  • I totally agree with you and I've seen this reseach and advice everwhere now.. but question: saturated fats in meat and animal products are long-chain fatty acids right? so do they not store as fat on your body especially near your heart when consumed because of the wya the body breaks them down as opposed to the medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil [amazing stuff!!!!] ?? I am just trying to research what is the healthiest diet & I do get this saturated fat and meat thing but wanna make sure

  • Great Q. No that's not how the body works. Liapase (enzymes) will break down the fat and the correct fuel for your heart and brain is fat! If it runs on CHO's then this will lead to CHD or CVD's. Check out Dr Tom Cowans work. You're so right on MCT's like coconut oil and Dr B. Fife's work on Palm oil. Superb stuff. More homework to be done to find my truths. Enjoy, sending love

  • Another for ya ;o) youtube.com/watch?v=ieN3cwkDLhM

  • Thank you PhilDY6. I'll check it out

  • Hi PhilDY6. Not a good oil to use. Why? Because it's not stable in light and heat. Better oil/fat would be saturated fats like Coconut oil (MCT), Red Palm oil, Goose, Duck, Lard, Ghee, butter (all organic of course!)

Bacon also contains Nitrates, some research says that's okay, some not!

If you did insist in using Olive oil add turmeric to it. This allegedly protects it.

    Have fun, MM

  • @magnusmulliner This is good youtube.com/watch?v=6HjW68hE_DM

  • I'll check it out, thank you, Good night, MM

  • Wouldn't accept it with the three w's :o( so posted it without.

  • I figured that out a days back! Thanks for the reminder. It's all good.

  • i hope u dont mind me sharing infos ive learnt!! pufas also cause insuline resistance as they block glucose from getting to the cells so insuline is up all the time!! i was shocked too at the beging but dr.Ray Peat puts out great scientific evidence!! all the best!!

  • I'm delighted that you shared your information mokugin81. I'm always surprised when people get 'angry' at themselves and project that onto me, but don't share any other research or knowledge. They just project their BS and ignorance. I'm with you on Mr Peat's stuff. I don't necessarily believe everything I see, hear, feel, etc. Apply it and see how it works best for you. Sending love

    MM

  • when those fats got called " essential" in science they did not know about vitamin b6 jet.. did u know that? on the other hand saturated fats do speed up metabolism, they r prothyroid, are stable and lower inflammation.. udo erasmus has got a big finantial benefits behind his products.. plus 60/70 years ago people didnt have those oils available!!

  • Oh YES i used for a long time his oils.. hemp,flax,nuts,seeds,etc.. I regret Doing it!! ive learnt that pufas are the main fats we tend to store..they are antithyroid, they destroy the immune system, the lower metabolism and body temp, they go rancid, they r great oils for a salmon or tuna who lives in cold water not for humans who are warm blooded.

  • according to dr.Ray Peat Saturated fats are The Only fats we must eat.. butter, coconut oil, cream, cheese, cacao butter and mct oil..

  • Dear mokugin81. Thank you for your message. I don't think they are the only ones that are good for us. Are you familiar with Dr Udo's work and passion? He still require Mono, some Poly and of course Omega 3, 6 and 9. It's all about balance.

    Sending love

  • Saturated fat caused my LDL to increase enough that my doctor highlighted it on my lab report. My father had a double bypass at age 60. He had a high fat diet. Personally, I feel better on a lower fat diet. About 75-80% carbs ( mostly from vegetables and fruit with sweet potatoes for starch) and modest amounts of animal foods. This is similar to the traditional diet of Okinawa.

  • Dear auggiedoggy, You may well share your truth. My message was simply that Saturated fat is NOT bad for us Humans. The amount would depend on your Metabolic Type. You have over 60 trillion cells in your body and they all have a shopping list.

If any fat contains toxins that's not good.

If you and I were ascendants from the Inuit tribe, we would be consuming up to 90% + fat and protein, without any health challenges.

If you live closer to the equator eating more fruit and veg is better.

    Enjoy

  • @magnusmulliner what about monounsaturated fats in nuts/avocados?...lol...and I thought you said there has been an increase in "poofters"..rofl.

  • Dear malechauvinistxy, It is my understanding that anything Mother Nature produces is much better for us, than that which man makes! Sure you may have intolerances with some of Her foods. Since the 1st WW, there has been a huge increase in the amount of PUFA's we've been consuming and there has been a drop in the amount of Saturated fats. It's all about balance and ensuring that if an oil is processed, it's done 'naturally'. Not high temps, light or chemicals used. Happy days, MALM

  • @magnusmulliner Is poached egg ok?

  • Perfect malechauvinistxy, but only your body knows. Practice the pulse test and see if that's true. Alternatively there's a blood test you can have done that will tell you if you're intolerant to eggs. If you send me an email I'll forward on more details. Create a great One, with Qi, MALM

  • @magnusmulliner : I live in Canada and my (recent) ancestors came from Ireland and Wales (father's side) and France (mother's side). Regardless of my ancestry, whenever I increase my intake of animal foods and saturated fat, up goes my cholesterol. Its automatic. I do have another reason for adopting a more plant-based diet - elevated uric acid levels and my serum ferritin has always been on the high side of normal.

  • Hi auggiedoggy, thanks you for your message. That is correct your cholesterol may well go up! That's not your real challenge. They'll always be a reason why your so called 'normal' levels rise. It's likely to be something to do with your ENVIRONMENT. How you think, breathe, drink, eat, sleep and undertake creative movement daily are also huge factors. It's all about BALANCE. Seek to understand what the root cause is/are.

Without analysis I'd be guessing. I don't guess I measure.

    Have fun

  • @magnusmulliner : Cheers!

  • @auggiedoggy This is where it comes down to personal experience, cause I'm the opposite. Eating 75-80% carbs in the form of fruit and veg makes me take naps constantly, and I didn't always feel full. Where eating a lot of fat feels like it's been the missing link energy wise. Particularly lots of animal fat and coconut oil. Though fats from nuts makes me sleepy. It still love fruit, but do better with a lower percentage.

  • CHD risk is directly related to HDL/LDL ratio. look it up

  • It is my understanding too that Homocysteine plays a huge role in determining the likelihood of creating CHD and there are two different types of LDL's. One type of LDL is 'bad' and is directly related to the hardening of arteries (atherosclerosis). Dr Lustig MD talks about this on one of Underground Wellness' recordings. With love and Chi MM

  • @magnusmulliner there are many factors related to CHD. You are right in that there is a 'bad' type of LDL, which is called SD-LDL (small-dense LDL).

    Let me explain the process:

A higher LDL consumption in the diet raises central adiposity (major risk factor for CHD).

LDL's and inflammatory hormones such as IL-6 and TNF-alpha are released from this type of fat and go straight to your liver via the portal vein.

  • That's great thank you for reminding me. Q, does not the liver produce the cholesterol (I know other organs can but this is the main one), therefore as such it's not the foods that contain LDL, but the foods that contain a dearth of essential, important macro/micro nutrients. Bottom line we are required to give our 50-100 trillions cells the 'shopping list' they require, not SAD/BAD CRAP products! Sending love MM

  • LOL.

Saturated or LDL fats increase inflammation through changes in hormone levels.

This inflammation contributes to ALL MAJOR NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASES.

Do your research before spouting rubbish.

  • Saturated fat doesn't lead to CVD? what about its effects on increasing central obesity, which is one of the leading causes of CVD? How on earth would increasing fat intake and therefore increasing visceral adiposity not be causitive to CVD?

  • @spangy09 glad to see someone out there has an educated opinion!

  • Many Hollyroseann. As we know the research is out there for those that 'choose' to do more homework and not buy into the BS promulgated by the media, poorly informed Dr's, etc. Gary Taubes' book "Good calories, Bad calories" and Colpo's "The Cholesterol Con" made interesting reading. Enjoy, with love and Qi MM

  • Hi spangy09, are you OPEN to doing some more 'homework' and finding out if what you stated is a TRUTH? When you look at the research since the 1st WW, we have increased our PUFA's and our consumption of Saturated fats has plummeted. What does lead to central obesity is the consumption of a class A drug - sugar (fructose). Check out Dr Robert Lustig on youtube. Sending love MM

  • @magnusmulliner

central obesity is caused by a high LDL to HDL ratio. High fructose in the liver causes this ratio to further tip in the favour of high LDL/ low HDL which is still not conclusively proven in scientific literature.

Scientific journals like the one you have mentioned (whose article you have grossly misinterpreted) is where we are getting our info. I highly doubt a 'doctor' on you-tube compares to information from such journals.

  • @magnusmulliner I agree. Also, our increase of "low fat" foods has probably contributed to obesity. After all, most low and "no fat" products substitute with sugar.

  • Dear amberview30, I believe you are correct. Our bodies are not designed to process man made take out anything, including reducing fat levels, etc. So once we start playing God with our foods and turning them into PRODUCTS, "Houston we have a problem!" The substitutes are carcinogenic, like Aspartame, Splenda, etc. These actually make you gain weight because they are toxic to our bodies. Sugar is a CLASS A drug. Once you quit and join 1% of the population it will take 5 years to remove cravings.

  • Awesome video! Make us laugh and learn at the same time! Great! Coconut oil on the skin?! I must try that! Thanks!

  • Thank you for sharing Amanda. It's all good! I do my best. The great news is... I get to laugh at myself too! You know I keep telling myself that being serious kills passion... and people, so I'd like to think that I'm not too serious... all the time.

I think many people are lost about understanding fats and their importance in our diet. They truly are great for hormones, storage, protection, etc. BUT optimal fat for you/the individual. Sending love
