So, what does this mean to individuals, Corporations, or Government agencies? If your data is non-sensitive, simply running a CD through a shredder will most likely be sufficient. If your data is Corporate or Government sensitive data, the chance of unauthorized person rebuilding some or all of this data can result in grave damage to your security or livelihood.
Thank you for allowing us to clarify media destruction. With respect to Compact Discs, one CD can hold over 300,000 pages of data. While it is true that simply scratching the surface of a CD will render it unreadable in a conventional optical disc drive, existing forensic data recovery techniques can recover data from a broken CD piece as small as 5mm by 5mm square. The DX-CD2 destroys data to the 250 micron level. At this level, data is unrecoverable by any known forensic means.
I will admit though that out of all these so called CD destroyers, this one is the best as it does totally erase the CD...but why bother when a shredder does it.
this is a wast of money disk dar double layered plastic dowdays so that you cant destroy it buy scratching. bit with a razer you can. takes 2 sec with a razer

Except from making cool transparent disks this is useless. Why not rasp the disk with some sandpaper instead? A few good strokes should do the trick!

anyone who wanted to recover the data could do so with a careful and extensive polishing
