When Alan retired from the Oregon Symphony he sold his Edwards Bass Trombone for $3200. To my grandpa who got it for me as a graduation gift. So as of this post it's sitting behind me in my room ;)
Great playing! Would love to know when they'll be in concert again as we're not far away and could easily get to Astoria! Great bit of playing by Alan! What a wonderful talent. Love the easy high to low transitions he's able to make on that bass trombone!
I'm so very glad I could see this here! I don't get out of the house much so this was a real treat as our daughter used to play with the band and my uncles used to sing this song at the family reunions every year! TY
Wonderful trombone playing. Boatswain pipe needs a lot of work. If you are going to pipe him aboard, do it right. Again, the bass bone playing was excellent.
Wow, this is very unique and impressive. It makes me think of the tenor trombone song Bluebells of Scotland. I believe that in difficulty, this piece would match or surpass it. Very well done!
good job, but needs a lot of work.

Seriously? The entire band played marvelously. Show the world you can play the bass trombone better than Ala Pierce before you criticize.

The secret to Alan's playing is in his eyebrows! Watch them when he plays the high notes in the cadenzas!
