If God does not speak to us through the Holy Spirit then how do you explain to me God telling me to go to a christian rehab to get off of drugs when I was making excuses in my head not to go, or God telling me that cigarrettes were my god just before i went there.

Yes i agree.

For example what about the gifts of the spirit such as prophecy and the word of knowledge?

I know there are abuses of the gifts but lets get a balance.

Just because there are some false teachers out there lets not discard the whole thing.

I know God speaks personaly in relationship to his children but everything must line up according to his word.

this is a prophesy only for what happened on pentacost that is it. it was fulfilled its done. please do not take verses out of context. prophesy also says Jesus will be born of a virgin, are many other people supposed to be born of virgins? no only once and that was Jesus

Seems pretty clear to me that the Bible instructs us to continue in the ministry of healing.

I think that he is wrong about no one being able to hear from God today. It is true that the Word of God is our source of truth and revelations MUST be judged by the Bible. I personally have heard from the Lord as have many other christians. I have also have had dreams that were from God as well. The prophecy of the Holy Spirit from Joel 2 says that the Holy Spirit will be poured out upon all flesh until the Day of the Lord.

I hear the voice of God, and through the Holy Spirit... He has lead me into truth and leads me today. I have been taught, comforted, and protected through the word by the Holy Spirit.

God does speak to his people... but everything must be judged by the scripture which is the final authority on what has been spoken.

John 10:27

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Who are the sheep other than the people of God?

okay thanks sister i thought i was the only one because if we are controlled by the holy spirit than god has to speak to his people but we have to hear the voice of god and know that it is him because we know the enemy can transform into an angel of light
