My guess is that this game originally in another country like japan had nothing to do with pokemon but they were planning on making it pokemon for the USA. They most likely were half way done changing it and tested it out but stopped after seeing how dumb it was. It was the same for supper Mario 2

Many people bought psx games there and the big stores that sold the original ones lost their clients. Atleast the graphics and physics are decent. But the level design and music (besides the title screen) suck. Oh, and some of the sound effects are wierd, lizards say "Uh oh", dragons say "Bleagh", and Pikachu must be obese if he sounds like a cartoon bang whenever he hits the ground.

Umm... This game looks dumb. Sorry to say it, but it doesn't even make sense. I mean, while I admit I'm a huge fan of Porygon, why are a bunch of them floating around... In the forest!? That's not even their natural habitat, they're supposed to live in cyberspace (some guy created them I think, and there was an infamous episode about it that gave kids in Japan seizures because of it's hyper beam or something.) Untrue, Pocket Monsters is actually Pokemon's original name, and Pokemon is an abbreviation/nickname of it. Even though pocket monsters is the original name in japan, most people in Japan call it Pokemon now too, except on the video game title screens, movie intros, cartoon openings etc, it still says Pocket Monsters.

This game gave the title Pocket Monsters because that IS Pokemon's original title, it has nothing to do with it being a pirated game.

Very interesting... based on this footage, this game throws Pikachu into a mashed up world of two relatively obscure games: Magical Taruruuto-kun (Japanese Mega Drive game) and SD Valis (Syd of Valis, also a Genesis/Mega Drive game). There's some original bits mixed in as well... for better or worse... but I don't think it's for the better.

I have a pirated Game Boy Pokemon game that is an edited Smurfs game I believe. It's about equally as strange due to the English dialogue.
