I've not driven a AUTO yet I climbed into a mates new Rig yesterday and it had no stick???? I said to him ! Where's the Stick and he laughed at me then I said O'Bloody Auto hey,,, it's only the First one I've ever seen... But thats ok... Quick question:

I noticed in the T404 and 104 you used first gear (low-range) on take off. Do you normally use 1st in suburban/industrial areas?

Not meaning to sound rude, I've just always found 2nd to be more "efficient" in those types of environments.

@mickthegodofallevil you can apply with the coverning body of the area that you are looking to move to and possibly get an exemption of haveing to have a rigid then go for Heavy Combinanation.

over here in New Zealand i've been in most built trucks. Okay Kenworths have the grunt and the bad ass looks, 630hp cummins plows up the hills piece of piss and has the nice jacobs to go with it. Volvo dont have the as much power put are far more comfortable and well bulit. japanese trucks are allrounders, strong, relaiable & cheap. 530hp isuszu shits all over lower horepower european gear. We have Stealings with mercs in then now and they don't perform very well at all for an american truck.

The volvo trucks seems to me floats alot better then the rest. It´s more quiet and much nicer inside and i don´t here any squiks and rattles(have no idea how those two words spells but i sure you understand). The other ones looks like they are from the 70´s.

Hey mozzman,

The Kenworths have Cummins engines - they are Signatures, not the 903! Not too sure what the old Freightliner has - could be an N14 Cummins while the Volvo has their own D16C!

The Volvo is a FH16 - possibly rated at 550hp or 610hp... McColl's is a mixed fleet - North American (Freightliner, Kenworth) and Europeans (Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, some Scanias but not many)!

this is the most efficent way to drive when you go through the gears.

The Volvo gearbox is not like a roadranger. It will be either a 3 over 3, or 4 over 4 with a splitter in each gear, so either 12spd or 16spd. Many trucks here in the UK have this pattern. It is most typical and synchromesh too, so generally need the clutch for changes, definitely for the splitter.

Kenworth T404 has a 13 Speed, Freightliner has a 13 Speed, Volvo has a 14 Speed, Kenworth K104 has an 18 Speed and the Kenworth T350 has an 18 Speed auto shift.
