  • wow nice

  • TA KA DOM!!!

  • TA KA DOM!!!

  • damn

  • I can predict all kinds of music, I mean what they're gonna do next but Indian music sometimes, especially this one is unpredictable

  • still amazing.........

  • I prefere the 70's version, but this is not bad, too

  • QUE LINDO

  • Ridiculous, sustained brilliance. The timing is mind boggling!!

  • I miss the Shakti guitar too

  • can someone post me th tabs for this.....lol....i lost my mind after th video

  • I wish john still was playing his Shakti guitar.

One of my favorite Shati songs. I also love Kriti...... Does anyony have a video of Kriti to post?

  • talk about spittin rhymes

  • This is a remarkable performance.

  • lovely...thnx for the post

    Sourabh

  • I was there that night...bloody magic!!!

  • What an Handful of Beuty!! Love this!

  • I liked the shakti guitar better, but still great. The sound was much more 'indianish', with carved fretboard and all. Almost something between a veena and a sitar. This gibson sounds somewhat 'flat' to me, although JML's hands give it an incredible dynamic.

  • Didn't he get the Gibson scalloped as well?

  • Muchas Gracias!

  • thank you very much I lOve Shakti!!!!!

  • indian drummers are so gooooooooooodddd

  • a handfull of beauty !!!"

  • It's the rhythmic structure of the composition, called konnakol(sp)? Check out the utube clip 'gateway to rhythm' and all will be clear.

  • I saw this tour and was speechless for about 30 minutes afterward. The best musical performance I have ever seen.

  • I would like to see someone try and write the tabs for this.

  • anni fa ho potuto ascoltare un concerto di Shakti a Torino sono rimasto inestasi ed anche sotto la pioggia il mio cuore era in alto........... grazie

  • ewet gerçekten sanat udur işte imir tepecik weysel

  • This is no place for talk about who plays the fastest, one should consider the notes that are played. Are they valid?Sorry to say but Johns notes say a lot more, they have more history and depth.Oh,John has a clean sound in this clip btw, have a good one :)

  • Distortion? or not, he is the guitarist's guitarist of the Jazz fusion era, yes acoustic Shakti was more aggressive, give the geezer a break, I don't think he's slowed down any in the last 30 years.

  • I dislike John's distorted sound. His acoustic sounded much better from early days. Maybe he needs distortion to get quick response from his neck for speed. Shrinivas on the other hand plays at lightening speed without help of any such effects.

  • they are definitly playing at the same up-tempo-speed. No difference, go wash your ears. but I also found that the acoustic sound of John was cleaner and had more colours.

  • who Jimmy Page?

  • your kidding right?

  • I don't know no Jimmy Page...

...Wait, was he that old geezer who covered some Led Zeppelin songs just a week ago in front of 20,000 people in London?

I heard his performance was a complete failure...

  • oh yes, thats the man!

  • Jimmy Page? The guy who paid McLaughlin to help him get better at guitar in the 60's and also "borrowed the double-neck idea from. Yea, him.

  • "borrowed"...right...more like STOLE the idea...or maybe even RIPPED OFF the idea...

  • Do not mention such players as Jimmy Page together with Johnny Mc, who plays in a higher class ! By the way, there are many earlier double-neck-players for example Bill Haley´s guitarist, don´t know his name.

  • zakir hussain looks a lot like Jimmy Page

  • Incredible! I've got exactly the same feeling!!!

  • manmanman I have this on vinyl, thanks to my mom! I love this, Shakti is breathtaking!

  • i have this on vinyl and man what a great composition. also worth listening is 'making music' by john and zakhir.

  • yeah man making music is such a nice album.

  • Acoustic is better here. More attack.

  • çok ayna

  • amazingly beautiful

  • One of the best rhythm sections I've ever seen. Zakir and Selvaganesh are animals. John is god too.

  • John should bring back his Acoustic guitar and L. Shanakar. When Shankar was there this band rocked

  • great band !! -john is agreat musician !

    :-)

..you wonna see/hear something realy innovative - how to improvise classical music ?!

look for video : "bach sarabande jazz guitar"

  • Thank you so much for this amazing find!!!!!!

  • "Whats up with the guitar sounding funky?" That looks like an electric Mandolin.

Not all electro Mandolins have eight strings. Epiphone has one that is four strings. For you that don't know, the Mandolin is tuned like a Violin.

  • U.Srinivas always outsmarts him..with such a small instrument. They are Genius, no doubt. Shankar Mahadevan is a misfit, imo.

  • The synth tones are generated from the guitar and developed using a laptop he keeps to the side. I tried to watch him more closely at the show but kept getting distracted by the other 3 geniuses onstage.

  • awsomeeeeeeee

  • JUNATAKADA

  • Whats up with the guitar sounding funky?

  • synth tone prolly

  • Shakti is the ultimate east meets west group. Everyone in Shakti is outstanding! I love Zakir and Mclaughlin especially. I remember the original Shakti, and would love to see these guys in concert.

  • Zakir Hussain,Tabla solo...Father Zakir aka "the God"

  • that is the best intro ever haha crazy tabla guys

  • Awesome!!

  • I guess Mclaughlin doesn't have the fingers to manage his acoustic anymore. This sounds so weak compared to the original.

  • I miss John´s acoustic Shakti guitars

  • Re janderson2000. The Shakti acoustic was destroyed . Problem with McLaughlin's tone is that he doesn't use amps anymore and plugs into the PA , and the tone doesn't cut thru.

  • awesome

  • omg incredible !!!! i love it

  • right! there is another video of this wonderful piece. It is from Montreux Concerts SHAKTI 1977!

  • Yea Yea I figured that out after I saw the video

  • I like in the beginning when he was yelling nonsense

  • You retard. That's the rhythmnic composition.

  • hehe lmao

  • It's called konnakol if I'm not mistaken.

  • I remember when this album came out. I've never seen them before! What a joy!

  • Wonderful! Thanks. :)
