@predatorxv as already said, the story is real, only thing yo ushould not believe are the creatures. and the fighting was more ... in formation, not that heroic but still as brutal as in the movie. the troop numbers of the persians are a litle bit exaggerated too, but nevertheless the 300 spartans and their allies were overwhelmed by a huge mass of enemies.

@predatorxv Dude believe it, though the movie has some fiction and exaggerations, it's the closest to the real story of the spartan way of life and the 300...... :D
@predatorxv It was true, other than the beasts, and the numbers of Xerxes forces. Classical historians claimed up to 2.6million (I believe that is the highest), while more modern analysis suggests up to 300,000. Either way, it's still a lot of them.
There were also more Greeks, (up to 5,000 all told) though most retreated when the pass was discovered, with the Spartans and a few others forming the rearguard, which they are famous for.
this movie could be the best movie ever without those stupid special effects or making Persians look like some ugly beasts especially Xerxez who looks like an 8 feet gay guy

They were all in great shape before, thats why they got the part, all they had to do is get the abs and loose some fat, which can be done in 8 weeks of intesive training i guess
@tvdl No, While everyone had a good foundation to build on. Most of them were just normal men. You would be amazed at what you can do with the human body over an 8 week period. I mean, you can go from someone thats fat with a 40 inch pant size, down to someone with a 30 - 32 inch pant size. Its entirely possible, though a better time frame is 90 days. You have to realize that it takes a massive diet change and complete dedication to what you're trying to do.
@Baronstone I'm into bodybuilding myself and like I said, pure muscle building like that doesn't happen like that in 8 weeks (without steriods), loosing weight however is easy, so you're right there,it just takes dedication. I just meant they had the muscles before they started this training. :)
@tvdl sorry to break it to you, but it's very possible, ive been lifting on and off for years, and doing alot of athletic activities as well, and based on that i would agree with you, it takes more than 8 weeks. But there was a short time period where i changed my mind on what's possible in such a short amount of time and it was when i wrestled my senior year of highschool. @mellowb1rd That's true, but your body retains the memory of a previous strength or size, making it much easier to get back into shape if even at one point in your life you were very physically fit.
@Dartha999 Yeah, getting back in shape is way quicker than getting there the first time. Makes me wish I'd worked out more when I was a teenager and full of the kind of hormones you don't have to stab holes in your ass to get. Then I could have chilled through my twenties, knowing I could just get it all back in my thirties. (Actually, I wonder how long the "memory" lasts. It's not genetic, so it may wear off)
@Dartha999 I imagine it last for most of your life, because your brain and body are going to retain any kind of memory that could ensure survival, so it's like being prepared just in case the enviorment changes or you need to adapt to anything new.
they're are not animated thats a fact but some of the guys didn't have abs so they had to get it drawed unto them, but looks realistic enough so who gives a crap

@NamesSuk Oh? and what you "educated?" people dont grasp is the understanding of morales it seems.
The persians are morally wrong as they travel the world destroying anyone who doesnt follow their ideals, now if you was to compare that to say... the Nazis, would we say they were not morally bad either? Because they seem to be the same idea, although for different reasons.
@ItsBradderz What you don't understand because you know nothing about history is that the Persians didn't conquer because they didn't like others ideals. The thing about them is they pretty much let the area keep their way of life. They conquered because they wanted to for no reason but that. @TimeWePretend nope, they were required for the movie to be like that. butler almost couldnt do it because he was having a hard time developing his core
@TheLagunaSunrise makes me ashamed xD, I wanna wear this as a fancy dress one day, gonna have to lose weight and get stronger for it :P good incentive
@jivandabomber111 Wrong, idiot. They had to work their fucking balls off and were on a special diet. Animated? lmao you dumb shite. The background is animated you fucking worthless cunt.
You're the perfect example of why, sometimes, abortion is the right option. Shame on your cunt Mother for not terminating.
@jivandabomber111 jivandabomber go look up gym jones you fucking scrub, how old r u 12 13? they spend 16 weeks training before the film you sack of shit. Its even posted on the gym jones website. god damn kids like you need to do research before you talk shit
what is truly inspiring about this film is that it is a true story. There really was a small band of Greek warriors who held of a massive Persian ( modern day Iranian) army who tried to invade their country.
The graphic novel and movie are loosely based on real historical events. The spartans weren't uber-supermen and xerxes wasn't a 8 foot looking indian/egyptian.
Do the people on here realise that music is a form of metal? It's nine inch nails - pioneers of industrial metal... trent resnor is a legend of the genre . Check them out if you havent already, epic - yes, metal - also.
it was the true answare if you read history. At that time Leonidas was dead and the persians were trying to take his body but the other Spartasns were resisting. Finaly the persians surrounded the few remainig spartans and told them to surrender or their arrows will block out the sun. Then one Spartan ansawered : It would be better to fight in the shade because it is hot today.
Nope. Leonidas died early in battle. He was always fighting in front line. Then the persians tried to steal the corpse of leonidas but the other spartans defended it. At the end the persians surrounded the few remaining spartans and told them to surrender or else their arrows will block out the sun and then one spartan replied "its better to fight in the shade because its hot today"
after the persians killed every spartan, only then they were able to take the head and body of Leonidas. Don't forget that Leonidas was the second king of Sparta ans Xerxis had a former king of Sparta as advisor named DImaratos
The Spartans warriors actually had homosexual relations with each other...

@hxcswagg, So? This is a pretty well known historical fact. They also fought in battle naked. Although I've read not always.

A fighting force of whites (Spartans) against some evil from Persia (Iran).
Not bad for jewish producers of this movie in their sinister propaganda to pursue their agenda in the Middle East.

what is truly inspiring about this film is that it is a true story. There really was a small band of Greek warriors who held of a massive Persian ( modern day Iranian) army who tried to invade their country.
wlwak 2 years ago 2
@wlwak

"Fight in the shade" hahaha....truely a wow movie!
aswinrulz 2 years ago 4
it was the true answare if you read history.
BattosaiKenpachi 2 years ago 2
How did leonidas really die ??....with athe arrows or what ?
filamboy18 2 years ago
BattosaiKenpachi 2 years ago 3
i read that the persians, took the head or body for a few years, before the spartans got it back
bfoaliali 1 year ago
after the persians killed every spartan, only then they were able to take the head and body of Leonidas. Don't forget that Leonidas was the second king of Sparta ans Xerxis had a former king of Sparta as advisor named DImaratos

300...awesome!!
