The music is beautiful, but, I don't know how to feel about this. A song is given lyrics for a reason; it helps extenuate the meaning and soul behind the song. Stripping the lyrics from the song takes away from the meaning. In this particular song, I don't think the orchestra is connecting to the original meaning of the piece. Again, I think the sound itself is beautiful; I just don't know how well the cover actually mirrors the meaning of the original song.

@TheHawkeyedOne do you really believe this song doesn't capture the melancholy and longing of the original? In fact what makes me so emotional about this piece is how the chorus has that sense of urgency desperation, emotion, and hope that the lyrics in the original have: "So if you have a minute why don't we go, talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything, so why don't we go somewhere only we know?" This arrangement really nails that part.

Like I said, I don't really know how to feel. I get a sense with the composition of it being "epic", when the song is supposed to be really small and meek. I think it captures the longing really well, but I just get a feeling of the emotion being expressed to the high heavens, with actual pride and power. The original song is supposed to feel really small and longing; he wants to express himself but can't muster the courage or conviction to actually express it.

This shows how this keane song seriously marked our generation. Not all songs can make us feel what this song provokes. The Keane version it's just amazing but this, God, I just don't know how to describe it. The next CDs after this recording are quite good but guess the band will not do something like this again.

I seriously started listening to this expecting it to be a good version, but sort of disinterested, and then my heart just stopped...overwhelming. I've rarely listened to songs that just make my heart explode from how beautiful they are.
