haha, the way he says "but soft WHATLIGHTTHROUGHTHEWINDOWBREAKS" is hilarious. i've been wanting to know what that verse means. it's not easy to infere, not to non-native english speakers.
I dunno how I feel about this. I get the actress playing on the moody teen aspect of Juliet's character. It makes Juliet stronger and more relatable to a modern audience. BUT in my view takes away the naaive romanticism of Juliet. I don't believe that THIS Juliet would willingly arrange to marry a man she met that night. Also I dunno I don't fully connect to their love story. But there's no denying they are two great actors but I don't think the chemistry is fully there (at some points).
@carpediemlove2live I think, the choices of the actress especially the stronger personality of Juliet makes their chemistry more connected. Juliet having a stronger personality gives Romeo (or the actor's choices) more desire to get the love of his life.
@KANANGINIS It [strong choices of the actress - can be an obstacle that romeo must surpass] gives more realistic love (in the point of view of teens - an ideal romantic love) and makes the choices of Romeo(the character) have deeper sense because of a life and death stakes.
@KANANGINIS look how eager Romeo in this scene, just to have a word, to get what he wanted...it's all because of the obstacles he was facing. the security, Juliet's "strong personality over him", their family quarrel etc. and it makes sense why he's behaving in that way, having choices to do this and that :) just a constructive comment :) anyway, I love RSC :)
I saw this production at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. The entire cast was wonderful, but Jonjo O'Neill (as Mercutio) stole the show!
I'm trying to persuade Kenneth Branagh to make a film version of "Romeo and Juliet." (Search Facebook for: Kenneth Branagh, Please Make a Movie of Romeo and Juliet!)
I hope (if he does) he'll ask Mr. O'Neill to reprise his role.
Just saw the play today! It was wonderful but I was so sad/disappointed that I didn't get to see this Romeo (the understudy was performing due to a knee injury). Would love to see a dvd version with the original actors!!

It really is the best production! With the most outrageous Mercutio! It so deserves to be preserved for everyone to enjoy!
If not DVD, Digital Theatre, as with As You Like it?
Any plans to record Any of the performances in New York?

Any chance this is going to be put onto DVD? By far the greatest Romeo and Juliet production I've ever seen.
