You know how people kind of act as if Barry and Robin really only have great voices? Yet we'll never hear the beauty of the Bee Gees again because the depth and harmony of Maurice is gone. Bless them all and each ones talent.

Honeybabe, que lindos videos preparas; te felicito; a los tres los quiero, pero de una manera muy especial a mi Barry; ya lo sabes porque te lo he escrito ya. Un afectuoso abrazo.
I love this song! So well written. I think I was about 6 or 7 when I got my first record album, 'Living Eyes'. I grew up on the Bee Gees and will always love these guys. And very humble down to earth good people they are at that.
The real problem is that the Bee Gees were far too successful, there was a lot of jealousy involved from music writers, and other bands. Then came the disco backlash, which was odd because the Bee Gees never classed themselves as disco, it was a tag given to songs from that era. This album as good as is, was doomed to fail, I personally thought it was brilliant! a real showcase for their talents. I still think its one of the finest albums they have ever recorded, it shows how fickle people are.
Ok, completly understood, thanks again for your perfect and very complete explanation! And that's why they were out of stage and of recording for 6 years?
Yep, they could write together easily, but recording together wasn't settled.
When they did record together again, the co producers had been axed.
There was of course the Stayin' Alive soundtrack, but Barry did virtually all of the recording for that on his own; the demo's they made for other artists were much easier to produce because, obviously, they were never going to be heared so there was no worries.
They were both ambitious, and they equally felt prepared to lead the group, so when they were teenagers they weren't prepared to deal with that; so of course Robin left as Barry was being favoured.
But arguments will often enhance the music, and it did in this case slightly, Barry and Robin were duelling personalities, they preferred completely different song structures but they created a blend..
But my favourite one is Barry, I definitly love his voice, his style, his feeling that he puts when he sings and writes, his gorgeous voice, his falsetto, I love everything about him, he's definitly a Living Legend!!
Yeah, he sings in partial falsetto on Special, Toys (tiny bit), In and Out Of Love, Remedy, E.S.P, Hold On To My Love (Little scream), Juliet (of course), Don't stop the night, Sensuality has a little scream..and there's probably more but off the top of my head, there you go!;)
In 1993 he said 'I never sing in falsetto, Barry and Robin are the falsetto experience', obviously he can sing very high here and there but he never really went for falsetto.
Because he was never to keen on exposing his voice and, to be blunt, it wasn't as good as Robin or Barry's, but you can hear him go high in harmony's hear and there.
Rings Around The Moon and Love Never Dies were recorded in 1994 for the Love Songs hit collection, thye were b-sides for Still Waters, so was the the Brits Medley, there is also a version of Stayin' Alive recorded in 1996, which was on the 'I Could Not Love You More' single and Decadance for Size.
Yes, but I'm talking about songs that didn't figurate in the album tracklist, from Alone to Smoke and Mirrors, from that years, 1995, 96, 97, 98, 99...
Thanks for posting. The entire album is cool, but I am especially fond of this Mo tune. Mo was paying tribute to Brian Wilson when he sang those Beach Boy style melodies. He did the same in '67 on their first album, hitting the high notes on Please Read Me.
Can anyone else hear the influence of the Beach Boys in this song? The line 'One look in your eyes' sounds like Brian Wilson, and the bass line at the very end sounds like Mike Love. I'm a fan of both groups by the way - both legendary!
1981's album "Living eyes" was not exactly the best product for the Bee Gees to try and follow the success of Spirits Having Flown. So there was more than just the "disco" backlash against them. L.E. was more an adult oriented album, full of ballads.

one of my favourites from «Living eyes» album. Maurice really dos it very well, his voice sounds great, amazing song!!!
I just can't understand why was Living Eyes a non-success album, just doesn't make any sense!! LOVE THE BEE GEES!!!
ninmmm 3 years ago
They hated making it, some of it was badly recorded and it got no airplay.;)
Thats why.
I also love the Bee Gees, but thats why.;)
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Ok, thanks a lot! But why did they hate?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Well they hated it themselves because it was poorly recorded and they sturggled to work together on it.
Production wise, Maurice began to get involved for the first time in 5 years, this meant that co proucers were pushed aside, meaning lots of arguments
There is a reason why Maurice only plays acoustic guitars that are lost in the mix on this album, Barry wanted the Bee Gees to be a vocal group
And now of course they had axed nearly all their band, using plenty of new to them session players
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Ok, completly understood, thanks again for your perfect and very complete explanation! And that's why they were out of stage and of recording for 6 years?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Yep, they could write together easily, but recording together wasn't settled.
When they did record together again, the co producers had been axed.
There was of course the Stayin' Alive soundtrack, but Barry did virtually all of the recording for that on his own; the demo's they made for other artists were much easier to produce because, obviously, they were never going to be heared so there was no worries.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
And why have they decided to return and make an album writing and singing together again?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Because by that time they had calmed and the producer of E.S.P., Arif Mardin had all their respect due to their past work.;)
This didn't stop Robin and Barry arguing though, they stopped recording at several points but eventually they agreed on the direction.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Oh ok, great! ;)
But there's something I never understood...
Why were and are Robin and Barry always argueing and fighting between each other?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Well, they were brothers for a start..;D
They were both ambitious, and they equally felt prepared to lead the group, so when they were teenagers they weren't prepared to deal with that; so of course Robin left as Barry was being favoured.
But arguments will often enhance the music, and it did in this case slightly, Barry and Robin were duelling personalities, they preferred completely different song structures but they created a blend..
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Oh, very nice, I totally agree with you! ;D
And hat's your favourite Bee Gee?
ninmmm 3 years ago
I don't really have a favourite, if forced with a gun to my head I might say Robin...but I don't have one.:D
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Oh I see, that's a really great choice :D
But my favourite one is Barry, I definitly love his voice, his style, his feeling that he puts when he sings and writes, his gorgeous voice, his falsetto, I love everything about him, he's definitly a Living Legend!!
ninmmm 3 years ago
And do you have any favourite Bee Gees' album?
ninmmm 3 years ago
I don't really have a favourite album, I'd say 1st and Still Waters, old and new, although most of the rest are vying for top spot.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
That are definitly really well choose!!
Mine are maybe Living eyes, Syze isn't everything or First!!
ninmmm 3 years ago
And do you know if Robin sings in falsetto in any other song than Living Together from Spirits Having Flown album?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Yeah, he sings in partial falsetto on Special, Toys (tiny bit), In and Out Of Love, Remedy, E.S.P, Hold On To My Love (Little scream), Juliet (of course), Don't stop the night, Sensuality has a little scream..and there's probably more but off the top of my head, there you go!;)
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
oh my God, you have such an amazing and impressive knowledge about the Bee Gees, thanks a lot for all the informations and Congratulations!!! ;D
And what about Maurice?
ninmmm 3 years ago
In 1993 he said 'I never sing in falsetto, Barry and Robin are the falsetto experience', obviously he can sing very high here and there but he never really went for falsetto.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
But do you know what are the causes to him don't want to sing in falsetto?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Because he was never to keen on exposing his voice and, to be blunt, it wasn't as good as Robin or Barry's, but you can hear him go high in harmony's hear and there.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Oh, ok, I agree with you! ;D
But on «Nights on Broadway» he sings some time in falsetto...
ninmmm 3 years ago
Nope, thats Barry.
Live Maurice did it so the other 2 coud carry the chrous but on the record its Barry, on Here At Last it was added later...by Barry.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
ok, understood!
And it's true they were planning release a new album the same year Maurice died?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Nope, thats not true.;)
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
oh ok, thanks! ;)
I thought I'd heard it from Barry or Robin in an interview after Maurice passed away...
ninmmm 3 years ago
«Love is Blind» is a Barry Gibb's or Bee Gee's song?
ninmmm 3 years ago
It was a Bee Gees song written for TIWICI by all 3, the demo has Maurice on guitar.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
OK, thaks!
ninmmm 3 years ago
Do you know the name of all the songs that were not released or realeased as BONUS on the Still Waters album? For example, Rings around the moon
ninmmm 3 years ago
Rings Around The Moon and Love Never Dies were recorded in 1994 for the Love Songs hit collection, thye were b-sides for Still Waters, so was the the Brits Medley, there is also a version of Stayin' Alive recorded in 1996, which was on the 'I Could Not Love You More' single and Decadance for Size.
Thats all of them
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Oh and there is the demo for Still Waters which was on the Still Waters single.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Yes, but I'm talking about songs that didn't figurate in the album tracklist, from Alone to Smoke and Mirrors, from that years, 1995, 96, 97, 98, 99...
ninmmm 3 years ago
That didn't figure on the album tracklist?
Thats what I just told you! ;)
LukeShoveller 3 years ago
Ok, and si only that demo besides Rings around the moon?
ninmmm 3 years ago
Love Never Dies was also not on the album as well, and there's the version of Stayin' Alive, the Brits Medley and Decadance.
LukeShoveller 3 years ago

1981's album "Living eyes" was not exactly the best product for the Bee Gees to try and follow the success of Spirits Having Flown. So there was more than just the "disco" backlash against them. L.E. was more an adult oriented album, full of ballads.
Nontheless, WILDFLOWER, vocalized by Maurice Gibb, and with guitar contribution from Don Felder (of the Eagles) is for me simply one of the best songs by the Bee Gees.
