This is one of the best kaisoes of all time. It has been embedded within my conscious memory since childhood.
And let me stress that this is KAISO, music with African roots, lyrically opposed to European "progress". I would not call it "calypso", which is an overused European word.
i got your email. thank for the response bro.. u can try sending it to me on linnell_doolan@live.com.. or add me on msn and do a file transfer.. thanks bro. your cooperation is greatly appreciated..
dude.... i have been searching like forever for thios song... i am trying to download it from here but only getting 22%... please i need to have it, is there some way or somewhere i can get the full song.???
Prophetic.... absolutely astounding. When I saw the decline in our education, infrastructure, social moors and morals across the World not just in Trinidad I play this calypso by king Austin. Trinidadians and Tobagonions cry literally when they hear this calypso. It speaks to their inner being. Big men are moved to tears because it is both lyrically and musically honest and true and speaks to every nerve and sinew in ones body. My Mum and late Dad count this among their favourite. I concur.
Just wonderful. I start everyday with this video and song. How appropo this song is for today, after 30 years. Brings tears to my eyes. I still hope for a better future for our youth. Thanks.
Great song. Such important content. The scary thing is this was since 1980. 30 years ago! And there were so many problems then! He''ll need 10 more verses if he had to since that song today. Problems multiplied 10fold.
I like the vid. Very importanet song and images. Thanks
Powerful lyrical composition that touches on the issues of our global problems, and 30 years old at that, shows that we are "progressing" steadily on the path mentioned in the song. The price of progress is truly too high!. A true artist and patriot!!
"I have already seen This world has become divided Between race, colour, creed and class And some of the things The scriptures predict Truthfully come to pass Soil that wouldn't bear Children making children To be part of this growing mass And I ask If this is progress How long will it last?".........VERY powerful words!!!!!!!!!!
One of my most favourite calypso song ever. Nowadays you don't hear compositions this artistic, this poetic, or even with such an emotional melody.
A classic that the world should listen closely to. This is one of those arts of Trinidad and Tobago that makes us proud, proud of our talents, at least talents from the past.
You can't beat this calypso. There isn't a simpler commentary in the rise and fall of civilizations than this tune. Unsustainable development coinciding with moral will inevitably lead to a nation''s demise.
Hits the the nail right on the head . States the problems of the world due to environmental disasters in a musical melody The song is catchy, and music appropriate.
Beautiful.. I think u captured this perfectly... MY GOD...I get chills every time I listen to this song... its older than I am (23)... but so relevant today.
U aptly said it... calypso genius at its best... Keep doing great stuff!
@maximilianforte can anyone get the song "come leh we go to Tobaol" not sure if it is the correct name of the song but I think it was sung by Singing Francine
The video reminds us how serious the work is ahead of us...and how our prophets continue their work in song, vision and of course, action...We'll always remember. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your comment. Of course all the credit lies with the source of the inspiration, King Austin himself. Trinidad has been blessed with a wealth of calypso genius.
Globalisation: never a good thing for smaller/poorer nations. . .

And, his name is King Austin, not King Lewis.

I remember being so proud, when he sung this. He was my neighbor and we never had a clue he sung Calypso before this.
