  • sarkozy n'aime pas les bohemiennes roumaines....

  • you spelled gypsy wrong

  • there is something about her which I don't like...

  • I would bang her

  • I like what she does when she says 'C'est écrit dans les lignes de ma main' 0:55 to 1:03

  • the props are kind of non-existent...i wonder what was stage director thinking

    +is he wearing jeans?

  • @Akonkagva velvet pants

  • Esmeralda is very beatiful!!!!!!!!!

  • When I was a child in Provence, Bare foot in the hills I danced once.

But the gypsy road is so long, the roads so long.

Everyday I see a new chance, maybe some road will lead from France.

I will follow till I come home, Till I come home.

Andalusia's streams, run through my blood, run through my daydreams.

Andalusia's sky, when it calls me, I feel my heart fly.

  • I love their liitle game at the beggining.:)

  • We must remember that most of the main cast are not actors, they are singers. They are AMAZING singers but they are not actors

  • Stop talking about the translation...make a better one if you can!!!!

  • italian esmeralda is more better than french....the french esmeralda looks too static...

  • Love this song --- hate the translation. "Nul le sais le pays d'ou je viens"... it's not "No one knows my land" it's "No one knows where I'm from". Or "J'ai fait de Paris, mon pays".. It's not "Paris is my home" it's "I made Paris my country" --or am I wrong?

  • @lindsay4410 You are right ! Are you french or english ? You made a great translation !

    I'm French :)

  • @SoHappySoHippie American. I've never seen this show but I do like a lot of the music from it. :) I love this song and I hate when people get translations wrong.

  • @lindsay4410 You're right ! the translation is full of mistakes and all the poetry of the original is lost!

  • the Russian Esmeralda is better

  • I get the impression that there is a translation failure at 2.15-2.20. The lyrics say: "Where will I be tomorrow", but she sings "Qui peut dire qui j´amarait demain", and the correct translation would be "Who could say who I will love tomorrow".

But nevertheless it´s a wonderful performance and I really like Notre Dame de Paris.

  • @TheSacredCapitalism It's not the only one! :)

In the last verse the lyrics say the same thing, but she sings "Qui peut dire ce que sera demain...", which means "Who can say what will happen tomorrow...".

  • IVE BEEN TO ANDALUSIA.BEAUTIFUL.

  • @ihartrodatkins I think is very hard to sing and dance in the same time. Awesome performance!

  • I love the part when Clopin is "reading" from Esmeralda's hand ;)

  • honestly.. esmeralda was a teenager, she was innocent... the way she moves and the way she flirt with phoebus looks more slutty than innocent as esmeralda's character was! no offending, just saying my opinion.

  • The part that luck mervil move the crowd by applause.. I wish I could be in that atmosphere

  • Why did they translate "bohemienne" as gypsy and not just bohemian? "Gitane" means gypsy, and has the same negative connotations; bohemian is a prettier, more mysterious, and also less derogatory word for the same thing.

  • I wish they wouldn't translate "bohemienne" as gypsy. "Gitane" means gypsy, and has the same negative connotations, while "bohemienne" is better translated as "bohemian", meaning from many different European sources, and is the same kind of mysterious, attractive word.

  • Ack, the English subtitles aren't quite correct....

"Where will I be tomorrow" should be "Who can say where I will be tomorrow"

and the second time the titles say "Where will I be tomorrow" it's actually "Who can say who I will love tomorrow"

and the third time, it's actually "Who can say what will be tomorrow" <3

  • @700krankaf This is the good translation :) But I'm not sure if the english people know the sens of ' who can say' . 'Who can say' means 'Who knows' :)

  • @glittersmile True, but consider Clopin. The guy is almost breakdancing in "Sans Papiers" and yet his voice never slows for a second

  • even in french, these songs are far too repetitive for my tastes.

  • hèh_Î_fËêl_sõ_l0Ñëly_tÖÐÄý

  • It must be very difficult to cast a convincing Esmeralda. Not only does she have to be beautiful and a good singer/dancer, she has to pull off a certain atmosphere that's delicate and naive, but rustic and Bohemien; extremely chaste, but also very sensual.

I agree that Helene Segara is too mature, but I still think she does amazingly in this play! Young characters are nearly always played by older actors.

  • @Amy3422 The first french Esmeralda was singer Noa.

She was amazing too ! you should check her :)

  • @MooonWilloW Thanks! Will do.

  • She is BEAUTIFUL. Beautiful and great singer, but... she is not Esmeralda. Esmeralda shoud have something like sixteen years... here is too much adult :/

  • "andalusia" is not correct, is "andalucia". But the song is awesome, and very good subtitles =)

  • Why is Les mis popular and not this?????????????

  • She's so beautiful! I wish I looked like her..

  • @lunalovegood34 i'm sure they're people who love you for who you are...

  • superbe chanson, superbe comédie musicale ♥

  • Wait, that guy in the background! Is it Clopin or Gringoire?

  • @thulesse Clopin-Luck Mervil..

  • @thulesse Clopin, il est Clopin.

  • @otropepino then...don't comment twice on it.

  • i do not like this song

  • 2:18

That's "Who can tell who I'll LOVE tomorrow ?" not be :)

I'm French, hope my sentence is correct x)

  • Noa is better...

  • @SoulessDawn Well, maybe, but she wasn't there, and Helene sings very well too :)

  • @mystorypotc3 Of course, I agree ^^

  • i can't seem to truly appreciate this version. it's all great, but for some reason i like the italian version better

  • Helene Segara is fantastic! I love her voice!!!

  • simply fantastic ... big heart ...!!!!

got me excited much ... .

  • Amazing play. We have to watch it as part of our grade 12 french immersion curriculum and it's amazing!!

  • i'm watching this in french class and i love it so far. the songs are great, i love almost all of the ones i heard

  • Great song!:)

  • The only thing I don't like about this performance is that I wish she did more dancing. It's kind of ironic because the male characters are always talking about how she's a dancer, and Esmeralda almost never dances except for flipping her dress around.

  • @ihartrodatkins I agree with you. That's what occured to me when I was watching "Belle", I thought it would have been more dramatic and passionate if she danced there while the men are singing.

  • @eyrena you're both right, but don't you think that's a little hard to sing and dance at the same time? With "Belle" I agreee. :)

  • @ihartrodatkins Yeah I thought so too! The Spanish version is more apt in that aspect, I think, though nothing can quite beat the original. :)

  • @dianoumalibou Okay, I know I don't speak French, I'm sorry about that. However, I DO have access to Google Translate, and I'd like to say that:

    A) I do actually sing and dance pretty well, thank you very much, and

    B) SHE IS NOT REALLY DANCING, she is pretty much just walking around most of the time (except right away at the beginning, but that's basically it.) Heck, Gringoire does more dancing than her, in "La fete de fous"!

  • @dianoumalibou I'm not onstage right now mainly because I'm only seventeen years old and live in the middle of South Dakota, USA (that's basically in the middle of nowhere). Oh, and thanks for ruining the last day of my junior year of high school.

And also - why do you think my comment has 41 thumbs-ups?

Eh. I'm going to ignore you now.

  • @ihartrodatkins

    dumb bitch

  • @dianoumalibou Eeeeeeh, calme toi !

  • @ihartrodatkins But in the story, she's dancing xD (You are true... I've never realized that here, she never dance xD)

  • @ihartrodatkins lola ponce danced more ! yay

  • @ihartrodatkins it's not that easy to both sing as well as she does and dance at the same time, maybe that's why she doesn't dance much

  • @Sekhmet91 she's a performer, it may be challenging but a little more action is necessary..

  • @Boutiqueeny True also theres no worry of not being able to hear her voice whilst doing it as she has the ginormous mic. I could understand if her voice wouldn't carry if she were dancing but with a mic that doesnt really come into it. I prefer the Italian Esme to Helene simply because she does dance a lot more

  • @Sekhmet91 ya she's focused more on her voice then her characterization of Esmerelda

  • @ihartrodatkins That's what I though too :) I love pretty much everything about this musical except for the actress playing Esmeralda :) Esmeralda should be extremely full of life, at least until her capture, but this actress is just... emo :(

  • @beqaxitiri well, I wouldn't go so far as to say "emo", more like aware of her status. Other Esmeraldas weren't really concerned with the fact that gypsies were looked down on in society, that she was 'abnormal' in any way other than her beauty. This Esmeralda seems to simply know that she's not normal in Parisian society and takes a certain pride in it - not showy or fanatical. But you are right, she does need a bit more life in her performance.

  • @beqaxitiri Helene Segara is a singer not an actress ;d

  • Phoebus is cute!

    Weird Esmerellda but beautiful voice!

  • Excellent...

" Bohémienne nul le sait le pays d'où je viens...et où mes voyages s'arrêteront "...

  • What the pretty voice

  • This is really amazing!!! I tried listen to English version (by Tina Arena), this version still the best ! :)

  • Is Fiori wearing his ring? hahaha.

  • This is one of my favourite songs in the musical. Her voice sounds so real and natural, she doesn't even have to try hard.

  • I love how at 1:09 onwards, Helene looks like she's having a great time. :)

  • she is a good singer, but the Italian Esmeralda is more beautiful... and also Phoebus! But the song is very nice...

  • C'est une belle chanson

  • such a sweet, sad voice

  • gebt busere

  • In the hills of Andalusia is the only properly translated line :/ I love this song though. <3

  • she's so beautiful.

  • The best version is Italian French too .. esmeralda but the sexy is a girl would be more happy and carefree as the Italian one ... however it is very good at singing the French interpreter ...

  • Esmeralda is pretty but Phoebus he is ugly

    im sorry !!!

  • @musicalsterinspe yes u r vright but what a VOICE

  • I love this song!!!!!!! I like it in English, It sounds prettiest in French! French is such a beautiful language!!!!!!

  • This is by far the best version. Italian is good but the French version is by the best!. She has a grat voice. my fave song from the show!

  • goood

  • This is my favorite song in Notre Dame De Paris :)))

  • SUPERB!

  • Italian version, for me, is the BEST version! Lola Poce is so similar to the Esmeralda of the book, so youg! Helena is so beautifull and has a great voice, but is... SHE IS AN ADULT!! VIVA LA VERSIONE ITALIANA!! :D

  • I'm sorry but the traslation is not very good :(

  • I think French is the most appropriate language to tell and sing this story because the author, Victor Hugo, was French...

    kapitel 'Der kleine Schuh'

    Gudula war esmeraldas mutter.

    ^ ^

  • HELENA SEGARA one of the most beautiful women ı've ever seen.

  • @sinangill Her name sounds beautiful on it's own.

  • @sinangill You're right. She has something what no woman has.

  • @sinangill Have you seen her without makeup ???

  • Comment removed

  • @sinangill She was my neighbor younger (France).

  • this is the most epic song almost ever!

  • beautiful absolutely mesmerizing

    extraordinaire :)

  • Gorgeous song, amazing performances! Esmeralda rocks!

  • The french word for "gypsy" is "bohémienne" ;)

  • french is prbly the sexiest language in the world, plus french woman are so hot! French musicals are the best. Love Notre Dame and i've been there twice :)

  • could someone please tell me the french word for Gypsy ? my french is terrible.

  • gitan or bohémien for a man and gitane or bohémienne for a woman (i'm french!)

  • merci! :)

  • oh pardonnez-moi didn't see your reponse

  • bohemienne

  • in franch gipsy = bohémien.. :)

  • Comment removed

  • Have you heard the spanish version of this musical? I think Tahis Ciurana (Esmeralda) has a very sweet voice, you just have to look for her version of Ma maison c'est ta maison (Mi casa es tu casa). Then you'll see why I love her so much!

  • Stunning song

  • ay si q si io soy gitana!!!!!

    xD

  • Best version. period. no other competes. best singers, actors, most suitable language for the song and story. there are other versions that are good (italian, spanish) but this one is GREAT. Its the original. It tops all.

  • Yes.

  • But I think Gipsy is naturally sexy and charming...the girl is very suitable!

  • I think this Esmeralda is charming and wonderful..(:

  • have you notice the public begining to applause in rythm when she starts to "danse" ?

    great song !

  • es demasiado buena 4:25

  • esmeralda should be pure and unaware of her sex-appeal...this girl, although beautiful and with a great and powerful voice, in my opinion is too lascivious. but still, it's just my opinion...

  • She's very beautiful and has great voice, but she's just not Emeralda...

Still LOVE the song tough :)

  • If I could learn a second language, I think I'd choose French. It sounds so beautiful.

  • it's easier to lurn then german (i'm dutch) so if you got the touch it will go easy ;p
