What a wonderful video showing something so positive occurring in Cabrini. Thank you for posting this ...back then it was still a community and a neighborhood; albeit a rough one. The 1980's was the demise of Cabrini because of crack cocaine, like every other city. If you have anything else like this please post it!

@figbli Actually it was powerful street gangs that for the most manged to keep crack out of Chicago - they wanted tight control over the drug trade, no competition from those seeking to cash in on the "new" product . Because of this, crack never reached epidemic proportions like in NYC and other major cities. Although I'm from Chicago, I remember visiting family/friends in NYC (LES) and even I was shocked at the number of crack houses and addicts, it was pitiful.

This is totally Cabrini during the 70's. See the fashion, the people their groove the buildings in the background! And yes--it is beautiful. This is the unity, fun, & good times I grew up knowing. And tho I didn't stay in Cabrini, it was established within my neighborhood. This was a time in history, however, that the black community overall was UNITED. We have to connect again with that.
