  • This sounds like an awesome idea, my son (born at 25 weeks gestation) was on the conventional ventilator for several months and suffers many consequences now. My only question is that the device putting the air into the baby looks much like a cpap machine, which causes much stress to the baby as well. The cpap machine had to be so tight on my baby's nose that it broke it, causing extra complications, and I'm sure very painful. With today's technology, why can't they do this another way?

  • How is your son these days?

He will be in my prayers.

    Can he walk and talk?

    How old is he?

    God bless you.

  • He is doing amazingly well, he just continues to struggle with his lungs. Actually, he was back in the ICU and on a ventilator last week due to lung issues, but is home now. He is 10 mo actual age and 6 mo corrected age, and on track developmentally, which defies all the docs expectations due to his prematurity and severe brain hemmoraging. We appreciate all thoughts and prayers, not just for us, but for all premature babies out there, this is a dreadful situation for any family. Thanks!

  • Does he have to use a pulse ox?

  • Not anymore...everytime he was in the hospital he was on one, when we left the NICU he used an A&B monitor at home, since the insurance wouldn't pay for a pulse ox at home. We just kinda had to guess when he was not sating well, which in my opinion is not something to guess about. They took his home oxegen and A&B monitor about three weeks ago. Now all we are left with is a variety of cannulas, tagaderm, and a neb machine, lol, not doing us much good when he gets ill.

  • I'm sorry to hear that.

I feel really bad for him.

    Poor thing.

Do they think he will live a regular life?

    I pray that he will.

    HE IS A FIGHTER.

  • He is amazing, thats one thing you learn if you spend much time in a children's hospital; they are amazingly resilant and tough. Doc said he most likely will suffer from a range of disabilities, including blindness, cerebral palsy, deaf, mental retardation, or, if we're lucky, just some small tic that most people wouldn't notice. However, even as young as he is, they are amazed at his progress, and I am hopeful. Now his vision, hearing, development, and muscle tone is perfect. We are blessed.

  • Well, I'll keep praying through this.

    May God bless him.

    I'm blind.

I also have other problems such as severe asthma, byladeral cleft pallette, my brain comes down to my nose, I can only breathe through one side of my nose, I can't smell, or taste, I don't have the cillia in my nose that protects me from illness, and I also have bad sinus infections.

  • I hate to hear about your health problems. Why do you have all these different issues? I will pray for you as well! How old are you? Have you always had these issues?

Yes I was born with cranial facial anomolies.

The Doctors did work on my mouth, but they cant fix the side thatI can't breathe on, because, my brain comes down to far.

I may have to have a trach if things get too far.

I think I have Sleep Apnea.

See, I wake up to these loud snorts at night, and for the next few secondsI'm gasping for air.

Treatment 4 that is a machine where u breathe through ur nose. I'm usually stopped up. If I do have Sleep apnea, I'll most likely need a trach.
