Yea I agree the earlier ones are quite bizarre, but they are also more down to earth. My fav lines in this song are: "经过老伯的家 篮框变得好高 爬过的那棵树 又何时变得渺小." I only recently realised what he meant by this, despite having listened to this song well in the thousands of times.

@AzureSteel can you enlighten me on the line 经过老伯的家 变得好高 爬过的那棵树 又何时变得渺小, im pretty confused by it cause they seem to mean opposite things. the second part i will interpret as he's grown up and hence the tree appears shorter than it seems before, but why would the 篮框 become higher?

What he is saying is that, after failing to get into a good school, all his past achievements (e.g. climbing the tree) has become insignificant, whereas his future goals seems to be even further out of reach (e.g. being able to slam dunk). Gah, I think I relate most to this line, that's why I like it. All in all, Jay is amazing. Hope that helps!

The whole sentence describes the situation that people stuck in the middle of their life with confusions. Just my opinion, ur.. my english is not so good, hope you can understand

@uunreal it's probably a metaphor, the 籃框 means the basket for basketball playing, and in lyrics it's a symbolism of a grand/ higher goal for him, just like get into the college, but he couldn't, cause he failed the entrance exam, so it seemed like a lot higher than ever. And the trees he once climbed, means his innocent childhood from this moment (he failed the exam) on has gone, became farer and farer. Cause he failed, the only option left for him would be get into the society and get a job.
