Hey guys, Will here...the duder in the video. I had no clue how off the camera was until I got home and was editing the video. Trust me, I felt like an idiot, but I needed to get the video out quick for all those who really wanted to see what was in it. It may have been another two days before I could get back to the store to re-shoot certain parts. I just had to learn from the experience and have someone watch the camcorder monitor from now on.
If you guys like D&D then you will definitely looove this webseries called Walking In Cirlces! Its an epic adventure about dragons n stuff! Check it out if you get some time! youtube/wictheseries
had to give this a thumbs down, Noblesquire said it all, for an unboxing it would be nice to see what was unboxed fully instead of just the lower half of it. for a professional job like this he could of done a re-take of all the parts he messed up fairly quickly (just re-record the objects and leave the sound clip alone, we cant see your lips moving anyway)
I dont like the DM screen. Actually, anyone can download the artwork and print it by themselves in the same material. The original thick carton one is more durable and it worths the price beacuse the high quality material.
Also, if it is a DM escential kit, why it doesn´t come with at least a d20? what if a newcomer player wants to begin playing and the person don´t know where to buy dices? there should be a set of dices.
Tokens are cool, also maps. Good product, but it could be better.
@OriginalNeomoon Yeah I actually agree. It would make more sense to release it along with the material dealing with character creation for Essentials.
Good review, thanks. I think i'll like the Deluxe Screen coming out not long after this box more, but I agree, from what I've seen it looks like a great screen for anyone to use. Not sure how I feel about the digest-size manuals in Essentials yet, but for softcover products they don't look cheaply made, which is good. I have all of the Essentials stuff pre-ordered. Excited to check it out!
@Zulithe The softcover is rather new. It takes some getting used to and I agree, I am not sure how I feel about it either. It is extremely well made for a softcover. I do have to say it is much easier to store than the large sized books, which may make it more appealing to the masses.
@Zulithe Yeah, I'm very interested in seeing the Deluxe Screen. I want to see what's so deluxe about it. As for the softcover books, the more I think about it the more I'm like the idea of having certain books in that format. For instance the Rules Compendium. I'll be reading through that all the time and a paperback book will be much easier to read than the huge hardcover in my opinion.
For starting DMs, this seems like a good value to start. For experienced DMs, however, I don't see much that would make me want to buy it (and I think the thinner screen, despite the updates, is less useful than the older, thicker one).
@AngelSwordAF I agree, it's a wonderful product for people wanting to get into DMing. I'm actually interested in it for the adventure module. From what I read in it, it looked like it would be extremely fun to play and DM. It definitely didn't look like your normal cookie cutter adventure. Another active DM was there when I was making the video and he plans on buying it for the adventure as well.
@J00lsy We are a Premiere store in Nashville, TN. We host a lot of Dungeons and Dragons events and are committed to growing the community not just in our area but worldwide. Look for more cool stuff coming from us soon.
@J00lsy I'm just a D&D gamer in the Nashville area. I kinda fell into the position of head DM at The Next Level Games. I just do what I can to keep the D&D community thriving I guess. But yeah, the store got "lucky" and received the product, I was called in to do an unboxing video. I may have been asked to do the video since I own all the 4th edition material published so far and keep up with WOTC things. Man I suddenly feel like I have no life.
im a noob and im thinking of buying this i have 2 people who play but is it possible to play solo ?

the video is great but just fyi the reason that the dm's guide is longer is because the extra 50 pages is a monster manual

For current Erata, go to WotC's website.
And just to let you know, the original DM Screen doesn't appear to have any errata. The Deluxe DM Screen does.
I would love to see more vids of D&D stuff.

I still miss the miniatures, tokens dont add much emphasis, tension, or amazement onto the appearance of a Beholder or Huge-Colossal Dragon.

@EldritchThing Very true, I use tokens because of the cost though

@stoolsboy Sadly, your right. The prices did take the piss.

1, that is what the one person who disliked this video rolled on a saving throw.

Great information, but you held everything half way off camera which was driving me crazy!

I'm actually very surprised that the DMK is a month later than the Heroes of the Fallen Lands and Rules Comp. It's just weird to stagger like that.
