  • always heard that white was only for funerals there!lol

  • Give you thumbs up instead!

  • Those look like prom dresses and ur fiancé looks beautiful, I'm not sure when this video was made but I assume she's your wife now :)

  • those are cocktail dresses? x_X they looked more like dresses for a prom. an expensive prom at a private school or something...

i mean they are pretty but assuming all your friends get married at the same time are they going to reuse the same dress or buy a ton of those super fancy ones? imo you'd be better off using that money for a house payment

  • Do more women in Japan wear wedding dresses now instead of wedding kimono?

  • hi what is the nAME OF THE WEDDING SHOP I MAKE BOUQUETS AND REALLYLIKE THE WAY THEY ARE BOXED

  • She looked so beautiful!

  • lol yeah a cocktail is much more short, usually knee length or even shorter. lol

  • It would be called a gown in the west, a cocktail dress is something that is shorter, and more flirty.

  • We call the ones you were showing "formals". Cocktail dresses are for cocktail parties; they look similar to formals, but are generally shorter and often less fancy.

  • a cocktail dress is every dress which has the colour of a cocktail (like green for caipirinha or something...)

  • Yeah, a ball gown or party dress (:

  • 1:11 cassie - miss ur touch haa!

  • hey you have a new set of wheels.....that's different from the white one your'e always using....nice....

  • nooooooooooo, thats not a cocktail dress here..

its more like a ballgown indeed..

  • I would call them ballgowns. A cocktail dress is a lot simpler I think. =o

  • Do u have any trouble in Japan getting the right sizes in clothes there? The reason I ask is men over there are generally shorter and a lot slimmer built than western guys? As I do know Japanese woman r totally built different stature ad totally different in sizes there compared western woman so can buying clothes for overseas relatives can be a headache I bet. Also maybe u could do video on clothes in japan and on what size clothes fit best to western bodies and any tips what clothes to look 4

  • It´s the usual for the men over there go with the bride buy the dress? Over here (Portugal) guys will only see the bride with her dress when she´s on her way to the altar. They say it´s bad luck see the woman before that.

  • @andrephx90

Yeah, they don't believe that "bad luck to see the bride" thing here..

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Funny...we´re talking about a "superstitious" country and there´s no such thing in this particular subject :)

  • @andrephx90 its exactly same rule in the uk too but we have a say saying here if the groom see's the dress before the wedding the saying goes the marriage won't last long and it will be a unhappy marriage if you see it before the big day . Also there is a trad. wear the bride will wear something borrowed something blue and something new and good luck will always come to u we have load of old says that go along with weddings here

  • @DanielR305 eheh looks like we don´t only share the same timezone! That blue thingy, the borrowed item and the new one are also common over here with the same "lucky" purposes ;)

  • @andrephx90 in mexico they believe that as well

  • @andrephx90 Thats a tradition in america too :)

  • @andrephx90

    How about taking photo shoot?!!

  • @Angelyoon Here, at least to the last ones I went, they take pictures at the church after the wedding, then they take at the place where the after party first some pretty fancy ones with the married couple and then with all the guests at it. ;) Then....off to eat!!! :D

  • i'm gonna dress like a queen when i get married! ( * 3 *)

  • congrats!

  • in the states we don't use white gloves to touch the dress .

we just touch it and then go lol but we do check 4 spots we need to put gloves on if we want to touch the dress .

  • Is it just me who can't figure out how to give a five?

  • Wow how sad, Everything in their was European. :-/

  • Cocktail dresses from where I'm from are a little bit more.... skanky.... ^^; ( I feel so bad!)

Sugoi, she's b.e.a.utiful. :D She's very lucky to have you. ^^ Best wishes. (even though, I am very late to saying this. :P)

  • Awesome. More wedding perperations in Japan.

  • I thought the gorrm wasn't allowed to see the dress!

  • Iam kinda late but, Congrats anyways ^^

and best wishs from Timmins ontario canada ^^

  • my sister is getting married this summer and so it's funny to see the differences between shopping for a dress in the states and shopping for one in Japan. how funny! thank you for posting like always!

  • All those beautiful dresses *w* Haha, I wish I was in that shop ;D !

    She's so pretty!

    5 stars (:

  • So the dress she tried on is the final pick? She is soooooo pretty in it!

  • After watching about 40-video's before this one I had a good feeling you were in this for the long run. So, from one stranger friend to another.....Congratulations to the both of you, best wishes and make your dreams come true. More videos after the wedding still? thanks...

  • @slapassman

Another 240 videos still to watch!

And I will keep making them ^_^

  • I*m a bit curious... after the wedding,are you going on a honeymoon ? *****

ps. she is so sweet ... wishing you the best ...

  • @SuperCrazySPIRIT

    Small honeymoon, thank you ^_^

  • It is common to wear the white gloves while trying on dresses - at least here in Australia anyway (I only got married last year). In fact, most of the time you would definitely NOT be allowed to film/take photos of the dresses and most assistants change with you just in case you have a hidden camera!!

It is becoming more common for brides in Australia to have a second dress for the reception, but it is still the minority.

    Good luck for your wedding!

  • I think the white glove thing is a good idea.

  • wooohooo congrats my favourite dude is going to marry!!

    Nice dress by the way!

    5Stars^^

  • @nightskill01

    Thanks for the 5.

  • in the west those are definitely not cocktail dresses, you're right, we would consider them more of like a ball gown thing. Cocktail dresses are very short and thin, something girls wear to clubs and bars.

  • Is it common in Japan for the man to accompany his future bride to the bridal shop when trying on dresses for the wedding? It's a great video. Thank you. Your wife to be is beautiful! Is that the dress she chose?

  • @grassnuggets

It is common for this dude to :-)

I haven't seen a lot of other dudes..

    Yes, that is her dress.

  • wow, the cocktail dresses are hideous, I'd think of them more as outdated, unflattering prom/evening dresses (think, slight upgrade from the girls in Napoleon Dynamite).

The future Mrs looks absolutely lovely in her dress. I wish you both the happy, rewarding marriage! :)

  • The dresses aren't bad, but the cocktail ones don't seem practical or mobile. They look very warm and uncomfortable. But that's just my opinion. I would go for something light.

  • lol...those are not cocktail dresses!! those are more like evening gowns..haha..funny. btw, congrats!

  • hey good vid and lol never heard of renting can tottaly understand on the part of th guy about renting the dress but for the girl its her "once in a lifetime expercience" so i can understand why she is happy to buy one

  • I was waiting for the weeping and wailing when you saw the prices.

  • Good Luck 2 u 2!!!!! u 2 look good together to me!!!! so ur wedding is in April...becauce u said 4 mounths ....soooo its aprol right???? lol nice video tel ur fe that she looks nice in her dress and serisouly wat was with all those flowers on the first coktail dress u showed...i was saying there wer wayyyy 2 much of those!! LOL

  • @SerenityBeleverXX13

Yeah, was WAY to flowery, wasn't it!

  • Congratulations! I noted that your bride to be opted for Western dress as opposed to traditional. She looks lovely, so, what are you wearing lol? Seriously though, congratulations to you both. May your partnership be prosperous. You are right, those would be considered ball gowns.

  • ugly dresses.................nothing specials

  • @sexyserpiente32

    yeah, nothin g specials

  • I was wondering, do they have dances at the weddings?? or is it just kinda formal?

  • @totaldramaqueen108

    Not usually dancing... pretty formal.

  • They dont allow you to take photos or videos at the wedding dress stores here in Australia! Also i think youre right, those "cocktail" dresses look more like ball gowns..

  • congratsss !

hope you have a beuty and good marriage!!! =D

  • Aww. Congratulations :D

The dress is beautiful. You and your fiancee seem happy together ^^

  • Are you getting married to a Japanese dude?

Best Wishes to Both of You!!!!

  • Not bad idea about the gloves , wihite clothing get dirthy very easy....but you are not supposed to like at the bride!!!!! before the weeding...

  • @softypapa

    Thanks friend.

I am trying to keep this more about Japanese weddings than about us...

    Thanks for your support!

  • those look more like white prom dresses to me...

  • all wedding dresses are pretty :D no matter what culture.

  • Cool! Wedding in japan looks verry fancy!

  • I would say those "cocktail" dresses were more like ball-gowns but meh; different culture = different words for things, different customs etc...

  • @InSpaceAndTime2012

    so true :-D

  • When I saw pics of my neighbors Cambodian wedding, they had gold suits and dresses on one day, they weighed a lot and wore all day. (two day wedding cause different religions)

  • 1/2 way through the goings on hahaha...you'll have a great day mate, your bride looks beautiful : )

  • @MicknFumi

    Thanks mate!

  • Do most people have western style weddings in Japan?

Your soon to be wife looks delightful in her dress.

  • @snozzcumbers

It is the fashion to have this style..

    thank you!

  • I meant to get married to a Japanese girl...

Guess i'd had to go through all this to

Love your vids dude Keep Up the great work.

  • @clarig525

    Thanks for your support!

  • I've always wondered how marriage works in Japan, it looks very similar to the western way with white dresses, flowers and the man in a suit, is it influenced by the west? How did they get married before westerners came to Japan?

Who perform the ceremony and where, since the don't have churches or priests?

    Anyway congratulations :)

  • @Ranact

Old style was shinto or buddhist priests at a temple wearing kimono and hakama.

Modern style.. you will see in this play list.. more coming!

  • Holy shit man you getting hitched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whooooo hooooo (screamming like a wild Mariachi)

Any words of wisdom you could share to aid others to get to your wonderful situation??

  • @GrandMasterSuperPhD

I have no wisdom at all :-)

  • Socrates could not have said it better himself.........

Without trying so much was said...thank you

  • remember your always wrong and she is always right xD

    happy wife happy life

  • cocktail dresses usually look slimmer, simple, shorter, a little revealing but still classy. It more of a sleak, slim dress that is both sexy yet formal. These dresses are more of a ball gown since there are more elaborate in the detail and poofed out with a bell bottom. they are much more formal. some call them ball gowns, prom dresses, formal/floor length wear, but are mainly called "evening gowns" in the stores.

  • @VSophiaV

    That is what I imagined!!

  • Hi First of all .. Omedetou !! I love your channel take me back to my old Japan days !! Congrads and also post some videos on your wedding as well!!

  • @kaushilopez

    Thanks!

maybe I will post some of it....

  • thanks, great video.. happy for you! :)

  • @Wilhelm9080

    Thank you!

  • Your a lucky man ...congrats and good luck

  • @SmokeGhost91

    Yes, I am.

    Thank you!

  • She looks great! Best of luck or the up comming day!

  • Thank you!

  • Congrats...she is very Kawaii!! Your lucky...I wish you the best...thanx for the videos!!!!

  • Thanks Tara!

  • Knowing how long it takes women to choose things while shopping, im dreading the day my girlfriend has to choose a wedding dress! ... Think il be sick that day, i can feel it

  • Cocktail dresses are usually shorter (just above, on or below the knee) and simpler than the ones on the vid. Those looked more like evening gowns or ones that you'd wear to a formal or prom.

    :) loved the glove idea

  • Congratulations! Your lover is very cute!!

A white dress is very suited, too.

  • gorgeous!

i<3 seven layer dresses with lots of lace :D

hope u post ur wedding on here ;] <3

  • @shynekogirl1

    Maybe some of it :-)

  • congrats! She's cute, you've done pretty well! Keep the videos coming

  • @Rocker3829

    Thanks!

    More coming every week!

  • Congratulations on getting closer to your wedding... your wife is very pretty.

On a side note, I think that the lady in black, who is handling the dresses at 0:25 is very, very attractive.

  • how stressing that must be. i was only a bride's maid, so i got to skip the whole picking out the dress fun. your fiance seems to be taking it in stride. she's very cute, i might add. :) good luck to the two of you. maybe you have many, many children in the future. :P

  • white gloves, excellent idea, I have been in stores here and seen the slobs with their hands all over a shirt I want to buy, so I wash everything I buy before I wear it. Of course you can't do that with a wedding dress.

  • Over here it's bad luck to see youre gf/bride in her dress before the wedding.

  • Awesome wedding dress really pretty!

Will she wear a Kimono?! :D

  • Your wife is very pretty, and seems very nice! Congratulations on everything, and good luck :)

  • She's cute! Congrats, dude. I'm really happy for you.

  • We finaly get to meet your wife :) Good luck with everything, and stay patient ^^

  • Yeah, cocktail dresses are never floor-length. Those fit more in the realm of formals or ball gowns, I guess.

  • Can you also wear a kimono for a wedding if you want? Or is it all westernized now with the white dress and everything?

  • Lucky man, she IS lovely :)

Hope you two have a great wedding!

  • They do everything better in Japan too bad I live in the US. Good Luck, asian women are awesome.

  • too bad you live in the US?????? i would kill to get a permanent residence in the US.

  • Congratulations to you. Hope to see your wedding and share your joy. Of course, must ask permission from your bride if she wants to share.

  • whoa! CONGRATS MAN! hope you have a fun wedding!

  • Five fashionable stars :)

They do use gloves at dress shops in the west, but usually only at the more expensive ones. And you're right, those are commonly called ball gowns in the west, cocktail dresses are usually considered slimmer or down right slinky.

01:48 She is very beautiful, that tabbed bodice works well for her :)

    ~Kat

  • Just as you said, 5 stars for the dude filming the dresses. :D

  • OMG i didn't know u are about to get married,i'm really happy for u .CONGRATULATIONS

  • If this is how much money a guy has to flush to get married in Japan... Then I don't want to know how much it is for a divorce!

  • Comment removed

  • I'll field this one.

Google it, buddy, and leave the man to his wedding.

  • yeah what leloodallasmultipass said.

    I will google it also.

  • dude, don't ask a guy about divorce before he is even married

  • yeah my bad old dude. i realized how rude that was right after i posted it.

  • @stankyrearend

    you can remove it

    you have the power stanky-son

  • $700 for a bouquet? wow.

by the way in your videos when you refer to "dollars", i assume you mean AUD, but do you mean USD? im not sure thanks:)

  • you are not supposed to see the dress its bad luck...lol...

  • Nothing of this sort. It's ridiculous to not seeing a dress to make a choice or ask for common consensus.

Everything is *god luck* on a wedding day.

  • Does the brides family pay for the wedding costs in Japan. Here in the USA the brides family pays for almost everything. I would think a Japanese wedding would be extremely expensive.

  • @reymiland

Sometimes they pay for it... sometimes they just contribute...

  • thats crazy, i dont think my gf would like that for when we get married.

  • Back in the day, I worked in a store selling design wear near Washington, DC. Those would be considered evening gowns if floor length and cocktail dresses only if they were knee length or above. I would have been steering most customers away from all that satin, lace and tulle. Much too youthful for my clientel, who were women in a postion to actually need to own several of those things. What a difference an ocean makes! No bride on Cape Cod would be caught dead in those gowns, too fussy.

  • @nokomarie1963

Yeah... it is like an overdose of Hello Kitty looking at some of them :-)

  • Yes. That peach number came as a bit of a shock. Made me think of Texan debutantes competing for the "Irish Colleen" back in the 80's and not in a good way.

On the bright side, your bride has lovely shoulders. I hope she does go ahead and choose a style that shows them to advantage.

  • Yea, thats definitely not what I think of a cocktail dress being. Those look more like prom dresses or ball gowns like you mentioned. Very Pretty though, I bet they cost a pretty penny as well.

  • @evaissues1

    Indeed :-)

  • Do men go to pick out the dress in the US?

  • Hell no.

  • Got a new car? lol

  • Again Ray, congratulations ^_^ I wish you both the best of a life and eternal happiness! ^_^

  • @Dragon22873

    Thanks :-)

  • You still see couples doing the traditional shinto wedding thing I hope?

  • @uglyengineer

Rarely.... usually the occasional older couple...

  • Shame. When I was there it wasn't that rare.

  • was that end?t your fiancé at the end of the video?

  • @pain303

    Yes :-)

  • she's beautiful...

but, isn't it bad luck to see her in her dress anytime before the wedding? or is it just on the wedding day?

  • Oh, btw, she's cute.

  • wow. my anti virus started scanning and what i said made no sense at all... lol
