  • Jacky look like Goku

  • I think I'm one of the only ones to pick up on the fact that you kept quiet every time Pai would do her irritating winning speech. LOL! I picked up on that right away and thought it was funny as hell!

  • I remember playing my first VF game on Dreamcast and it was quite awesome, but very difficult at the same time.

  • I have to disagree the graphics are still pretty good, same from what I remember, a classic, and might I add Lion was a BITCH to fight against I could hardly beat this slick mofo. This reminds me of another game you should review....FIGHTING VIPERS.

  • :41 XD

  • holy shit! I used to play this when I was little, wow!!

  • Didn't like this so much, it's kinda hard lol.

  • Above player 2's health bar, the words "PRESS SMARM BUMMON" can be seen in a few of the fights in this review.

Did the letter "T" get lost in translation?

  • What genre of music is this?

  • I had Virtua Fighter 1, 2 and Kids. Love them all very much!

  • Me and my friends spent a lot of time back then playing this like crazy. My favourite character will always be Akira Yuki, when well managed it could be a tremendous fighter and almost invencible. No one could beat me when I pick him. It's still has the most incredible martial arts moves I ever seen. Too bad I can't follow the series, I won't buy a PS or a X-box just because of it and a few more games.

  • I dunno how anyone could say Virtua Fighter 4 or 5 became easier compared to the early VF games, let alone "They haven't changed much".

  • Ive got VF, VF2 AND VF5 and hell were they worth it!

  • ill just be with my virtua and my virtua me

  • @Pimpczar2011 I dunno, but Tekken today is nothing more than juggle/air-combos, it's the other way around...

Virtua Fighter 4-5 have more weighty and realistic combos and actual tactics (each character has his/her own weight, the position of your character's legs have an impact on how the moves affect your opponent, some opponents are too heavy for certain combos/throws etc..).

Tekken is just "whoever gets the first hit in take away your entire lifebar with a silly aircombo".

  • @Pimpczar2011 Actually VF is still the most complex fighter out there, Tekken still remains rooted in floaty gameplay and even SF2 world warrior has it beat when it comes to been a serious fighting game, Tekken is just for Noobs but theres nothing wrong with that.

  • YOU FAIL! LOL

  • this , daytona, sega rally were the shit, that jeffery guy was my favourite :)

  • these games historical

  • てめぇのコメントかぶせるんじゃねーよボケ外人

  • @pandegratin douche

  • 1:09 what the hell is Takumi Fujiwara doing here...

  • Bloody Roar was a lot of fun, but it's taking cues more from Fighting Vipers, and not quite as tight IMO. But I'm sure Mark would have a blast with it, as well as Last Bronx and Tobal 2 and hell... I'd love to see what he makes of Kakuto Chojin for that matter. lol

  • Anyone think Mark should take a look at Bloody Roar?

  • This Is Still My Shit. I Always Play This Game To Death.

  • graphics looks descent enough.

  • my cousin and I played this game to death summer of 96. the only character i couldn't master was akira. he was beast in this game.

  • Does anyone else think the visuals in the Saturn version hold up better than the arcade? It's almost more like a 2D game that way, they did such an amazing job reducing the models to just what matters.

  • @pawnduit No way man, come on. The Saturn version is fantastic no doubt, but the arcade one with the detailed models and 3d backgrounds was the tits. Now that it's emulated on PC I really noticed the huge graphical difference.

  • @D31C1D3 Hey I dropped hundreds on the arcade, but what I really mean is that seeing the Saturn version it still looks about the same as in my memory. Whereas the arcade looked crazy amazing at the time, but any time I've seen it since those flat shaded polygons stick out harsh.

But then again I also seem have an automatic retrogression effect about anything on the Saturn, like getting transported back in time, I maybe see it through those same eyes.

    Oh and... SPOD!

  • no. the saturn version is worse in all aspects than the arcade one except for a higher res (which doesn't make it look better).

  • @nooblet911 Well hey I already regret saying anything... but you still missed my point. I never meant to suggest the Saturn version is technically superior to the arcade (though I do think it's adapted impeccably) just that it "holds up" better by virtue of, shall we say 'lower expectations'. Or something.

I'll contrast it to Last Bronx for arcade Model 2 which still looks almost contemporary, not so much VF2, just IMO

But I also didn't even believe VF2 could turn out OK on Saturn till I saw it.

  • yeah, I know what you're trying to say. the saturn version was impressive considering the limitations of the saturn. but the arcade version will always be superior.

  • Aaah, memories. I may be young, but I can still remember this game in the bowling alley arcade. I never played it though, the spaceship shooters were far too much fun.

  • This game is also on the ps2,along with the first virtua figther and virtua figther 4

  • This game was soooooooooooooo smooth and it just flowed. For some reason the ringouts on this one are way better than the newer ringouts. Idk bout you all but that just something that bugged the shit outta me.

  • These graphics are uhead of it's time look at the quality

  • does anybody know how to enter the initials at the end of the game? I never figured it out.

  • Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution is by far my favorite game in the series. It had everything the other games had, plus a million ways to taylor the experience to suit your style.

  • This game is CLASSIC! Man how I miss this game.

  • Pai: Ai!

    Sarah: Yah.

    Akira: Wuh!! Haaw!

    Kage: Unnnrgh!!

    Lion: Eeen!

    Wolf: Hauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!

    Lau: Ayeeeeeeeee!

    Shun: Haaap!

    Jeffrey: HUUUUURL!

  • do you need a memory card to play virtua fighter? all i see is a screen with a play, pause, ff,and rewind buttons.

  • I see polygon people!

  • Fuck yes. I still have this and a working sega saturn.

  • damn nothing has changed between the sf2 and sf4 as gameplay right?

  • i was spending days(and so much money)in arcades playing vf2.i still have my saturn with vf2 and i like it more than vf5

  • zxcvbnm

  • I'm faster than lightning

  • Shun FTW :O

  • I lol'd at Kage. His job being 'ninja'. I had no idea we still have ninjas as an occupation in modern times. But he does like mahjong! ^_^

  • I love the beginning where they took the graphics from the prequel and let it change to the "new" ones that you can see in this game

  • Tekken who?

  • I had this game on the PC way back in the day, it was freakin awesome, and the sound was excellent. I always liked Lion and Shun.

  • i still have it along with seaga rally championship

  • Virtua Bird Ass.

  • this is the 1st saturn game to run at 30 fps.Purchase an aftermarket vga adapter and hook it up to a computer monitor or HDTV with a vga input to increase the video quality. simply spectacular for an old skool game!

  • @tapedfromcable I believe the game actually ran at 60fps. Additionally, it ran in the Saturn's 720×575 High Resolution mode.

  • omg this brings so many lovely memories :')

  • love the music @ 03:00

  • Who ever thinks virtua fighter 2 is better the virtua fighter 5 then you have to be blind.

  • @wwe64 Nobody said it was prettier. But, really, the gameplay is somewhat different - and VF2 plays as good or better than 5.

  • bought this today along with a sega saturn. I put the disc in and it goes to playing the games music like it was a music cd or something. wont let me play at all....

  • Virtua Fighter 1, Virtua Fighter Remix, And Virtua Fighter 2 Are Cooler than the other virtua fighter games

  • @AlienX99999 Virtua Fighter 4 is the best

  • i just got this in a bundle with my new Saturn!! Woot!!

  • looks better than most N64 games

  • awesome music

  • wow i remember before finally buyin the saturn how i use to go into sears all the time and play this and wish to buy it

  • I remember when Virtua Fighter 2 was in all the arcades and movie theaters. A really good game. A little bit of dated graphics now, unless it is just because it is on the Saturn, but the game play is still there. And I loved the Drunken Fist and Mantis styles. They need to make a Virtua Fighter Vs Tekken game.

  • virtua shark wrestling?

    I gotta have it ^_^

  • This video really shows how the tea party is ruining America.

  • slow fighter´s xD ^^

  • I just bought this, Daytona, and Virtua Cop all in a Holiday 3 pack. Awesome, apparently is was a $185 value

  • @rejectofsoul24 I GOT THAT TOO LAST TIME

  • @rejectofsoul24 I had the same pack!

  • @rejectofsoul24 i have that pack too!!

  • @rejectofsoul24 i remember that sale. got it for christmas when i was young.. the good old days

  • I miss this game

  • yeah i loved the music too best music of all the virtua fighter series

  • i think this is better than virtua fighter 5

  • @youmadatme :-/

  • @youmadatme not jus vf 5 its the best virtua fighter game ever

  • @youmadatme This is better than virtua fighter ANYTHING...cept maybe 4. that was a boatload of fun to master.

  • the music in this game is INCREDIBLE!!

  • So much...Virtua....I was Virtua MIND BLOWN

  • Virtua-Kill The Shit Out Of The Narrator

    I'd play that game.

  • Ahh memories... I was about 6 years old, on a ferry to france at 4 am, freezing cold with my twin brother. everyone on the ship was up. my mum was having a cup of tea and gave us 2 pounds to go and play games, and there it was virtua fighter 2...

  • Lol Virtua Shark Wrestling

  • Sem dúvidas, VF foi uma revolução entre os jogos de luta. Um clássico!

  • one of the est fighting games i have ever played form the mechanics to characters and to soundtrack just 10/10

  • I want a Virtua Fighter 6 with online multiplayer for PlayStation 3 dammit!! I love playing Virtua Fighter 5, but the lack of online multiplayer kinda bites in this day and age of standard online connectivity.

  • this game has some of my favorite video game music ever.got this game bundled with daytona usa and virtua cop back when the saturn was dying out for $99 for christmas of 1996 i think.great console with great games.a timeless machine.

  • Ya know what we need a CGR review of? Virtua Fighter Kids! :)

  • lol this is one of my 24 arcade games in my basement i love this game soooo much brings back memories

  • @roydjunky7272 you mean actual arcade machines? LUCKY!

  • Virtua Virtua Fighter kind of happened with Shenmue (Game You). Only not with Virtua Fighter.

  • Great graphics for back then.

  • I bought my Saturn in 96'. During that time the systems marketability was waning and I was able to buy this game and also Daytona USA bundled with the system with two controllers for 199.99 USD. I still to this day think that I got a hell of a deal. Towards the middle of 97' I couldn't find anymore new Saturn games on the shelves at my local Electronics Boutique. I knew they were still being made but Elbo stopped stocking them.

  • @kdixon7783c I like that story. I think I remember that bundle. If you ask me this looks really good, look at that background. I really liked Saturn's feel.

  • @skeevystoner Have you ever played this console? Saturn had some great games but for some reason did poorly here in the states. I've since read that Saturn did much better in Europe. I'm currently looking for one on Ebay.

  • if you just push aaaa bbbb xxxx you will be sucked!

  • old man look like shujinko from MK

  • man i loved these games in the arcade. the GFX at the time would make any 90s gamers brains explode. They were so clean and fluent, the arcade was awesome back when you couldnt get 3D games in your home like the ones at the arcade, then came the psx, N64, saturn. I remember thinking "FINALLY" when I started up Mario 64 and saw the sick 3D graphics in my home for the first time. The good old days, nothing can compare to living through the video game world evolution. If you were only there ;)

  • @fuckcomments It's not because you got older that the evolution has stopped! I agree my fondest memories of gaming are Tetris on the Gameboy and Mario on N64, but on my PS3 Trine, Half Life the Orange Box and Mirror's Edge are truely groundbreaking efforts!

  • this game absolutely blew me away back in 1995, at the time the best fighting game on home consoles was street fighter 2 turbo and then to go and see this at the bowling alley was like nothing i ever seen, its like seeing a fighting game a hundred times better looking than tekken 6 etc

  • I used to play Shun ;D !

  • this didnt put a patch on tekken. tekken 3 was the best fighter at the time.

  • @emojo1990 how can you even compare tekken 3 to virtua fighter 2? virtua fighter 2 was released back in 1995 and tekken 3 was released in 1998. games move on very quickly, look at virtua fighter 1 compared to virtua fighter 2 and that was 1 years difference!

  • @emojo1990 thats not really a fair comparison, seeing as how tekken 3 came out 3 years after virtua fighter 2.

try comparing it to the original tekken from 1995 and im sure your opinion on this game would be completely different

  • @GaBB0256 sorry i didnt make my point very clear. i was comparing it to the whole franchise of virtua fighter. virtua fighter is more of a simulation whereas tekken is a fast paced beatem up. so u can consider virtua fighter to be an arcade game because it is soooooo slow.

  • @emojo1990 oh ok i see your point. tbh i do prefer tekken as a whole to virtua fighter, but like i said, virtua fighter is probably better than tekken 1

  • @GaBB0256 yeah tekken 1 was slow because they didnt use all the ram.

  • @emojo1990 yeah tekken 3s the best one

  • You shouldn't waste your time playing this on the Saturn, because you should just be getting Fighters Megamix, which is far superior.

  • ah this good old game. only reason i bought vf 5 for ps3 is because of this game. not as much fun as it was back in the day.

  • It's actually easier to find Virtua Fighter 2 than it is to find VF or Remix.

  • its weired looking at 3d from this time. it was unheared of to me..kinda... i was still into the super at this point then the 64 which looked alot better. so this is defenetly pre colonial 3d.

  • for the hottest arcade game of the time to exist in a 98% perfect form on a home console and it still couldnt rescue it from failure!!, the saturn truely is the No.1 underrated console .

  • I have both Sega Saturn and Virtual Fighter 1 & 2 :D

  • @JcLazy1 nice i'm getting a saturn but i already have virtua fighter for the 32x so i'm just getting virtua fighter 2 on the saturn

  • I think the music from this game far surpasses that of VF5. Whatever happened...?

  • I personally feel that these graphics are way beyond the polygon graphics of virtua fighter 1 and remix

  • @tmsods ..and better than Tekken, Tekken 2, Battle Arena toshinden, Soul Calibur, and the rest of the PS1 fighters.

  • @zodiackiller12 battle arena toshinden is alright....prefere that over tekken anyway

  • I missed out on this era of 3D gaming; I regret that decision now!

  • po minha infancia foi esse jogo

  • Virtua Dreamcast would be awesome as a sequel to Dreamcast

  • Virtua Shark Wrestling FTW!

  • lau chan=tao pai pai

  • When Genesis doesn't, Saturn does its job. Virtua Fighter 2 is awesome.

  • Can you do a Super Smash Brothers Review?

  • Please review Fighters Megamix for Sega Saturn. It's Fighting Vipers & Virtua Fighter 2 combined with some Sega AM2 characters thrown in as unlockable content.

  • How to run it on Windows 7? Compatibility options didnt help

  • looks like half life graphics

  • this is the earliest game i remember playing. my uncle had a saturn when i was like 4, this and the daytona racing game. that and the 6-pak and virtual bart for genesis.

  • 3:23 How could you mark!?

You made poor Pai cry :(

  • i was just thinking Pai is Chinese right? i always wondered why she speaks in Japanese but the girls in Doa all speak Japanese too don't they.

  • @djklink20009 to myself.. due to the game's Japanese origin, she is voiced by an actress speaking Japanese

  • Virtua Shark Wrestling-- I'd play that.

  • you can always tell the difference between smart-sophisticated and shallow-casual gamers.

Just give 'em VF and Tekken, see which one they choose...you know what I mean

  • still got my saturn @my grandparents's place, this was my first game along with virtua cop and daytona 500 best times ever

  • i had this game for PC, and i still have.

  • that game is close to PS1 graphics, its like the 1º virtua but with better graphics

  • my sega saturn died on january 22nd, 2007. cause of death... my mom and sister threw it out. when i visit to peru this summer, i want to buy a new sega saturn, virtua cop 2, mortal kombat 2, and resident evil. i already have nights into dreams, virtua fighter 2, virtua cop, and daytona usa. why will i buy it in peru? it's cheaper.

  • lau chan looks like general tao from dragon ball

  • @tupac4life84 lol i was thinking the same

  • yes !!! I love the drunk guy Shun lol. This was the first 3-d fighter I played on a console and I think they got a lot of things right :)

  • can't believe how much of a visual improvement was made between the original and this version, considering there was only a year between them.

  • Hey! Have you played virtua fighter kids Mark?

  • @A1ienDrummer Trust me mark isn't going to answer. He doesn't even run this account. He only does the reviews. Lol.

  • This game won game of the year 1996 by GAME PLAYERS MAG! LONG LIVE GAMEPLAYERS!!!! (Remember Bill Donahue???)

  • its neat to see the roots of this game

  • Sarah was my all time fave! I used to play this all the time when I was a kid and I still find this game pretty enjoyable.

  • shuns my favourite fighting character of all time!

  • you must own one of the early copies because mine which is a late copy has better sound, graphics and it has several other features

  • I remember they made a big deal about the Bridge not being in Shuns stage for the Sega Saturn version then in all the sequels they removed the Bridge from Shuns level even in the Arcade go figure ? =P

  • Its obvious you can't compare old skool polygons to today but I think the game looks really good and still holds up today as when you compare other games from the same era they look like total shit next to this game. This game was amazing in its day in the Arcades and then when it came home to the Sega Saturn it was an amazing experience. Also the controls are super responsive which took this game head and shoulders above others available at the time.

  • ahhh good times =D

  • this game still looks great.

  • Sega needs to release a Virtual fighter mega collection for the xbox and PS3..that would be great.

Include every single virtual fighter game every made.

  • @tom11zz884

why the feck can't people get the name of this game right? It's Virtua Fighter, a contraction of virtual persumably because you can't copyright dictionary words. You wouldn't mis-spell Halo with an extra 'l', it'd change the entire meaning of the word.

  • @tom11zz884

I wanna see Sega make an All-Star fighting game. Have Kazuma from Yakuza, Virtua Fighter characters, Bayonetta, and of course some Sonic characters.

  • @tom11zz884 virtua fighter

  • @tom11zz884 And wii. Don't forget about wii :P

  • @tom11zz884 Your comment is the first ever on Youtube that mentions both consoles in the same sentence without ending in a fanboy rant about one or the other.

  • @tom11zz884 exept include remix instead of 1

  • @tom11zz884 CUM SLURPEE!

  • The best Virtual Fighter game in the series..yes, it was even better than 3, and 4.

Thisgame had the perfect balance, which is kinda hard to explain, but the latter virtual fighter games just couldn't seem to recapture,

  • Personally I think it looks FANTASTIC to this day.

  • this was my first game i had!

  • LMAO!!!! @ virtua shark wrestling. N.E. ways good review. Thank GOD for Yu Sazuki and, the AM-2 staff for creating the first 3-D fighter EVER!!!!

  • LOL.... Crane

  • 2:25 you can actually see the hat flying off in this match, and you can even see it on the ground. Wow, they really put some thought into the graphics. This game looks awesome, my only complaint about it is the sou
