  • this thing does better than the guy playing on the mariambas

  • wtf?

  • hah, this is fun.

  • its for the 5100c If I remember way back. Its a self test and is built into the scanner, not a driver thing. Hold in scan button, turn on power, and off it goes.... I remember hearing this start and then.... grind grind crunch lol. Ahhh bad times supporting scanjet back in the day :(

  • Весело :)

  • This scanner sound busted... But in a good way :) Nicely done.

  • lol I work at HP,

if you know the drivers/program for this, gimme :D I have there like 20 scanjets :D

  • @Tuho89

    You planning on an orchestra?

  • wrote a new driver to circumvent limitations?

  • how do u do thatÉ

  • пацтолом, гыгыгы

  • Супер!!! Мне и в голову не могло бы прийти чтобы так сделать !!

  • I so wanna do this with our mill's stepper motors...

  • ААаААаАааААА!! кайф!

  • Invent xD

  • awesome XD

  • Omg how did you program it to do that?

  • Nice for a horror movie, where embedded technology wants to kill all humans and of course take over the world. This would be nice in the beginning. Where someone notices his Scanjet turns out to have a mind of its own..............

  • i would be scared shit if my printer did that

  • It's a ScanJet 4p or 4c (I forget which I wound up shooting the video with). It's an easter egg the HP guys planted in the firmware. No big deal, just has to be tapped via the proper commands.

Never expected such an avalanche over this, tho. Almost forgotten about it. ;)

  • Yet interesting enough to warrant a comment from you... Funny how that happens.

  • This, oddly, makes me happy.

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • Fur Elise

  • its mozart's für elise, but your right, it rocks!

  • mozarts!!!???

    you're kidding!

    that's beethoven!

  • pff yeah right its ACDC

  • haha.

  • FAG

  • Its an HP ScanJet 5P

just hit the power while pressing the the scan button

  • Is it an easteregg? How do you activate it, i've got one of those old SCSI HP models laying around.

  • You turn the device on with the scan button depressed. I'm not sure which models this works on though.

  • oh my god.. it's very cool and very strange

  • EASTER EGG ! again cool!

  • What a pity Plusteks can't sing too :/

  • ZOMFG!!! AWESOME!!!

  • omfg! :D

  • lol cool, I expected lots of non-musical noises.

  • OMFSM AVESOME!!!!

  • wonders of stepper motors

  • p a pure can of AWESOMENESS

  • Seriously the best video ever made.

  • THIS IS CAKETOWN!

  • Is this kind of easter egg on every scanner model or just a few?

  • they must have got into the programming of the scanner and changed how it scans stuff you could propably get it to do anything from a sweet lullaby to the sounds of dragonforce

  • ya. its not that hard, really. my gf and i totally reformated our old ass scanner, so now when we do a scan, after it scans the actual thing, we flys across the little board singing who let the dogs out. scared the piss out of her sister when she first saw it

  • this is madness [3]

  • this is madness [2]

  • this is madness

  • this is sparta!

  • this is sparta! [2]

  • Will you please stop kicking people into the pit of Death, I mean really.

  • LOL :-D

  • this is madness [0]

  • ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!11111oneonoeone that's so funny xD

  • omg amazing :D

  • nicely done...

  • my scanner can play both fur elise and ode to joy

  • GREEAAAT!!

  • put a few more of these together and you could have an orchestra :D

  • pssh! dobre

  • that would be the shit of mine could do that

  • Hahahahaha, you absolute idiot!

  • I am amazed how very very smart people waste their time making things like this. Shouldn't they be... rocket scientists or something and not making musical scanners?? ;) Seems like a lot of time went into it.

    Funny video tho. I like.

  • sorry to tell you hp made the prorgraming its an easter egg that comes with the scanner

  • grate! how can I do to find the easer egg? thanks

  • the easter egg is only on the scanjet and to play music you either need a program-i think- or you need to unplug your scanner, hold scan, and when you reconnect to power cord it should start playing one or the other.

  • Ok, I' ll try. Thanks

  • no problemo

  • Best clip on the internet.

  • that's a pretty tall order

  • What model is this? Scanjet 5xxx?

  • Simply beautiful.

  • Für Elise...Scanner Edition!

  • fur' escanner lol

  • y como se hace???

  • Can this be done on HP all in one devices?

  • ai que coño! eso mola!

  • :(

Tell me how to do it...

    a link or something...

  • Works on my 5p SCSI also

  • HOW?

  • Set SCSI ID to 0, hold down Scan button, turn scanner on

  • sweeeeeeeet

  • Tényleg lehet ilyet? :)

  • yo digo ke esto es para dawns

  • its an easteregg ;)

works on every hp scanner :P

  • HOW???

  • It works on magic. No other explanation. Well, fine, magical stepper motors XD.

  • What is amazing is that it is all done without a speaker!

Only sound is made from the special motor that moves the arm!

  • sweeet how dyou dooo thata

  • How it beams?

  • IMPRESIONANTE!

  • Probably some easter egg the engineers built in, much like the H-P or Tektronics (I forget which) digital storage scopes that had a hidden feature that let you play Tetris.

  • It's not fake, it's a very real documented easter egg in the software...

  • Imagine at the office, every time you have to scan something... LOL

  • Imagine having to work in an office. Ha, you just made me laugh :D

  • now THATS entertainment :) Keep up the good work!!

  • This is the REAL reason scanners were invented.

  • i thought that was impossible

  • Dude u HAVE A TALLENT! omg that Rocks!

  • he doesnt have any talent. All you do is hold a button when you turn the scanner on, it does it it's self

  • It's called sarcasm, moron.

  • is it tho. how can you tell?

  • How do you know he doesn't have any talent?

  • That's simply amazing men. You need to be a very good programmer. sadistic.

  • How'd you do that, did you just layer the sound over the actual sound from the machine?

  • It a hack done by HP engineers. This the motor that is driven at differant speeds that make the differant tones. I had one one of those scanners plus the programma to let it play fur elise.

  • WHAT THE HELL!!!

  • lol wie geil

  • That's what we call multi-functional :)

  • Haha, cool.

  • could someone tell how it is done? sounds very interesting to do it @ home

  • Turn the scanner dial (on the bottom) to zero then turn the scanner on while pressing the scan button et voilá.

  • Dude you got to be sh1tting me.

  • I want one! lol

  • I'd love to have one of those...

Two honors for this easter egg:

    #1 - Best - Hardware (All Time)

    #1 - Best (All Time)

    ah re

  • juasjuasjuas!

  • no way -- don't belive it. different notes are pitch-shifted. I've only heard two distinct tones from my scanjet, and the action of the scanner in the video doesn't match the music

  • yeah, but you didn't reporgram it did you though! This has been on the net for years before youtube and it showed you how exactly it was done.

  • OMFG - Excellent!
