  • i love ballet these streches really helped

  • I am 17 and I would really love to start as well. When I was little I dreamed of being a professional dancer!

  • I'm 13 and starting after new years! Actually have something to look forward to now! :)

I'm finally not letting my weight stand in front of me..

  • So I'm seventeen....and really chunky...and really tall...and yet i really wish i could do ballet. i can point my toes though!!! and im pretty flexible for a fat person.

Billy Elliot brought me here...i just wanna learn to dance like him.

  • I'm 26 and I want to take a class just for me not to be a pro or nothing.

  • @daglamorous69 Yeah you can do that :) thats what I'm doing aswell!

  • @julzeatspu me to. im 17 and i wanna take ballet, but i feel like its a little late for me.

  • @SaydeSecret late? come on, I know a woman who was 30 and started balet lessons :) she's not a professional dancer of course, but she dance beautifully :)

  • @julzeatspu lol unless youu use a hand rail.????[:

  • I'M NOT THAT FLEXIBLE YET.

  • @julzeatspu countertop dogg!

  • HEY DUDE, you can use the furniture at home! I use that

  • @malumalu92 truee

  • I'm 16 and I'm crashing Grade 5 RAD ballet. I'm starting in August and I know the class is going to be really hard since I'm just beginning, so these should hopefully help me get some practice before I start! :-)

  • Can you say Dolly Dinkle five times fast?

  • @Temptresstoo darn no :(

  • what makes it look so bad is that she's not holding her middle

  • @julzeatspu use a tall table to rest your foot on, or even a tell footboard on your bed, thats what i do.

  • @julzeatspu you can make one easy

  • its barre not bar .. its french doll .

  • i really really want to join ballet but i am already fourteen... besides,im nt sure if i hav the right body for ballet... do i need specific physical appearances to join ballet??

  • Thanks I am an adult beginner taking classes at DIW and this helps with home practice. Not perfect but neither am I. Thanks

  • Bad !!! She is not stretchable

  • u can tke sum dance class at skool its cheaper..thats wat i do :)

  • @julzeatspu um, you can use a countertop/couch

  • @julzeatspu ---true!!!

  • That was the highest second position for an arm that i've ever seen...

  • can she encourage joleen in a different wqay??

instgead of saying 'that was beutiful joleen?'

  • so basically I'm seventeen and I really want to take ballet lessons, lol a little bit of a late start...

  • @OhMyLantaCousins uhmm . no , you can still make it up (:

  • @OhMyLantaCousins actually its never too late, one girl (sabra) who went on sytycd only started dancing at age 16 and everyone else in the competitiion started at like 2 or 3 years old, and she went on to win the season!

  • AHH make sure ur head is facing ur arm when you devlope back!!!

  • turn out supporting leg, fix hands brabar tooo close together, don't roll in feet WORK ON YOUR TECHNIQUE

  • QUESTION.... ammm when you have your feet in the bar the litle finger its supposed to touch the bar to have a great en dehor?

  • I am very very sad, Im almost thirteen but right now I;m twelve and where I live there are no dance schools.... I wannna learn ballet, plz someone teach it to me

  • This ballet dancer has noooooooo technique at all.

  • @julzeatspu lol you can use a table or anything high enough.

  • Yoland is very pretty, and stop hating on her! She is just a beginner!

  • She forget to do it with her leg behind her...

  • wow all that effort to get the leg up on the barre in devant...

  • Learning the splits was without question, or even second-thought... the most painstaking part of all my ballet training. And I'm as flexible as Mr. Fantastic. Bones like rubber bands, limber as a yoga grandmaster.

But hell yeah, kids. These delicate lady have it right. You gotta keep at it. Feel it. The pain is almost beautiful... You're right. Bless you, prima ballerina. You ARE ballet.

Thanks again. I love class with all of you.

    --Your Faithful Student, Dane Youssef

  • @SURFUR how much time did it take to be very very flexible?

  • you could just use a piece of furniture like the highest end of a sofa... shes not that good either...

  • @julzeatspu I do... KML

  • porqué se ven letras??????????

  • i have just turned 12 i dont no anything about ballet but i would really love to learn it is it to hard to start now and any suggestions of were i should go to learn ballet i live in adelaide

  • Ofcourse its not too late. Its never too late! I dont know where adelaide is but I sugest looking on the web for dance studios closests to you! You should also visit the studio before you sign up for a class to make sure if its for you/if you like it. Many studios will allow you to take a sample or something so that you can try it before signing up so you might have to ask if you can do that!

    Good luck to you! <3

  • @Gioremma it's not too late, I started at 12 too! Just ask your mom or somebody. It will be harder to get along with the class though, but you CAN accomplish everything they do if you work hard. Every country is diferent at ballet though, like mine is kinda crappy, but at least is something, I don't know where adelaide though, but I bet you can become a great ballerina if you want!

  • expert village....really?... damn

  • The problem some of you have noted is that the girl demonstrating the stretches does not have her right let properly 'turned out' and she has her back arched which sticks her butt out. She begins with an almost-turned-out develope which should be performed with her right knee in line with her right shoulder but her knee is too far forward. For GREAT technique watch the video "ballet techniques - control" posted by 'littlechristina' . Those girls are amazing!

  • this is the exact same thing i do in my lessons, and my teacher went ot the royal ballet :) haha!

  • Comment removed

  • what r u guys thinking? she's amazing!!! I've been in ballet for 10 years and so I should know that that was good!

  • she has really nice buttocks...

  • not for nothing... is there a wrong way to stretch on a bar? sorry but I cant find anything wrong... maybe she cant stretch any further...

  • This is the begginer stuff?! Daaaang...

    ._.

  • i think the problem is that she is tilting her pelvis forward so her butt is sticking out

  • sorry, but did anyone see her extremely crappy first position and passe? and dont be saying that shes giving it 100% because thats what people learn first. she should not have been in this video. and i bet the only reason she did them crappy was because she was so excitded to show off.

  • To 'sonnyjoone17' - just because first position is learned first, doesn't mean she was correctly taught or that she is able to achieve proper first position - so she may have been giving 100% of what SHE can do. I agree, she has a lousy first and improper turn-out but her feet are lovely.

  • sorry but she sucks! They should have got someone better

  • im in college doin a performin arts course and that encludes ballet and its really hard cuz iv never done ballet before and most of the people there hav done it since they wer 3 :/

so i think ppl who are dissin this girl shud rele b nicer cuz atleast shes givin 100%

  • To FearTheFlyinDoughnut -

She may be giving 100 % but she is supposed to be demonstrating proper technique and her technique is not very good.

  • sorry, juf. Maar u heeft een bril nodig, want uw leerling staat scheef.Ze staat niet recht op haar standbeen en haar heupen staan ook scheef!!

  • awsome vid i wanna do ballet some time too! :)

  • Listen. to everyone who is scared to start ballet because someone will make fun of them. or take the piss. or anything like that. do it. ballet is respected and you can show them how amazing it is. i used to be embarressed because i have done ballet since i was 3. but now im proud. so just do it anyway. you can be whoever you want to be.

  • My mother ordered me a ballet DVD for beginners.... she would have signed me up for a class but the economy and taxes these days are driving us CRAZYY.. and ballet classes are expensive but yet so proffesional and beautiful.. im hoping when i get older I can chuck the dvd and get serious with a real studio.

  • ALL those expert village videos are stupid!!!!

  • People are saying, if you want to learn, go to a school rather than internet instructional, but then someone could say they go to a school etc etc. but it'd be this one displayed here, and they'd still get stick for it.

  • ugh. i was trying to see if i could get anything from these videos but everyone says not to, but to enroll in a class. but it costs sooo much money! =(

  • i know how expensive it can be, but ballet classes are a million times better then learning online, plus you have a professional place to dance in and it is nice and soothing :) good luck!

  • To 'ulovemeh' -- you can learn ballet from videos -- just not THESE videos because the models are not demonstrating proper technique. The advantage of a class is that the teacher watches and corrects your improper technique before it becomes a problem. You can use the videos and take a class once in awhile if you find a studio that allows walk ins. Be sure to explain your situation and ask the teacher to give you pointers.

  • @uloovmeh i know right?!?!?!

  • @uloovmeh me 2! but dont listen to other ppl listen 2 ur self!

  • ok so far i have not had too much to comment apart from some obvious things, but this is NOT a good training video...

beginners - don't try to learn off a DVD, it can do more harm than good. ballet should be taught in person cos a plié is so much more than "feet together, toes turned out and the arm following"

this is crazy! i can think of at least 5-7 other things this second that you need to think of when you do a demi plié

  • ya people commenting r so critical. she's a teacher how cld she not be doing it right? Besides, I dnt see any of you people with instructional videos. Always like to criticize and judge and say people aren't doing things right, but dont have the balls or experience to make a video yourself. Whteva!

  • i totally agree with you!!

  • The people who are commenting and being critical have probably taken ballet classes, and know what's right or wrong. HOwever, just because you've taken lessons in something doesn't mean you can teach it. this woman has probably only taken a couple of lessons, or is playing by ear.

  • Well, having danced for 20 or so years it's easy to tell that this person either hasn't been trained well or just hasn't been dancing for too long. This video is for beginners so maybe that's why they have her marking, but you don't need that much of a trained eye to see she's not even placed correctly.

  • To JeanKmr ---- just because someone is a teacher does NOT mean they know how to teach! And, those of us who are commenting on the dancer's incorrect technique are doing so because this video is SUPPOSED to be showing proper technique but it is not. Therefore it isn't a good idea to use this for learning purposes.

  • when you do plie your knees must be exactly over your feet.... and her back was all the time wrong and her hands, too.! she's not an expert! jesus!

  • Fail. this shows you how NOT to do plies!

  • im a beginner in ballet =D

  • how old are you??co im 17 i wanna start learning ballet but i think it's too too late :)...but some ppl say to me that's never too late to learn ballet

  • there is no age limit to start learning ballet, however to pursue a professional career starting at the age of 17 and try become a classical dancer might be a bit of a challenge. ballet is great as exercise for everyone, but should be taught by good teachers. i would not recommend these videos as being good material to learn from!

go for it, enroll to classes and see how you like it!

i love ballet and the discipline you put yourself under!

  • How you shoud NOT do plies.

  • To 'alnklar' -- you should not stick your butt out, it should be tucked under, back is straight, not arched, shoulders over hips. The turnout comes from the hips rather than just the lower leg being twisted out which twists the knee and often causes the feet to roll toward the floor rather than having a nice, high arch in the foot. For a demi plie, the heel doesn't lift from the floor. Watch "ballet techinques - plie" posted by littlechristina !

  • those hips are not squares!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah I think the teacher should wear a more ballett t-shirt ;D

and I do agree it's not a that perfect thing for beginners... the one her should lern to elongate the foots and legs and to have a good and correct stand on the supporting leg... and for beginners a that large ?kombre?(don't know how to write it XD) isn't good, cause then they'll get in a hollow back like Eileen did... or I just couldn't see it exactly bicause of the biig t-shirt :P

  • not Eileen sry^^ the other girl of course ;)

also the hand and the hip-moves by the way^^...mhm

  • what?

  • Heey Are those steps also for boys??? =/

  • To "luxsk8" -- Yes, boys take the same classes that girls do!

  • i think her bum sticks out a little too much. i dont know i could be wrong.

  • the first stretch is deffo not a begginer one!

  • I know why they're free!

  • Wtf? She doesnt need to diet :s Fucked up ppl.

  • it's not difficult to be better than her :)

  • Yep.... haha! My little sister is better than her- my sister is nine! LOL

  • boring!!!!!!!!!!!! there should have been more people joking hahhah its cool and it helps you do the spilts!

  • must the chick be congratulated for every stretch she does...? lol wtf that's funny, well doooone! :P

  • les nt be tooo snide giuys bu yhh i admit she is crap. and ht wasd no where near beaqutiful. she needs to get nip n tuck soon lmao

  • her butt is sticking out...so not a good stretching example

  • lmfao

    |

vvvvv its true! shes got such a fat ass! and its ugly

  • i understand what you are saying. the dancer pops up and down in her plies, and her booty is up.

but the nasty comments don't work...

if you are so knowledgeable, then why not make your own videos and post them?

  • ew.. shes not even turned out....

  • hips are square... bum is out :)

    could she blink anymore?

  • you have to (i mean, have to) hold a stretch for at least 30 seconds for it to do you any good.

  • sorry i'm a italian girl but this video is horribleeeeeeeee ....beutiful????!!!!! oh my God

  • What do you mean you teach ballet!!!! i'm in australia and over here people who teach ballet normally know what they are crapping on about! this video has motivated me to learn brain surgery and post it for you all to learn from, keep up all the hard work and try and get another job, kisses

  • wow her hand in second and fifth position is kind of whacky

  • You guys don't need to be so hard on the video. It's obviously if you actually really wanted to dance, you would take lessons at a school, not from a youtube video. This is probably just for those who have absolutely no dance experience and can't even lift their leg off the ground; beginners. At my dance school, we do the same stretch, just longer and more intensity. Therefore, again, it's just the basics, not rocket-science ballet.

  • I repeat..I only practice ballet for only 1 year and 4 months..I don't think I'm a good dancer..But that IS HORRIBLE!

Please DO NOT TRY TO LEARN FROM THIS..! When u go to a real school u will understand wot we r saying!

    Good Luck!

  • Bassicly the first thing they teach u in ballet is that your CHEST Must ''Touch'' your leg..because u need you bag to be straight and it help your turn out..NOT YOUR NOSE!

Then u can see in other vids that they teach u a demipliè and her heels came off the ground ..please u can NEVER let your heels came off in a demi!!!!

Her Piquès are terrible..she never does pliè in her base leg!

And this girl's hips where not in the right place!

  • Ohh Please! I agree whit you...there's no need to insult people..but U can't call this teach..I'm not advanced..not even Intermediate..but U can notice..that's a Mess!

If U want to learn..go to a school..because ANYONE can Upload vids and call herself a teacher..

  • its your chest to your knee not your nose

  • Yes that is exavtly right! your suppose to trun out from your hips not your knees on you turnout! because if you turn from your knees they will give you problems and sooner than you think! Also never force your turnout because it can also give hip and knee problems! like tendonittis! it is actually a real problem even though it sounds like a made up name!

  • ...

    could be better

  • Wow... I suppose that all of you guys who give mean comments on these veideos are advanced and good in ballet, so if real experts are as mean and unpolite as you are, then I rather learn ballet with expert village than going to a real school...

You don't need to insult poeple, it's enough with syaing that they are doing it wrong(and explain why!!!!)

  • sure it wasn't that great, but thats no reason for all of you to be so nasty.

The girl might not be naturally flexible, or have natural turnout but shes trying and maybe when the teacher said it was beautiful, it was because it was the best for her.

Expert village isn't meant for people who want to be pro ballerinas, its meant for people who maybe want to try ballet, and this gives them a taste.

Sure there were some things wrong, but I'm sure your technique is perfect either right?

  • She is not turning out her passe, supporting her arm or the middle section or her body

Her demi plie is just down and down (i really not sure can I explain this), she is not doing it elastic (always streching up when doing plie down. And she doesn't turn out her plie, so her knee is going in (this can be very dangerous for your knees later!)

At the side her leg is not turned out on the bar, and her butt is bent (how can explain it?), well her hips are not in a square.

I hope i could help you.

  • omgh this is terrible... My heart is crying blood when the teacher is saying "beautiful, nice nice"..

  • OMG!even though im a beginner in ballet its so obvious she's doing it wrongly!why is her butt sticking out?!and it's obvious that she's not flexible

  • All of those who have commented on the 'Expert Village' series may be great dancers...but your spelling indicates a lack of education. Lose the arrogance, and go back to school.

  • fuck...that was nasty -.- even i could teach that better than her!!!

  • argh "that was beautifull"!!! fuck that lady has no glue about ballett!!! Damn why she even claims to be expert! If anyone starts ballett, dont listen to her and try her way!!! my oh my!!

  • Devlope?? IT'S DEVELOPE! IF YOU CAN'T EVEN PRONOUNCE THE RIGHT WORD YOU SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING DANCE CLASSES!!! UGH!

  • thats the worst example

  • AWFUL!!!!!!!!:-S

  • uh the first thing yo9u learn is to turn out

  • No coments. I think the teacher needs classes for bedinners as well. I don't blame the student. She is only a result of what her teacher can't teach her properly.

  • Expert doesn't know anything about dancing

  • her butt was sticking out to much and her foot didnt look very turned out in some of it

  • shes got crab hands !!!

  • wow. someone should push her butt in, or something. help the poor girl.

  • omgd!i got a cramp!!!

  • her legs outta possition when shes on demi pointe shes got her weight in the wrong place and her bums stikin out!

  • ok...

is there actually any BEGINNER Beginning Ballet Videos lol

Cause theres no way brand new ballet people would know how to keep your legs and all that

  • she is a hot mess!

  • Bahahah! :))

  • omg...the first bendy thingy's (you can't call those plie's..) her knee was rolling over her foot...this is a really bad example for ppl...

  • her butt is sticking out.

  • that's bad

    look at her en dehors

her knees are not in the same line as her feet during the pliés

  • I could not keep my eyes off of her bad hand position

  • I know. I noticed that and I've been taking lessons for only a month! :s

  • Isn't her supporting leg meant to be under her, It is wayyyy out to the left of her, so when she advances to stretches on demi pointe or whatever she has her weight in the correct place?

  • i started ballet at 6 and even then we learned to turn out

  • really bad.

  • cool

  • yea. it's for beginners. we are not that good. get over it.

  • yeah but this is suppost to be an example. it's poorly done.

  • mmmmmmmmmmm.............. un popko pobre!ª!!!

  • TERRIBLE feet flexed
