8<

  • I have a G400 and for the price i paid, can't complain about it. But when i play standing up, the neck seems heavy, it tends to slide down. Is there something to do for it to keep steady? When Angus plays his SG, he lets go of it and it doesn't slide.

  • @retanoab stop being a fag. that's how mine stopped sliding. or you can put a strap nut on the right horn.

  • @albertassociate appreciate the advice, but you seriously aren't able of giving it without being a douche..?

  • @retanoab i could try but i doubt i could actually do it.

  • You disgraced the SG... Like, what the fuck... if you're gonna play that thing, play it like a man.

  • This is my old guitar and it sucks dont get it unless u have an amazing amp

  • Bought one last year and I f*cking love it!! If you're considering buhing a guitar and you're on a limited budget, this is the guitar for you.

Hoping to get a proper SG or the Angus Young custom soon.... :D

  • this or les paul studio

  • @helloimkevin10 cause it's a great guitar, period.

  • how much euros does this guitar cost...?I have seen on the net that the same guitar is and Granite and not only Epiphone....

  • @thanos607 well in netherlands there about €260,- if u can find a vintage vs6 same price u should get that it has better pick ups from wilkinson

  • @thanos607 250 exei file mou...

  • @vasilhsable tr pou da ston Naka leei 185 k einai Granite...telos pantwn idios sxediasmos 8a ne...8a dokimasw k 8a doume...euxaristw pantos!!!

  • i have this guitar. its GREAT, buy it. seriously

  • I see a lot of people with a SG for church gigs. What makes the guitar good for church?

  • @helloimkevin10 it's devil horns ;) hahahah joking it plays good... i actually use my squier strat for church it's never let me down... but i've tried this epi... not bad at all

  • this was my first guitar.... the only problem i have is that its so neck heavy its not funny

  • what amp is being used on this video?

  • Outstanding review!

  • great review, i should be getting this guitar in a few weeks. only thing is, on the gibson website it says the guitar is $665?

  • @samterrybmx check guitar center/ amazon

  • try a website called thonmann my epiphone sg cost £180

  • Thanks for the great review!

I am now setting this guitar in my sights....am a classical style player stepping out into the world of electric....just want it for noodling.

    Dr. Kingman

  • I have been playing guitar for 3 years and have a squier strat kit. Is this a REAL guitar? Cuz I want to get a new, better one for christmas

  • is this good good for playing speedmetal?

  • Its an awesome guitar.

I'm selling the pickups found in this guitar, the Epiphone 57ch (G) and Hotch (G) Guitar pickup set. They also come in the Epiphone Les paul.

Up on Ebay, search: "Epiphone 57ch (G) and Hotch (G) Guitar pickup set"

Great rock tone, cleans up well.

    PM me if your interested.

  • i love this guitar, i have mine cherry non-faded and it rocks !

you can play live with it too

  • coldplay

  • Every good guitarist knows that most of the Epiphones sg's and les paul's are way under rated. So i took my 2010 Epiphone G400 standard 1962 sg to a top luthier in new jersey. Said look it over and if it was made the same way in usa how much $800 to $850

  • worn cherry or worn brown?

  • I hate that I can't play righthanded guitars >.< FML

  • @Zam0rak41 there are some left handed epiphone sg ;)

  • @Zam0rak41 Look on NevadaMusic for leftie guitars (:

  • fuck yeah.

    mid range.

  • Would this be a good studio guitar?

  • @almudjk no, get a les paul or strat. american made... mexican strats are good too

  • Hello. I've been playing for 4 years on the electric guitar. I am interested in the Epiphone SG G-400. I play every single day for about an hour. Would this guitar be good for me? I tried this guitar at the store and a gibson sg standard but I didn't hear a difference for some reason. So anyways, would this guitar be good for me?

  • as much as i love my gibson sg i cant stand epiphone ones.

  • @saodmv big difference?

  • After 5 days of research there were only 4,000 Epiphone limited edition 50th anniversary 1961 sg's made in the world.

  • Also Vintage Gibson has said that the Epiphone custom shop limited edition 50th anniversary 1961 sg is 100% true to the original Gibson 1961 sg. They also said that this model is crafted so well that Gibson themselfs couldnt do any better.

  • A recent usa consumer report stated that the Gibson USA Authorized Epiphone sg's are some of the very best crafted guitars in the world at any price.

  • Made for the people to get that Angus Young sound without throwing you back 2,000 dollars

  • Angus Young!!!!!!!!

  • how to love lil wayne that was nice

  • i cant choose this or the standard

  • Love the sound hate the cooler

  • if i want to buy the exact guitar you have in the video, do i head for the g-400 or the vintage g-400 ? the color of yours its only available on the vintage one

  • @Aiacos90 The exact guitar in the video is the G 400 with 'faded cherry' finish. Not to be confused with the

faded finish which is that ugly brown color.

  • i could also get a epiphone les paul stuidio for £370

  • which is better this that comes with a amp for £350 or a ibanez art 120 without a amp for the same i like metal and rock

  • @metallicafan123ful the lower class ibanez's suck. i use this for punk and metal. its a good starter, the neck is quite thin. lasts 5 years.

  • @yugiohfrancis i could get a esp ex 400 second hand for £300 or a jackson king v js30kv with a line 6 spider 4 for £350 second hand which is better and could it be fake

  • @metallicafan123ful i tend to like esp ltd so I'd say the ex400 and buy i separate line 6 but depends what you're playing

  • @yugiohfrancis im on a buget of around £300 so not enough to buy it sepratly if i bought the esp i would buy a fender frontman 15 for £50 i am just being playing for 6 mounths but have a incredable teacher

  • @metallicafan123ful I'd still get the esp because if you keep that amp and get a new guitar then it would cost more than keeping the guitar and getting a new amp

  • @yugiohfrancis so i should get the esp and the frontman

  • @metallicafan123ful yea, upgrade to a better amp later when you get money

  • Can you play metal songs with this one?

  • @Zam0rak41 No. No you can't. LOL!

  • @Zam0rak41 switch out the pickups and yes, thats what i did. i have one of the really old ones, and i loaded it with a zakk wylde EMG 81/85 combo and its awesome. not my main axe, just a backup. but it sounds amazing none the less. :)

  • @TriviumAscendancy1 Yea, but what are pickups? I'm not so familiar with the English music talk, sorry (:

  • @Zam0rak41 they're basically the shiny things you see under the strings on an electric guitar. they're electromagnets and they just pick up the vibrations and send it to the amplifier, creating your sound. its fine man. hope this helped :)

  • the ones made in china are by far the better ones.

  • if u want a REALLY good epi g400, search for an older modell. the korean modells (before 2005) are awesome. i just bought a '96 modell and OMG.... awesome.. much much better than the chinese models. and the older models are cheaper, cause they are second hand guitars.

newer G-400s are not bad actually.

ps: sorry for my shitty english

  • Is the Epiphone Limited Edition 1966 G-400 Electric Guitar about the same as this? Not much more expensive I think it's just cosmetic stuff.

  • @SlayerExopsGamers same thing dif pickguard and thats about it

  • @SlayerExopsGamers I have the 1966, it's 100 bucks more expensive and 2 thousand dollars better.

  • I have that one too :O

  • As you showed how the different pickups sound I was hoping for more chords. But it is still a good review

  • @hangen1 angus plays with a gibson, of course this epiphone is good for ACDC! if you play live, it's gonna rock

  • is it good for ACDC songs ??

  • @hangen1 of course! angus young(the lead guitarist for ACDC) uses this guitar!!!

  • @danielburgess3100 he is using the sg standard bro, dont get mixed up

  • Comment removed

  • it sounds out of tune...

  • Comment removed

  • @cheapknockoffbassist can it be use like a Floyd rose. As in it just dosent give a low tone when you push down but can it give a high tone when you pull it up?

  • Cheapknockoffbassist

  • @happyface788

Check out the "stetsbar." It's $300 but well worth it. You'll need a set of locking tuners, but there's no drilling required for it.

  • damn how to get those sounds? what kinda amps he's using and is there any pedal effect?

  • be aware people how much effects pedals enter into the sound. Ive got this guitar and he's got tones i haven't managed to get out of it yet. so if you want that sound you will also need pedals.

  • @tytoo94 deam really there like 150$+ i thought you could just put a simple whammy with out buying all that. is it worth the drilling into the guitar?
