Dude. Nice car, very clean. Love the diesel. good work. What did you do for the PMD issue with the 6.5? what about the trans, did you swap that with the motor? Awesome.
Oh my goodness...it's just so badass! Why don't I think of stuff like this? The sound is just so wrong coming from a Camaro, and that why I love it. great work man!
Did you make many mods to improve the reliability of the engine? I think I read (this was a while ago) that 6.5 liter diesels have a tendency to overheat.
I have a 96 camaro that was a race car. full cage/etc... It's been without a drivetrain for awhile. I've been tossing around the idea of a duramax in there. Two thumbs way up on your car.
I gotta say, that i never would have thought to put a diesel in a car like a camaro, but it seems soo..... Right? Idk nice work man, lookin forward to seein vids of it on road
Finally someone does something differant with one of these fourth gens... Awesome! I too love the 6.5L, because I love differant motors (even though I swore by the SBC and now the LS).
first one ive ever seen like this. trully a fun car to drive im sure. i hope you reach all goals you try for with this one. theres lots of potential for power and tuning.
I'm a 6.5 TD fan myself and I was wondering where a guy can get differnt pistons and bigger turbo for it. I got bigger injectors and a suped up computer but that all I have for it so far.
This is a surefire way to be the most popular guy at the trailer park, no mullet required.
No but seriously... this is sweet. I've converted diesel engines to run on gas (350 olds) , but never saw someone convert a gas powered sports car to a diesel engine. Too bad it's not 4wd. You could make people crap their pants at a truck pull.
Fuckin sweet!!! The only shitty part is all them "think they know lots" retards are going to think your ls1 350 has one really bad rod bearing and attempt to tell you that but then you'll just leave em in a black cloud lol
hey i'm the guy from missouri that came and bought the radiator out of your donor truck my truck runs great 93 chevy 2wd half ton 6.2 turbo, geardrive, zoom clutch, highflow downpipe, 5 inch stack and it hits 15 lbs of boost wich is on the dangerous side but thats the side i like to live on i didn't have the right coolent jug for that radiator so i bought a new one but it was worth the trip the see your car
OK, this is the baddest thing on youtube or I have ever seen. This is fucking cool. I want to do this. How hard was it to mount? Do you need custom mounts? Any firewall mods? Please advise.
I have a '93 K2500 6.5 diesel w/270,000 and I love it. I ran a 5" exhaust out to the stock location and it sounds awesome I also put a an SS diesel intake on it. Anyway it's good to see someone else who respects the 6.5 great work on the car.
you sir, are the man! can you get a vid of it being driven from the inside? like coasting around, heavy acceleration from a stop sign, etc :) :) :) great job again dude!
i love gas motors. I have experience with LSx series as well. I chose Diesel for the fuel mileage, torque, ability to use ALTernative fuels like Biodiesel, SVO,WVO and because I am in lovewith the 6.5 Diesel among many other reasons. Care to share what you are basing your opinion on?
@SakoTGrimes Actually GM states that the 5.7 gasolibe engine is more reliable and can get more HP than their 6.5 engine. but the 6.5 does great gas mileage and that's what it was biult for, not to haul or tow, just be a diesel-sipping daily cruiser, just unreliable if you abused it
@SakoTGrimes Actually GM states that the 5.7 gasoline engine is more reliable and can get more HP than their 6.5 engine. but the 6.5 does great gas mileage and that's what it was built for, not to haul or tow, just be a diesel-sipping daily cruiser, just unreliable if you abused it

@dennisred69 It's also about being different. For instance, I'm contemplating putting my STS Universal turbo kit on a new Hyundai Santa Fe (once I conjure up the funds or someone donates it to me).. But still, I think the Camaro TDI setup is very creative and will provide the vehicle with many other performance mod ideas.
Nice video...I have one question???? Why would you put a 6.5 diesel in your Camero instead of a Dmax??? Im not knocking your car one bit I think it's cool but why not. or at least a 12v 4bt Cummins.
The 6.5 is a very cost effective V-8 diesel (few electronics) and they get really good fuel mileage. They can be made to put out a lot of power, just have to get the right parts together, and the owner of this Camaro is well on his way to that.
Thanks! The turbocharger is mounted in the rear of the car, where the fuel tank used to be. Yeah the 6.5 trucks had a downpipe that looks like they smashed it with a BFH. lol
What all do you have done to the 6.5? Im looking into getting a 6.5 and I just wanting to get an idea of stuff that I can do to it to make it run better and have more power.
Nice work! This week I started putting together a 93 mechanical injected GM 6.5 for my boat.. The old Perkins was 47 hp new, pretty tired now. I can appreciate the work you did. That plumbing for the intercooler is a handfull. I may be adding a water cooled intercooler on mine. The turbo needs to be moved to the back of my engine for clearance. Lots of hand work. Lots of eBay parts. I can't wait to hear that cackle and turbo whine coming out of my old boat! You did a neat project!
I think you will be happy with the added power of the 6.5 There is a company called Peninsular Diesel that works with alot of Marine applications with the 6.5 Diesel I have dealt with them and had a good experience. Great People and very knowledgable.
ive got a few crazy ideas of my own but im gona build them before i share them, that way i know they work. lol how much boost do u think a 4cyl will handle? im thinkn like 45 ish maybe more before the head goes through the hood or a rod pokes its head through the block.
in general the boost an engine is able to hold is based on many factors. A couple being compression ratio, tuning, meth injection or not, engine fasteners, etc.
wow, great job man. did u do all the interior work your self? and how much hp does it have??
