  • I didn't know that this was comedy... This is funny. :D

  • You can tell David and Robert are history buffs.

  • NAZI STILL ALIVE IN NEW SWABIA

  • Comment removed

  • And here's an analysis of our military situation in one rude word lol

  • "There's a growing housing shortage."

    lol

  • @JJJMMM1 Yeah, I wonder if that's due to the bombings or because they gassed everyone in realestate.

  • Doenitz's wife was named Ingeborg !!!!!!!

  • I like how all the Nazis are English !! lulz

  • @EJLSWE Well yes, it's... an English show. With all english actors.

  • If only those uniformss weren't associated with facism....

  • @BritishTrekkie952 The Nazis had such sharp uniforms because they were designed by Hugo Boss, an actual fashion designer.

  • @SereneSatellites He designed clothes so that you could dress like a boss.

  • "Growing Housing Shortage" HAHA!

  • Admiral wasn't named the fuhrer after Hitler committed suicide, he was named president of the Flensburg government

  • @Stalinsurfstheweb He wasn't named fuhrer in this comedy sketch either, he only thought that he was.

  • @Stalinsurfstheweb Yes his official title he got from Hitler's will as Staatsoberhaupt was Reichspräsident, but as head of state it wouldn't be out context to call him "leader" or "the leader." He'd probably understand what they meant. After all the style of Head of State was changed in 1942 to Führer des Großdeutschen Reiches, maybe it was just old habits. Also in this fictional comedy sketch Dönitz is just finding out Hitler's dead and he's next HoS. He's not be given the full information yet.

  • dman, the german uniforms look good!

  • 0:15 - 0:18 restrained jubilation. Well done

  • 'OK Admiral Donitz, here's General Eisenhower's telephone number, here's the English for "we give up", and here's an analysis of our military situation summed up in one rude word'

  • Real Life Doenitz probably would have answered with a "OMFG....why me :("

  • Doenitz fucking RAWKZ!!!!!!

  • ur never gonna guess.......THEY MADE ME THE NEW FUHRER!!!!

  • LOL

  • Poor Doenitz. :(

  • Heil Doenitz.

  • what movie is this from?

  • @australianforlife The TV show 'That Mitchell and Webb Look.'

  • yes mein fuhrer

    Nice

  • I kinda feel bad for him haha!

  • Heil me? :p

  • Hm.... appears 38 angry nazis rage quit this video in disappointment after giving this video a thumbs down...

    Jolly good :)

  • "...this isn't just one of those pranks you play on all the new Fuhrer's is it?"

    lmao :p

  • It's a tad strange how Mitchell plays all these nazi characters? lol

  • @almac62 he actually loves ww11

  • This video is actually censored in Germany (you just can't see it there). Hm, I wonder why.

  • @ninamaya

Bann in Germany, even this? Are you kidding me?

It's not like there's going to be another Hitler because of a little comedy thing.

  • @jimmyxx3 Actually quite a lot is censored. This hitler stuff, because of Nazi symbols, despite it being just harmless comedy. So some southpark episodes are also banned. Other stuff is censored because of copyright violation (ONLY for German viewers). Heck it's almost like in China!

  • I wish he stayed Fuhrer for longer :( This goes to show that some Nazi's are sweet.

  • epic music

  • Nazis may not have been good but god damn it they knew how to dress.

  • @AlexGlogerTV I knoooooow. I always feel really guilty for finding their uniforms hot.

  • @AlexGlogerTV maybe something to do with, that the ss uniforms were designed by hugo boss.

  • @AlexGlogerTV In the words of Dylan Moran, on the subject of the SS stormtroopers, "Check him out, before he shoots us!"

  • @AlexGlogerTV Hugo Boss designed them.

  • @AlexGlogerTV ..,congratulations your officially gay!

  • @AlexGlogerTV The SS unifrom were designed by Hugo boss. I think the shirts SA wore was also from Hugo Boss...

  • @xifel72 lol, you what???

  • @xifel72 No they weren't. The Unifroms were made in one of Hugo Boss's factories. Not Designed by him.

  • lol, the growing housing shortage

  • what a shit

  • 37 people, as of the posting of this statement, are confirmed morons.

  • german uniforms sure are stunning

  • @Tigergruppen88 The Uniforms was designed by Hugo Boss. No joke.

  • @frostyfever "only" for SS, Hitler Jugend and the Brownshirts though.

  • @Tigergruppen88 They were made by Hugo Boss, of course they are stunning.

  • Why do you lot just write down quotes you bunch of wiredo's

  • "heres how you say '"we surrender' in english".... in english?

  • @thetruefreak678 He was surrendering to an American.

  • "hey! heil me thou !"

"isn't this one of those pranks you play on your new fuhrers isn't it ??"

'do you mind just doing me a quick heil doenitz , just so I can say I've had one"

  • @jorgeoscar1000 PEDRO, HEY! Hacer burro dormir AL AIRE LIBRE

entonces hermana ninguna más que apestan!!!!!

  • they make me want to learn more about history

  • Awwh, I want to give Donitz a hug.

And a proper "Heil Donitz". ^^

  • Heil me though, eh? Heil me.

  • heres gen. Eisenhower's and heres the English for "we give up"

    LMFAO

  • growing housing shortage

  • Once Hitler shot himself, Joseph Goebbels became Chancellor and Admiral Doenitz became President. Before that Hitler held both posts. Goebbels killed himself, but Doenitz did not. I do not think there was a post called Führer. That word simply means leader.

  • @82abhilash yeah, um.. it's a freaking comedy sketch, not a history lesson.

  • @gluebubble Why cannot freaky comedy sketches be historically accurate? It would be nice you know. People should not be misinformed when they are laughing. Jon Stewart would never knowingly do that.

  • @82abhilash Go watch John Stewart then, and let us 'idiots' watch good comedy.

  • @gluebubble I never called you an idiot.

  • @82abhilash ya but in this situation him saying that they hade made him the new leader would have been taken in context and they were in unusual circumstances anyway. You're arguing a non-issue. Also Hitler was never president... Hindenberg handed over all the power of the head of state to him but he never occupied the office himself and it was common to call party leaders at the time Fuhrer though in different contexts. German Soldier's oaths at the time also used the word.

  • @pleasejump I'm sorry to point it out mate but the guy's name was HindenbUrg not HindenbErg. I know it's a mistake due to inadvertence, but there are a lot of morons that would just see it and take it at its face value... spread it in their moron-ranks and stuff you know...

    Lebehoch!

  • @kozioff aye, an oversight on my part, thanks man. Cheers!

  • @82abhilash The style of the Head of State was also changed on July 28, 1942 to Führer des Großdeutschen Reiches. Meaning leader of the greater German reich although the head of state had been called as such in legal print since 1934 when he combined the power of head of state and head government. so yes there was an offical post call Führer. If you want accuracy so bad you should think before you speak, even just wiki it. me I'm cool with some mess ups. People make mistakes and its still funny

  • @82abhilash The official post was titled Chancellor, but its title of one who held it I'm sure was Führer (at least Hitler made it that way)

  • @samhutchinson107 It was a supposed to be a rigid hierarchy. Something called the Führer principe. You listen to your superior without question. Anyone addressed to their superior officers as my Führer.

  • @82abhilash while fuhrer was the german word for leader I'm pretty sure it acquired a special meaning in nazi germany and only hitler was referred to by that term (until he died and another german briefly acquired that title). are you sure they really addressed all superior officers as fuhrer? because im pretty sure they had their own titles.

  • @AussiePolitics Their own titles you say... SturmbannFÜHRER, HauptsturmFÜHRER, ScharFÜHRER, ObersturmbannFÜHRER, StandartenFÜHRER... AutoFÜHRER. There were a lot of Führers in our Reich these days... yep...

  • @kozioff yes but when you addressed a SturmbannFÜHRER you referred to them by their formal title - SturmbannFÜHRER. you did not abbreviate or shorten it .

  • @AussiePolitics Of course you don't... It was a damn stupid joke! That's how I know you are no German now - you would've understood it and laugh at it if you were... phahaha

By the way - do you know how many gears does an Italian tank have? 5 - two forward and 3 backward! Phahaha... (see what I mean!)

    Have a nice one!

  • @chewinggumful

You can't just say "bad comedic effort, Lacks everything, I didn't laugh."

Well, the dvd sold very well and the tv show got great ratings.

Some things you will like, some you won't.

  • Nazi says no!

  • @Sumabus - You're talking shit mate.

  • @WaleedRahman It is black humour, but very funny in my opinion.

  • ahahhaahaha, fkin hilarious

  • This isn't just some joke you play on all the new Fuhrers is it?

  • It's funny, because in the novel Contagious, the new president thinks he's being hazed when he's told about the secret war against some alien race, and the people at the briefing keep telling him they mean every word :)

Scott Sigler's "Contagious". Sequel to the novel "Infected"

  • @TomerMMHA There's a "StargateSG-1" episode like that too. New President gets told about the Stargate on day one in office. Thinks it's a joke. William Devane playing a US President for the umpteenth time.

  • in your face Georing !

  • the production values are amazing!

  • yes mein furher

    - nice

    ya ya he shoot himself

    Delirious ;)

  • It's hard to get used to them doing sketches after watching Peep Show, although this and the SS officers sketch seem sort of like the comedy that Mark would write in his head, given his WWII obsession.

  • To be fair, Admiral Doenitz was appointed "President," not Fuhrer, thus he would be succeeding von Hindenburg.

  • No, he would be succeeding Hitler. Hitler's first (and indeed only) act as President was to combine the offices of President and Chancellor

  • Comment removed

  • @Sumabus What?

  • @Sumabus I know, but they did say sieg heil. Which isnt addressing Hitler.

  • and Heil is German for Hail, which is what they used.

  • @Sumabus Why would people greet each other by saying Mr Hitler? It was Heil Hitler which means hail.

  • @Sumabus You retard

  • IN YOUR FACE GÖRING!!!

  • heil me tho eh

  • HEIL DOENUTZ▐▐▐

  • does this show exist on dvd? i friggin love this show

  • It does, i have them!

  • This is superbly funny. Surrendering was pretty much Doenitz's only task.

  • "Heres General Eisenhours phone number, Heres the english for 'we give up' And heres our current millitary situation summed up in one rude word"

    Great!

  • HAHAHA so lustig

  • this is too funny.

  • dude, fucking golden!

'and here's an analysis of our military situation in one rude word'.

  • Its your mess now Doenitz! :3

  • ok!

  • "And our current military situation in one rude little word."

Is there any such humor as WWII humor? Especially English WWII humor?

  • @Nitocolus Not at all, I'm American, but have to admit; the English humor is the best, mostly in WWll.

  • @GoldenMilitary I'm American too, but I love the English wit.

  • @Nitocolus Not really. You are right. Nothing beats English WWII humor.

  • @Nitocolus I love this XD British humor is great, this and the scene in Blackadder goes forth where Baldrick asks how WW1 started :P

  • "own"? right...

  • in your face Göring=))))

  • Heil Dönitz! lol

  • Heil Dönitz...

    Thanks guys.

  • A sketch about Admiral Doenitz, that's so David Mitchell.

  • "This is our military situation summed up in one rude word..." Brilliant.

  • LOLZ THAT WAS AWESOME!

  • Go Grand Admiral Dönitz!

  • 'There's a growing housing shortage' that's nicely subtle.. David Mitchell loves WW2, the nazi's ARE comedy gold if you can do it this well.

  • "Here's the analysis of your military situation....in one rude word" hahaha

  • Yes, its a joke, not a history lesson. But you know, the reality of Doenitz' three week regime was so goofy and surreal, it almost puts this silly little skit to shame.... almost. If you're interested in finding out what the surreal reality was like, check out Brendan McNally's new novel GERMANIA, which is set during the last days of the Reich and especially the Flensburg period.

  • if only this happened in real life

doenitz was made the new fuhrer then Germany surrendered 20 days later

it would be great if he was actually the fuhrer for 2 minutes!

    lolfuckinlol!

  • they wouldn't have given me the job if it was going well...

  • heil me though eh

    lol!

  • Technically though it was Hans Krebs, Chief of the General Staff who was leading the defense of Berlin, who surrendered to the Soviet forces under the command of Vasily Chukiov, not Donitz. But Donitz as the Fuhrer or "acting" Fuhrer after Hitler's death probably was pressurized by his subordinates into making an official surrender. In fact the Nazis were desperate long before April 1945 to surrender to the Western Allies, because the thought of surrendering to the Soviets was just unthinkable.

  • you runined it me

  • No it wasn't. Hans Krebs killed himself May 1st, a week before the Germans surrendered. Read Wikipedia

  • Oh... right... that is, uh...

    Tongue-tied, Donitz?

  • The admiral was leader of germany following hitlers death..simple..

    but funny sketch!

if any of you folks havnt seen it..look up peep show!!

  • Heil Hitler...ermmm donitz LOLLL

  • its a joke not a history fuckin lesson !!!

  • too right and a bloody good joke too

  • mitchell's smile sells it

  • In your face Göring!

    -----

    Hiel me!?

  • It's a comedy sketch - I don't think it's supposed to be a paradigm of historical accuracy.

    Just a feeling, mind you....

  • Doenitz was one of the first Germans to see the war was lost.

  • its meant to be retarded . its called comedy. who cares if it inaccurate. only those who wish to defend the nazi party from some inaccurate comedy routine would say something stupid like what you just said.

  • vonVince,

Hi this is just a joke (and a funny one I think) not a historical programm (o:, there is trully very little to laugh when it comes to this topic in normal circumstances, so just laugh or not, but don´t disassable it, it´s not ment to be taken seriously. No offence ment! just a gentle nudging (o:

  • lol

  • It was gurbles or someone who was next in power

  • no it was Doenitz Hitler put as his succesor. And he was after Hitler shot himself, briefly.

  • Win!

  • LMAO genius. possibly my favourite comedy sketch EVER!

  • hahaha I love it when he pull out a colored "IDEAS FOR GERMANY" book

    LMAO

  • Heil Doenitz lol!

  • hahah XD

  • Dönitz wasn't actually made the "new Führer". He was made President of Germany while Goebbels would be the new Reichskanzler. But Hitler was the only Führer.

  • LOL .. I love these! Are there any more ww2 skits? The 'baddies' episode is the best but this is pretty funny too.

  • Is this from a British TV show? I live in the states and never heard of these guys. This was great. I love British humor. It is intelligent. Love them all from Peter Sellers, Monty Python, Are You Being Served and my Fav Benny Hill. The guy who wrote about not makin gthis a history lesson is right. This is great satire. I wish the States had some.

  • It's from That Mitchell And Webb Look

  • As you liked this try "SS officers that Mitchell and Webb look," if you have not already found it

  • It just goes to show - you can't be too careful.

  • god people who ave dea nikkers up dea bums pull dem owt b4 ur balls drop off. get a lyf!!! its comedy 4 a reson if u watchd this video i wuld tink u ad a grasp on wat comedy relly is. Good job m8 great film.

  • You need a grasp on the English language.

  • yep becuz its like the spanish comic book *mortadelo i filemon* you can know all about spanish language but if you dont know their slang & ways of life the jokes in the series are void/null idiomatic expressions are always the hardest thing when it comes to languages =P

  • Why does everyone talk about history its comedy its a joke, its not supposed to be like the real events otherwise it wouldnt be funny would it and considering david mitchell studied history he probably knows a bit about it anyway do you not think.

  • You can't even spell it right. Continue pulling yourself and imagine it's Hitler you are sucking!
