None really... I connected the bass in the mic input of my laptop and, I turned up the tone and volume knob since it has a passive pick-up... What I think helped with the sound is that I use flatwound strings.

So... the software I use to record is Audacity... I don't remember well, but I think you need to download an add-on that allows you to export what you record in mp3 format.
