Personally I have abandoned all of mans holidays for Gods Holydays. The hardest part for me as I’m sure for all who do this is how well Satan was weaved these days around our children. You become evil or at best an outcast of neighbors and family if you don’t follow mans days and a religious nut if you follow Gods. Thankfully I have always been a bit of a pariah so my skin is a little tougher.
And I have to say that I am quite disappointed in the end of the video, where the narrator actually uses Jeremiah 10 as if it were a warning against our modern Christmas. I know how this woman worked with pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, and how they did an excellent series on evolution. But calling Jeremiah 10 a warning against Christmas is exegetical nonsense, which I will demonstrate in a video or two shortly.
Funny how that video completely misinterprets Jeremiah 10. What that passage is referring to, Lane, is the making of wooden idols (this was given by Dr. White in last night's sermon on Jeremiah 10: 1-16).
i guess isaiah was refering to something other than christmas too when he said, the FIR trees rejoice at the destruction of babylon saying because you are gone, no feller has come to cut us down
Christians shouldnt celebrate Xmass AT ALL Also it was the queen of Babylon that orderd people to decorate trees with balls to represent the sun god Baal
Anyway the Chistian religion comes from the mother of all churches, the Roman Catholic church Rev 17:5 & they still rule today !
The Bible says no temple shall be built to worship in -So Chistians build churches to worship in
Bible says no idol or image shall be made -So Christians make an idol of a long haired man on a cross
It would be nice if they would get our traditions right. Thats not what missletoe was used for at all. Its bad enough christians stole our holidays for themselves, the could at least explain our rituals right. I guess its more fun to think of us as blood thirsty rapists.
you're just being ignorant and don't want to realize the truth behind all these traditions. You have every right to be angry but non the less, all this is true. Search more for yourself.
Christ said he wants us to remember his death &resurrection. Not birthday. It was pagan tradition to celebrate birthdays. The roman catholic church adopted the 25th(already a pagan holiday) to lure pagan butts into the seats which worked but they also allowed all the pagan traditions even though the Bible speaks against following any pagan traditions or rituals. once again, the catholic church pulled the wool over our eyes.
God hates win people mix pagan worship wit His worship. So y would anybody want 2 dishornor God like dat. Da preacher in this clip seem 2 be scaried 2 tell his flock dat, he needed 2 voice what was right.
I agree. he didn't want to "say too much" because more people go to church on christmas than any other day of the year. That would make a huge dent in their wallets.
I celebrate Christmas every year, I don't care how it originated I do it in the name of Christ and (yes I do), and if you have a problem with it then that's your problem. I like it. And I can't wait 'till next year.
Why you putting out this info and yet your telling the people your not asking them to stop these pratices. Bottom line is this isn't the time in which Jeasus was born thus they celabrating the birth of a pagaen. I also know that Nimrod the ruler of Babylon was also born on Dec 25th and his ashes were place in an evergreen tree. Peace
I knew some of the history of Christmas, but this was eye-opening. I always dread this time of year and now have more information to combat the garbage. All glory to Christ- Thanks Lane
so, when it comes to me and my family celebrating Christmas, r we in right or wrong when we have lights, wrapped presents, a decorated tree, and stockings and yet we arent doing it to practice some sota Pagan Art, we celebrate it, at least i do, cuz of what Jesus did. the lights, stockings, etc. we just have for fun.
Like Kielar said at the end, this wasn't presented to say it was right or wrong, but it was presented to show how these came about so one can make educated decisions regarding celebrating them. Again, it's a case of Christian conscience.
Thank you much Lane. Ive been convicted and hesitant about Christmas for quite a while now, and this is the perfect tool to share with my family and friends.
skala, the entire sermon is posted on the Stage6 page now. The whole thing is very edifying. He talks extensively about Christ's virgin birth in it, as well.
If we count all pagan religions of today and of the past, there are billions of pagan gods with millions of pagan practices and traditions.
Just take weddings -> The exchange of the ring, the dress, trowing the brides flowers, etc. When you sneeze and someone says "God bless you", etc. If we were to try to stop all our traditions that come from paganism, we would simply become paranoid and go crazy.
why would anyone associate a holy (separated thing for God's purpose) to a bodily function? If someone coughs should we then start saying, "May God keep you"? I have been told 'bless you' for my record 21 times of sneezing consecuitively, at the office. Not once did I respond, but people feel so compelled to do something by tradition, that of which they have no idea why.
That is interesting. I don't myself decorate for Christmas and I consider that Christmas is for unbelievers. Because they only have that day as "Christian", wereas we communicate with God every day. But there is a uge problem, and it is that probably every single tradition that we have and practice COMES from paganism. Think about it, there are billions of pagan gods. Just Hindouism has over 300 million gods (that's only one religion).
Very good and so encouraging and refreshing to see that not all Christians are ignorant of this basically Romanist and pagan festival. Look at its fruits - materialistic and carnal mostly. It is an embarassment to Christianity.
This has been tugging on my heart for a few years now. Just today, I was telling a friend of mine how disconnected I feel from the holiday celebrated here. Even my mother made me feel bad for not going to a Christmas Eve gathering with her. I love my mom, but I just had no desire to go.
Thanks, Lane. It's a sad thing to remember that we had a long period of rejecting this mass/feast, only to be won over by the world. I can't celebrate it anymore, even as I couldn't eat meat, if I knew it was sacrificed to an idol.
I have it now. I should be posting it on Stage6 by the end of the day. If you have podcasting, you can go to firstboynton dot com and subscribe via Itunes. You will be able to download it from there as well.
Four years ago I stopped celebrating this fest as I couldn't reconcile it with my conscience.
It hasn't been easy because most people do see you as a pharisee and overzealous during this time and that hurts. Correct me if wrong but I think that The Lord wants to make us, the people He has set apart for Himself, sensitive to what is His and what is not.
No longer blind and crippled sheep following after the way of the world.

Many stand to gain from the celebration of Christmas. There are many things that preachers who really study the Word of God know but don't teach.
It's too bad that after all that knowledge that preacher refused to take a stand.

"God is on the throne and a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."
It's true. Without the Lord we can't break from any kind of evil. Take care.

saying "God Bless You" when someoen sneezes is a Pagan thing? How?
2corinthians710 4 years ago
We were told in school that it meant it was stopping the spirit leaving the body?! Certainly that's not Christian.
