  • how's the instrumental's name???

  • Whatever your religion (I'm Christian!) this song is fun to listen to and scare your friends with. :) HAPPY LISTENINGS! :)

  • Just remember that Jesus was Jewish and he spun the dreidel.

  • The Graffiti is Jules Brooks Hebrew Name. Yashua as in Joshua. He is just tagging. It has nothing to do with Jews for Jesus or anything else.

  • Looks like they had a "latke" fun making this!

  • Этта чума!!))))))))))))

  • Best Chanuka song I've ever heard...Thanks, Erran, for this cosmic version!

  • this is not cool Holy Israel Nation rejects Christianity just like we rejected the Greeks just like we reject The Muslims! Am Yisrael Chai nanachnachmanachmanmeuman ;)

  • i love it!

  • A large pink Hebrew word in 1:05. What does it means? LOL.

  • Pedo Pedo Pedo, Made it out the play....?

  • @Dann29995 Dreidel, Dreidel, I made it out of clay...

  • buenicimo

  • @122boxer , Sacha and Erran are brothers, Erran makes a lot of the music for Sacha's movies.

  • @122boxer , Sacha and Erran are brothers

  • Is he related to Sacha Baron Cohen

  • @122boxer ya there mother and son

  • Rick Reed I grew up in a Black neighborhood and had to walk a great distance to the closest white elementary school that was mostly populated by all the Jewish Kids in THAT neighborhood that attended Baron Hirsch Synagogue right next door. I LOVE EVERYBODY because of it...lived the best of all worlds in Memphis, TN.

  • Who of them is Erran?

  • meraviglioso.

  • kakav treš od spota! hahaha

  • Dreidl, dreidl, dreidl, I made you out of clay and when you're dry and ready - oh dreidl I shall play. Very clever and catchy. Iddish music can be so joyful. It is very much the Jewish "blues."

  • CAN someone post YIDISH lyrics starting with "hanuka.. hanuka.." thanks!

  • whats the original song again??...

  • wonderful!

  • This song is Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it more and more every time i hear it!

  • if anyone is wondering what the black person is saying its: Chanukah is a very beautiful holiday, all the children play

  • How did the black guy learn how 2 speak yiddish??

  • Clip is hilarious and the song, for some reason, IS catchy, against my will...

The black dude sounds like a pussy though, he jewish too ?

Just so I don't get insulted gratuitously, my question is:

that black dude, is he jewish or pretending ?

  • @yoe91 just wondering: is it *really* that surprising or difficult for non-jewish people to appreciate or enjoy jewish culture? he could be a convert. who knows.

  • @yoe91 Y-Love "is an orthodox jewish rapper" according to l a s t f m

    :D

  • Bravo, good performance!!

  • yeshua actually means "salvation" in Hebrew

    Good vid though..

  • Actually the Yiddish rap is just a variation of the song "Chanukah oy Chanukah." Very clever arrangement of this song. Love the Zydeco influenced klezmer.

  • Yep, it still rocks justgas hard as I remember. Bad as Dreidel song.

  • Freeze video at :33 and look to the right of the pink graffiti. It says Yeshua (Salvation) in black paint.

  • 'Yeshua' is simply the Hebrew version of the common name 'Joshua'. And that spectacular rap was in Yiddish. Erran Barron Cohen is the brother of Sacha Baron Cohen, (which you probably realised). Happy Hanukkah everyone! חנוכה שמח

  • yes it does say yeshua!

    im israeli

    ישו = ישוע = ישועה

  • forgive me if im wrong, but doesn't the pink grafitee with the black shadow translate as Yeshua a.k.a Jesus?

  • I was wondering the same thing.

  • We must be right then. It also means that you can learn Hebrew on the internet!

  • I just checked the Hebrew spelling of "Yeshua" on google and its fairly much identical.

  • jidish CheeseBubbles jidish ;-)

  • was that german? sounded like it to me.

    jetzt

    kinder

  • He was saying something in Yiddish - so basically German but not threatening sounding.

  • To truly understand whats going you should either be Jewish or have converted from Judaism

  • only makes sense when you actually know the dreidel song, i think. At least, i know it from South Park :p hehe

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    LOL

    AND I REALLY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks Erran.

  • Sasha Cohen's brother(BORAT/ALI G fame), a very talented musician...very cool.

will share whnei teach about judaism in my world hisory class (if not before!)

  • 0:52 lol the guy davening to the beat in the background

  • The name in the wall isn't Yeshua; the vowel mark after the yud (Y) is the equivalent of an O, not an E. More likely Jules Brooks is tagging the building with his own Hebrew name which I would guess is Joshua, since a lot of people give kids Hebrew and English names that begin with the same letter.

  • Comment removed

  • That's no cholam, that's the dot marking it a shin not a sin. Otherwise, no vowel marks whatsoever. It's directly over the right "head" of the shin, not to it's right, which it would be were it a cholam.

OTOH, I've run across one or two Jews named Yshua without the hei.

  • You could be right. It goes by pretty fast ,and I didn't bother to pause the video.

I've seen the allegation that the graffito says "Jesus" before, but I find it hard to believe that Y-Love and Erran Baron Cohen would participate in that. A semi-literate attempt to tag the wall in Hebrew seems was more likely to me. It looks to me like he was trying to transliterate "Joshua" as opposed to writing "Yehoshua" in Hebrew. A belated Shanah Tovah to you.

  • repeat: nice song.

but can anyone explain the "yeshua" part please?

is he missianic or just plain confused...?!

  • @HassidicLife -the other guy singing is Jules Brooks, its his Hebrew name (joshua)

  • lol

  • I think its funny that people get all controversial about this because it has much a lot Jewish references but Christmas movies there just like pft, whateva.

  • i know! seriously, saying a jewish word is like, "offensive"

  • My 2 little kids have watched this about 10 times this morning. Thanks for making our Chanukah rock just a little bit harder this year!!!

  • nice song.

but can anyone explain the "yeshua" part please?

is he missianic or just plain confused...?!

  • I'm confused now as well. Might be a reference to xmas...?

  • makes sense, good thought.

but in that case, he just killed the whole beauty.

    its like bittersweet chocolate...

  • haha this song's dope.

  • yo i stay rollin that hot fire ggimul. come test me

  • FINALLY some good Hanukkah music!! WHOO HOO! Go Erran! And yes he is Sasha's brother. He also did all the music for Borat including Oh Khasicstan

  • he is sacha cohen brother that played as borat

    i love the beat

  • U guys need to shut the eff up and enjoy the music. Stop whining!

  • shut your dumb ass up. you have no idea what you're talking about

  • rectalchrist, who's the racist here, your post makes it clear that you are.

  • fuck off, anti-semitic freak

  • the comment below was supposed to be a reply to the previous anti-semitic comment

  • This is fucking amazing! Are there any other videos of the rest of the songs on that album? I can't seem to find the others on YouTube. Ideas, anyone?

  • Is this for real jews or are they just poking fun? I cant figure it out.... Their beards look totally fake as well. I really cant tell and its drivin me nuts!

  • This is for real, AhBabnYnah. He's Jewish. He has a whole album of Hanukkah songs that he just came out with. It's pretty freaking sweet.

  • ali g's brother?? awesome...just saw this guy on conan.

  • ME 2 oh shit, all of dem were dressed lik jews. BY THE WAY is this kosher?

  • y-love is in it, he is a hasidim...so? i guess, the fake orthodox garb? maybe not, but the lyrics are

  • he's not a real Chassid

    He's Borat's (Sascha Baron-Cohen)brother

  • yea i know, but y-love is. y-love is the man

  • sascha baron cohen is an observant jew. you can look that up on his wikipedia

  • @pianokid100 get out! Have you seen Bruno?

  • @haydthebear he doesnt actually have gay sex . he is just portraying a fictional gay character he invented

  • @pianokid100 I still think his morals are a bit skewed.

  • @haydthebear

If everyone had the same morals, life would be extremely boring and useless.

  • @pianokid100

He is NOT an observant Jew , no matter what Wikipedia says...

Also this video is a Jews for Jesus production. Notice the graffiti in the background!

  • @joshwander i agree he is not an orthodox observant jew, but he is certainly not reformed. and this is definitely not a jews for jesus production...

  • @pianokid100 обрезанный еврей?

  • this is soooooo mot funny like my friend said

  • Anyone have the lyrics of Y-love doing his yiddish rap spiel? Id love to read along to see what he's saying.

  • "khonike. khonike a yontef a sheyner

a likhtiker, a freylikher nishtu kayn azeyner

ale nekht in dreydlekh shpiln ale kinderlekh." A remake in rap /with changed words/ of a Yiddish Hanukah song from early century.

  • Thanks for posting the Yiddish lyrics! It seems like there is one more Yiddish rap line in the song. Wondering if you know what it is. Thanks!

  • "peyselakh gezetzn mikh, shemen nokh di hendelakh" I hope it helps. Of course, these are slightly altered lyrics from an old song. A git yontef v'hag samea'h

  • Wonderful, thank you!

Here is my attempt at translation:

"Chanukah, Chanuaka, such a beautiful holiday,

Bright, happy, absent of nobody . . .(?)

All night darling children spinning dreidels . . ."

Does the last line have something to do with Pesach?

    Hag samea'h!

  • Seems to have baffled you Frenchies

  • Yo! Yiddish Raps

  • haha

  • hahahahahahaha

  • c'est un sketche de dieudonné ?
