I'm hoping somebody can help me. I remember back in the early 90s there was a Red Sox vs. White Socks commercial on WGN, had a rock jingle with lyrics like 'you want baseball action and you're looking for the best, well south tag team is winning in the west', and that was always so cool, but does anybody have that commercial up on here?
Frank Thomas. a TRUE super hero. one of the greatest hitters in ALL of MLB history. in fact in his first 7 years of his career, his stats rank with the Baseball GODS i.e. Babe Ruth, Ted Williams. Go Sox!
Yeh, that was a tragic day for all of us Ventura fans, and so out of character for Robin. Ironically, my wife's favorite player is Nolan Ryan. And even more interesting, purely by chance!!!, our wedding aniversary is Saturday August 4th 2000. It was on August 4th 1993, the day Ventura made the only mistake of his baseball career!
I was but a little kid then, but all I could think is "wow, I never want to get on the wrong side of Nolan". I've been Following Baseball since I was 2, and it's pretty sad that most of my favorite players are past the prime, Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens, Ryan Sandberg, Tom Glavine, Juan Gonzalez.... the list really goes on.
Most of those names: Maddux, (Sandberg -particularly!), Glavine, Gonzalez... They were great players, and just all around good guys. Remember when Sandberg, resigned because he was not playing at the level he thought he should be at his pay rate. Could you imagine anyone doing that in today?
Unfortunately, Clemens got caught up with the steroid era. , and he was somewhat of a hot head (roid rage?). Remember when he through the bat at Mike Piazza? LOL.
HAHAHAhehehe hohohahhahah The Dumbest manager in the 40 years that i have been watching. I once saw him bring in his best reliever to intentionally walk someone and then he pulled the guy. It did not work out.
At least the "Big Hurt" won a world championship in his last year with the South Siders after 14 years of failures. But the White Sox, like the Red Sox finally won after 88 years of failures, too.

The 2005 world series was more magical than the 2004 one. The whitesox did it with no national attention and only lost one game throughout.
