wow. for the strongest handgun, it sure doesnt kick much. m uncle has a s&w 460 and when i was 9, i couldnt even hold it up. so i cant imagine how heavy the 500 is
They don't come with suppressors, they come with muzzle brakes. A suppressor reduces the noise of the shoot making the gun quieter, a muzzle break redirects the gas coming out of the muzzle to help reduce recoil.
Lol, I'm sorry. Were you the one that hit the thumbs down though? Doubt it, I've shot one before and I'd apologize if I was sorry but yeah. I understand the concept of the gas causing the recoil. Regardless, thanks for correcting me.
@Megahedron1501 They are not suppressed, the is the military term for a silencer. The are Magna-ported. A type of muzzle brake/compensator. The .500 magnum becomes abusive very quickly when you fire the heaviest loads for it. The Corbon 475 and 545 grain loads are monsters and very hard on the wrists. It is a great hunting hand gun, but, unless you are going to practice with reduced loads, not real friendly to all day shooting sessions.
one it depends on the grain of the round and its designed to release gases and all that bullshit out of the barrel at its sides.keeps the recoil suprising low.check other vids of it and watch the muzzle flash.
that was actually the first day that kid had shot a gun in his life, before shooting the .500 he handled a ruger p89 9mm, a ak-47, and we had him feel the loving touch of a 3inch 12 gauge slug
This kid is shooting a target round, not a hunting load. A HUGE difference in kick. Rate the BULLET, not the gun. The 500 has the capability of shooting a more powerful round. The 500 has no power of its own.
Well said, the firearm is merely an instrument. Those are very weak cartrides, looks like about 45 colt equivilent. No problem with that, makes for excellent training. Kids got good form.

Really the recoil on it isn't that bad. They come standard with a suppressor. There are handguns that are worse than the S&W 500.

No, I didn't hit the thumbs down, but I'll give it a thumbs up to take away the negative.

that didn't seem like that much of recoil
DrsJacksonn 3 years ago
They are toned down loads, the guy that owns the gun reloads them. But with a normal round it hurts your hand like hell.

is that the one with standard muzzle thing or the beefed up more expensive one i couldnt tell in the vid to far away

lol why does everyone have to wait so long before firing a shot??
bbking93 3 years ago
to aim duh!
squirlboy006 3 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
is it necessary to aim for 5 minutes??
(although, ive never shot a gun b4)LOL
most of the videos shows the dude/dudett wating for more than half the time...
bbking93 3 years ago
Well, if you like hitting your target, take as much time as you need.
A lot of people who have never fired a gun just assume it is as simple as "just point and shoot".
KurNorock 3 years ago
wow that assumption is idiotic! i have never fired a gun and i think if i wanted to hit something small (like a bullseye) i would take 6 seconds

Those are light loads. Try firing the 440gr Hard Cast lead loads.

Nice control, had to be weak loads though.

Great gun handling, good job kid. Nice stance too.

compared to most videos of the 500, this one looked like the shooter actually knew what he was doing.

that muzzle hardly flip due good handling & I don't know if you notice but you using the weaver stance, same stance that I use! good work!
jl2box 4 years ago
That's NOT due to his stance. It's due to shooting light target loads.

still, good form never hurts anything.
