@himypiedie You do not understand the beauty of Debussy, his is impressionist music. It can extend the boundaries of other limiting styles into real musical beauty.
wht is the level of this song? coz my teacher want me learn this song. i can chose moonlight(debussy) or Mendelssohn song without words, but i dont think mendelssohn is my way...
tee hee, I heard it when I was in 6th grade. And my older sis who is piano whiz had a Debussy (I pronounced it wrong foreverrrr, apparently it's Dey-buh-yoo-see......?) book.
Found this song. Three flats, then five flats. I was tryingggg to learn it. Very hard. I now understand the pains of piano for beginners. Very very well played!!!
I've been trying to play that... It's fantasticly difficult hehehe I can't stand it! Looks like my hand won't do what i tell it to... Any hints or sugestions?
can I just ask, in bar 6 how do you play the bass in the left hand, coz the F and G clash and it doesn't sound nice. I'm just thinking perhaps theres a mistake in my score or I'm playing it wrong. Can anyone help?
Btw, nice playing, it's rare to find pianists on youtube with good technique.
omg when i first strated this peice, i just followed the layout and the tempo, it took me months of expensive classes, and it was complete crap! i hated it and i thought it didnt resembel music!
-then-
i listen to this and im like..."sorry i doubted you, debussy!" XD
I have 2 recordings by A.B.Michelangeli of this piece, one audio and the other video. He does it on both, plus, on the video recording, he "adds" something at measure 20 and 43.Many other great pianist's careers should have been finished if you base it on altering compositions...imho
HAHAHA! I was playing A natural and B flat in the cross-over section ^_^ Until now, I wondered how the heck I was going to play it. Just goes to show my sight-reading skills...
No wonder I hadn't seen this video, you just recently posted it. I echo malkyc10. I too am studying this piece and this is a big help. I would never have thought to use the left thumb for the crossover part Ab & Bb.
@himypiedie I guess it's this one that has the crazy jumbled notes......

Ugh. I hate Debussy. The songs don't make sense at all. It sounds to me like a jumble of notes put together.

@himypiedie Have you heard 'Clair de Lune'?
Tedsta101 1 year ago
@himypiedie Lol if you say that about Debussy then don´t ever hear Silvestre Revueltas o r the contemporaries

Nice work. But, if I see right, there is a mistake at bar #63 - #64: left hand plays Ab-Cb-Gb instead of Ab-Cb-F.
That false note hurts my ears :)

Theres sometimes more staccato and some musical notes are not correct, but I like your version very much and you play very good. :)

the F and G is not a mistake, it's deliberately dissonant.
Give yourself some more confidence.
have fun playing the piece!

i don't think it's music but it's definitely fun when i try it. There are enormous amounts of details making it much harder than it seemed.
klavierfan 2 years ago
when u play it fast and childish, and just for the purpose of fun its pretty good :D
ragglefraggle09 2 years ago
In the score, the upper staff in measure 60 is empty. No notes should be played there.

You are right. I realized I've heard the "phantom" notes from Michelangeli's recording, my ears have prevailed over my eyes in this case :-)
theimprovisor 3 years ago
Michelangeli did that? In that case his career is finished. (I'll have to listen to his recording again...)

Overall you played it well, thanks.
