he hit at the worst possible area on the track, a gate where vehicles go through to get into the infield. that's what caused his car to fold up like that and split into. michael waltrip was in a similar wreck in 1990 at bristol. i always wondered how the car ended up like that though, it wasn't that long ago, and you'd think cars would be a little more safer than that by then. but for some unearthly reason the safety cage failed, and that guy is more than lucky to be alive.

@ownwar8 maybe it was open but i think he just hit that part of the wall so hard it blew the entrance of the track open, but what do i know. one this i have noticed is there is an oppening on the back stretch of talledaga and so many cars hit making the crash alot worst than it should have been
