my local guitar store still has a new(never sold) Samick artists series from the 1990s with a solid top with mahogany back and sides, with rosewood fingerboard and bridge and he is selling it for less than a Fender T Bucket with a laminated top that is made in China. They both side pretty good but since you have a Samick, do you think I should go for the Samick too. My original impression is with the Fender I am paying more for the name on the top. Please let me know.
@paulgaudinjrBCN not real sure about Samick in the 90's. If it were Greg Bennett, I would def. go with it. I'd go for the one that has the best sound for what you like. It's def. not always about name b/c you will pay for that. Go for quality and looks over a name anyday
@ghostly2923 For that price I would go with something by Fender in the strat style. You may can luck up and find a real Fender strat on Ebay used for around 200. If not, go with a new Squier by Fender strat. Not the best but a good beginner
Does that guitar have a hole to plug a chord into an amp? I have a similar Samick guitar with the same fishman electronics, but I don't know how to make it "electric". I can tune it (kind of since it's real sensitive), but I don't know how to use the volume, treble, bass, etc. on the fishman stuff. Without plugging it into an amp, I don't notice any change when I move the levers around. I'm new to acoustic electrics and don't understand them. Can you anwer these questions? Thanks!
@elfhermie It does have a plug in for a standard 1/4" instrument cable. You can plug it into any acoustic amp or PA system and then use the onboard pickup controls to adjust sound
@elfhermie hey man those levers you said are called pre amp. of course they wont work if you dont have an amp. thats why we call it pre amp. well it will not change the sound of your guitar unplugged. but it will define the sound of your guitar when you plug it in. i suggest that you plug it in then play it then try moving the levers and notice how the sound differs when you move it. then you could put it in the setting that suits your playing style. there you go hope this helps
thanks. it retailed for 800, store had it listed at close to 600, i got it marked down as a display for 300. it was a great deal too good to pass up. i love it!!
