obama wants the population to decrease dramatically by breaking down our immune system and to make us all dependent on this free health care so that we are no longer people, we are government feeding parasites dependent on the government.
I'm thankful we have those of DeMint in the U.S. Senate. Someone in touch with reality is refreshing. Just today jobs numbers released show we're bleeding more and more jobs. Look around Libs--do you really like what your seeing under Obama's leadership? Even in China they now understand Business and it's importance--they are supporting their industry and here we have Pig snout Waxman dragging business leaders in front of his communist tribunal to berate them!!
From the Census Bureau 2010, I received in the mail the following: A letter telling me I was going to receive the 2010; a postcard asking if I need help with the 2010; the actual 2010 form itself; two additional postcards reminding me to return my 2010 by April 1. This is such an obvious waste of money it is staggering. How can you expect me to trust the Fed Gov to take over managing the Budget on Health Care Reform? Answer: I can't trust the Gov with my piggy bank much less the HC Budget.
Today, March 21, 2010, is a sad day for Mr. Demented and his girlfriend, Miss Graham. Their tea baggers failed to properly execute their mission. Now, the United States of America will be like many third world countries that provide health care to its citizens. Oh, woe.
The Gov. already took over the Banking system and various motor companies, what makes the health care system any different? It doesnt, we cant expect to enjoy the things we take for granted without sacrificing the cost that come with them, especially with our lives. The gov. tries really hard mixing Socialist policies with our Capitalist system to date. The government is trying to take over health care but Americans wont make it easy and will fight for freedom rather than security. Point made.
Glenn Beck raped and murdered a little girl. He is collecting a large check to put on an act as an ultra-right wing shill. He works in hyperbole to stir up fear in the right wing base.
Oh, and so you all know, this Senator DeMitt voted against the Franken amendment. He's pro rape. He thinks it right to keep a women from taking her rapest to court so long as she works for a taxpayer-endowed contractor like Halliburton/KBR. Look it up! AND there is talk that the stimulus package is working and that even the cash for clunkers boosted the economy (to my suprise).
I don't know anything about this Sen. I just know the takeover of health care in this country by the government is unnecessary and illegal. It's a power grab. My employer offers excellent health care coverage and no one complains about it. But those same people will vote for the people who are trying to implement this travesty.
You simply need to choose private or government. It's so simple, why is it so hard for some to understand? Over the last decade, employees have seen their share of job-based coverage jump from $1,543 to $3,515.4 so having competition from the government will force these private companies to either fold or lower their prices. It can be done but what happens when your private healthcare CEO is making 9.8 million in annual salary and that company is paying 10 mill for lobbyists? co pays and denials
Without this Health care reform, small businesses will pay $2.4 trillion dollars over the next ten years in HC costs for workers, 178,000 small business jobs will be lost by 2018 as a result of health care costs, $834 billion in small business wages will be lost due to high health care costs, small businesses will lose $52.1 billion in profits to high health care costs and 1.6 million small business workers will suffer job lock.Roughly one in 16 people currently are insured by their employers.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Lie, lie, lie, lie, lie. The Government is NOT taking over health care, it's NOT illegal, and it's DESPERATELY neccessary. Thousands are dying because of lack of decent health care, but HMO profits are more important than those lives. Great, YOU have good health care, this bill won't affect it ONE BIT. But you want to continue a process killing thousands in the name of profits, and Republicans like DeMint are doing the same. Profits ahead of people, that's what the GOP's all about.
Vote this "Pro-Rape", "C-Street" supporter out of office. I know the Republicans are the party of "No" right now, but to vote for big business over the rights of a rape victim? Well, now I have seen it all. This fuck is one of 30 that voted no on the Franken amendment. UNBELIEVABLE! TRULY!
People of the US, you have lost your backbone. Since when do we the citizens of the US need help from the Gov for protection. We have guns in our homes. Also, it's time to stand up stop the IRS from pimping our paychecks to go to war for oil and then turn a blind eye when disaster strikes. Who needs government?
To much time is being spent debating how to make healthcare affordable. Nothing is affordable to a person with no job. And by the way people. There is no such thing as Dem or Rep but just united group of poor actors who pretend to argue, then go out to dinner together and have laughs. How much longer will we continue to be stupid? Check out the term 'Useless Eaters' and you will understand what is going on with the world economy.
This guy thinks you're an idiot. He obviously has some backroom deal with healthcare insurers. Why else would he support multi billion dollar middlmen who without my premiums would be cut in half. Eliminate them alltogether and make it nonprofit. Its not Freedom to support some industry who pushes paper and eats away at working peoples wages. Stop the patriotic idiocy that you've been fed by the mouthpieces for corporate wealth that has milked working people for decades. This guy is a WHORE
Why is this idiot against competition? Maybe it's because he's a TRAITOR to AMERICA. He helped the previous administration spend America into oblivion. He's not to be trusted. Makes me wonder if his trip to Central America is to visit his sweetie.
The worst among us are exposing themselves. These backwards, racist sheep are showing their true colors AND numbers. They are a small group with shriveled brains and loud voices. The majority of Americans are free thinking individuals who want to progress. Ostracize the lunatic fringe.
Why is still okay to make prejudiced remarks about Southerners? I'm so tired of people making assumptions that we are backwards in our thinking. Grow up and stop stereotyping!
I wonder if the people understood that a simple 2% tax on US traded derivatives could replace, dollar for dollar, the entire US income tax contribution. and then ensuring that we pay an accurate tax amount on it.
"The president has warned us if we disagree with him he's going to call us out," Sen. DeMint said. "Well, Mr. President, we are out." 9/12/08 at DC demonstration.
If you misrepresent what's in this plan, we will call you out. President Obama addressing joint session of Congress 9/9/09.
Hey verstwo2...If you were paying attention, the GOP has introduced legislation to improve healthcare many times in the past six years...only to have the liberal democrats vote them down.
It's so sad that the GOP has become the party of the conspiracy theory nuts.
IF the GOP has a plan to fix healthcare why didn't they implement it in the last 8 years?!?! Their the ones that let the healthcare system get to this. Now that the DEMs want to do something about it and all of a sudden the GOP has a plan? The GOP lead the healthcare system into ruin, it's time form someone else to lead.
Failed Medicare and Medicaid were proposed Democrat plans that are now bankrupt and failed. The Democratic majority in Congress existed at the later half of Bush's second term...when Fannie and Freddie failed after Democrat refusal for regulation. Under Republican majorities in the Congress, with Gingrich's implemented and now Pelosi disposed "Contract With America" the Democrats filibustered more than once actual health care reform proposed by the GOP Congress.
"Failed Medicare and Medicaid ...are now bankrupt and failed."
They are bankrupt and failed because Bush and a GOP congress added lots of spending initiatives and refused to fund them. Not to mention the wars they started and refused to fund. It is the GOP who rung up the deficit for 8 years after being left huge surpluses by Clinton. And then the GOP tries to pin in on Obama for trying to fix the economic collapse they created. WTF is wrong with you people?
I can see where you that can't take care of yourselves wan't a mommy and daddy to take care of you. We do not need or want Barry's " health care ". If you look at the polls and town hall meetings, you'd realize this. Look into the bill and see for yourself how bad it is. Let your party bias go and really look at it.
If Republicans wanted Health Care reform where were they for the last eight years when their Party had the White House?
This is a Party of Liars, America. Just ask Dewint's friend, Mark Sanford, the lying Republican governor of South Carolina who cheated on his wife and disgraced his own children and bragged about it later.
These are gangsters, America. They care not if we live or die.
Ummmmm, what about Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, AND AND AND AND AND JOHN FRICKIN EDWARDS who will probably be in jail for lying on top of lying. Just like Bill Clinton who still lies to this day.
There are plenty of Health REFORM Bills that the Republicans tried to pass but the Dems would not agree. P.S. Can you say Hypocrite?? Hint" Bill Clinton" ??" I did not have sexual relations with that woman", "John Edwards"???? " I am not the father of that baby" His poor wife has terminal cancer...Remember???
What motivates you? I always ask you people this, but you never tell me. What drives you to ignore the truth? To lie, to not think? Please, tell me. Maybe if I knew what drives you, I could help you grow a soul or a brain. Please.
What motivates and drives me is the searching and standing up for the Truth...no other reason! A soul- You have no soul. You support the killing of babies...it is sick! Just like Obama- he uses Christian values " refering to the call to leaders of Faith " when it suits him. You People do the same...It's only a baby when you want it to be a baby??? Get Real!
So....the thing that motivates you to ignore the facts, to ignore the truth, to lie for your agenda....the Truth motivates you? *sigh* I guess I'm foolish to expect a liar to tell the truth. Or for an idiot to speak with reason. And a baby is a baby when its born. Thats a fact. You get real. You can't just ignore the truth because you don';t like it. You have to grow up someday. You have to quit lying, stop being stubborn and accept reality. You can't be a baby forever.
does anyone remember terri schiavo? the republicans got involved to save the life of her? the conservatives already took over the health care of a woman all because the conservative public didnt want her family to make her medical decisions even though her husband was her power of attorney and had won the right to let his wife die by a florida court.
I thought that abortion was "above his paygrade" that is what obama said during the election. now he demands the public pay for them regardless of our beliefs. America will pay for this.
In the 1964, the nation recognized that had the obligation to assist people who did not have the means to feed themselves. Did the US Government take over the farms, the grocery stores and the local convenience store? No. They implemented a voucher system that gave the INDIVIDUAL food stamps to buy food. The INDIVIDUAL was able make their own decision on what and where to buy food. This fits in well with a free enterprise market. Competition controls prices.
It is GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE with the health insurance and health care markets that introduce inefficiencies, thus driving the cost of health care and health insurance HIGHER. It can be proven that free markets ALWAYS TEND TO BENEFIT (technically, INCREASE INDIVIDUAL UTILITY OR SATISFACTION), while any COERCION (and governments are coercive by their nature) WILL TEND TO REDUCE THE SUM OF ECONOMIC UTILITY in the market place. The MORE COERCION, the MORE INDIVIDUAL SATISFACTION will be REDUCED.
@RDCushing making health insurance about getting profits is INSANE and DOES NOT benefit anyone but the insurance companies, if it did, it wouldn't need reform. we are the only developed country without universal healthcare, not to mention all the people including myself that need it
A. $5k times approx. 70 million families would cost the government many times what the Democratic plan would cost, driving deficits even higher. ( do the math)
B. The real cost of a family policy is more like $12K
so Demint is wrong there.
C. The plans before congress already provided for an insurance clearing house that would promote competition...so nothing new there.
Demint is talking trash. He has no plan.
He's just in " stop Obama" mode...even if he has no alternatives.
Is that your portion?...does you employer contribute as well? The national average is 12K for a family of four for a comprehensive policy. My families blue cross is 13K.
Perhaps you have only catastrophic and high deductibles, limited drug benefits etc. Thats the only way to get it that low. Look hard at your policy my friend...those cheap policies are some times not worth the paper they a printed on. I do the books for a doctor...its amazing how much stuff the cheap policies don't cover.
Senator Demint suggests an alternate healthcare plan that includes a $5000 tax credit or voucher for every family in America, to buy health insurance. He says that 5K is the cost for a typical family policy. He also proposed opening up markets to more competition between carriers.
Page 16 of this health care bill states take after this bill is past that employers will not be able to enroll any new emplyees to the emplyers health care and has to sign up on the government heatlh care. Why do you liberals want a social system? Why are you liberals destroying America? Impeach Oabma and his adminisrtation!
Impeach Obama and his adminisrtation. Obama said that he is going to eliminate private health care!!!!!! Obama said it will not be immedately and will take a little time, but he will get ride of emplyment heatlh care!! Those of you that are Obama supporters need to wake -up! This party of democrates are destroying America!
With all due respect, Senator, the health care debate is at the core of macroeconomic policy. This nation WILL NOT compete in the increasingly global 21st century economy without comprehensive health care and insurance reform to include a public option. I live in the Lowcountry. My story is too long to convey in this forum. But suffice it to say, we citizens need a public option. Profit-taking in the insurance industry is crippling us. Please help instead of standing in the way. We emplore you.
Simply put, health care costs will continue to spiral out of control, take a larger chunk out of GDP and eventually bankrupt the U.S. Currently, insurance eats up nearly 20% of GDP. If nothing is done to change the system (including entitlement reform i.e. Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security) that percentage will continue to rise. As the combined costs approach 50% of GDP, all of our tax dollars will end up paying into insurance costs in addition to servicing the national debt. Good enough?
Currently it is not expected to hit 20% until 2017.
The current rating is 17%.
I agree that health care costs are too high and a lot of that is based on the fact that insurers are going to pick up part of what ever ridiculous bill that a hospital issues.
I do not believe in giving such large amount of control to the fed government, it is not in the best interests of the American people for the federal government to ration health care. We seem to be swapping one controlling entity for another.
That is patently false. Congress is not planning a government takeover of health care. It has been said, repeatedly, that if you like your health care, you can keep it - regardless of the language contained in the final bill. What Senator DeMint and his other cohorts in the Senate (including Democrats, I might add) are doing is standing in the way of reform at the behest of the insurance companies who will see decreased profits. They are not acting in the best interests of their constituents.
You have not heard anything Obama said, Obama is for single payment and eliminating the private ins. company....he has said this in 2003 during one of his speeches...and on the news he said he wanted our health care like Europe...Europe is social and I have lived there for three years and America does not want to go that route! Impeach Obama and his administration!!!!!
I agree. I've had it with government run single payer health care! We need to get rid of Medicare for the elderly. They do not need it nor do they want it. Seniors hate Medicare and would rather pay for their own health insurance from private companies like all other Americans. U.S. soldiers and veterans should get private insurance too! It is time to get government out of the health care business. Down with Medicare and the VA!
I agree with Senator DeMint 100%. The correct way to fix Health Care is to lower Health Care prices to that everyone can afford it and forbid US Citizens by law from having more than one Health Care plan.
actually the democrats took the house and senate in 2006. Also republicans never had the high enough numbers to lock out the democrat opposition as the democrats have now.
Furthermore why do we look at Canada and England as the model when Germany has a statistically better system, in terms of wait times and survival rates(which is still much lower then it is in this country), that is not centralized.
We have the best system in the world what we need to do is lower the cost not rebuild it.
You have a point, I think we get brought into the false left-right paradigm all too often instead of doing what is best for the American people.
The government already has far too much control over the American people to where it is now a separate entity and we are in a situation where it is nearly impossible to get control of the government back and each side views the other as enemy.
This health care bill doesn't seem like an answer to any of our problems.
I have always liked you, but now I like you even more.
"Government is not solution to the problem, Government is the problem" Ronald Reagan said. It is still true and it always will be. US Health care needs more free market competition, not more government.
I disagree with the argument gov cannot be involved and free market is answer. For one markets are not that rational, contrary to some academics, just look at financial crisis, so why should we expect people to make 'educated' choices for there healthcare. Instead they rely on doctors with the insentive to use expensive and unecessary treatments, based on uneducated buracrat the insurance agent. Surely a reform must limit bad incentives in free market system, and gov intevention is needed.
Well gov aims from cons and libs to get people to buy homes is an example of bad intervention. Gov can be destructive and creative when it intervenes. Maybe if it required banks to hold more capital and split the banks into sections based on commercial and investment banks it could have avoided the crisis. Financial and healthcare markets are in need of elegant and concise gov intervention at the moment. Your reply could had more explanation to it.
The reason we had a housing bubble is because the Fed set interest rates too low for too long. No human being can know what the rate of interest should be just like no person knows what the stock market should be. Government can never be creative without first being destructive. Regulations on capital would have been fruitless and counter-intuitive while the government at the same time was priming the pump with ultra-low interest rates. Government intervention and concise/elegant are oxy morons.
Don't be such an ideologue. Gov can make good interventions, an example is the gov regulation of financial market which stopped any runs on banks until reps and dems destroyed it. Your correct about interest rates, though capital build up could still reduced risks of banking collapse. The US system is full bad incentives for doctors, profiteering oligopoly of insurance firms, and lack info for consumer choice; it will only push costs up further and make bank bailout look like peanuts
I had an emergency while in France. The care was 100 times better than here in the good ol' USA. The system here is a FOR PROFIT SYSTEM - that is why these guys try to make it sound like a nightmare because they are being paid by lobbies for health industries to keep the money flowing. A capitalist WILL sell the the rope with which to hang him, and us, unfortunately.
AP: THE FACTS: Obama's numbers are based on figures compiled by his own budget office. But they rely on assumptions about economic growth that some economists find too optimistic. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, in its own analysis of the president's budget numbers, concluded that the cumulative deficit over the next decade would be $9.1 trillion.
Obama using scare tactics to push a bill and LYING about what is in it
WoW this guy is pretty good!,, he stuck to his script even when he fumbled!!! lmao but what I luv the most is how he took Obama's Speechs and put Repubs in front of it! You Stole the Country Now you wanna Steal other Peoples Thoughts,, and the worst part is our TAX Money pays for this guy's Salary and his wifes mint coat,,, oh not to mention the hidious Tie and Hair Club Membership! lol
DeMint is just another self absorbed politician who is putting the needs of his political party and career aspirations over the needs of everyday Americans. DeMint, Sanford, Graham. What's up with South Carolina?
Sen. DeMint is 100% correct! Demonrats say they're for choice, but only if they're the ones making the choice. Dems believe most people are stupid, which by electing Obama, can be understood, but when it comes to rushing a huge debacle into law, the people wise up agianst it, thank God!
Noooooooo Dems believe most Repubes are stupid, not most People. And we have look into this matter if repubs can be still considered human, a party that cheers on Palin???! SEVENTY PERCENT????!?!?!
People say they hate her because she is a conservative woman; but I don't know. I'm prochoice and I'm not threatened by Palin's choice to keep her downsyndrome child. I respect that actually.
I think it has more to do with the fact that Palin is genuine in stark contrast to such politicians as Obama. They didn't want her to play their reigndeer games because she didn't play by their wellestablished rules
Don't be crazy AND stupid. She lost the election, because she's stupid, and proud of it, and still doesn't REALLY see the problem. And we're still talking about her coz she still get wide support from Repubes. It's not like she's Stevens or Larry Craig. She gets more votes than Huckabee. Which is not really that bad, since Huckabee is REALLY Machiavellian dangerous ....
We don't hate normal conservatives, like Christ and Schock
yeah dems have kept the lawsuits going for a long long time... one thing about them, they sure are persistant; but it's a waste of Alaskan taxpayers' money. She was right to get out and some the people money and the wingnuts who attacked her family and kept he lawsuits coming should be ashamed of themselves.
Nobody said ANYTHING about WILLOW ... until Todd put her in the spotlight, by smearing her as a rape victim, of a 66 year old guy who's banging a 40 year old. If they thought he was talking about Willow, means she's fucking or fucking AND fucking pregnant!
Willow can outrun Dave ANYWAY, especially after the daily sex with his wife ....
Nobody attacked Bristol until she decided to make a fool of herself for ... money!!!
If I would wanna stop drinking I would NOT take advice from a drunk.
I can't say I disagree entirely with you dee and I have read the conspiracy theories... seems to be some real meat there. If we would stop playing American Idol with our voting power and start holding our reps accountable for the ISSUES alone, it wouldn't matter if it's true or not. That''s what we need people to do. Wake up and vote on issues, not the party or person we like most.
we are so far in the hole now that I would even vote for Ron Paul... it's going to take some very fiscally conservative reps to get us back. Reagan did it after Carter; but this is much worse.
McCain would have tackled lobbyists and pork; but was for the original tarp; so he wouldn't be ideal. Honestly, not even Carter was worse than Obama when it comes to the economy and our debt; but Palin is fiscally conservative. She definately wouldn't have put us in this debt.
My last note didn't post...the two of you are right/wrong on the ISSUES, please put aside just for a short time the anger/hope you have in the "person" at hand and research the federal reserve, you both will be outraged! They are ultimately responsible for the war, house bubble, present crash, and lots of other things. Please do some checking. You may find yourselves on the same side of that if nothing else....later.....
I would love to have two people with half a brain in office. Instead, we have a whole administration and congress that can't come up with that much all together! It fits though, look at the lame comments and attacks here by the people who elected Obama.
research the federal reserve, which by the way IS NOT a goverment agency, but a PRIVATELY owned company. From there you will find --bush, obama, clinton, whoever IT IS beside the point. It is about money and control
Follow the money, always for answers. Bush, well connected and burried in it, Obama, yes him too. Look at his history from school to now. It is about powerful people putting in the people they think the people will most accept given the climate and then doing basically what they were going to do anyway as long as the people don't whine too much.
I see what you mean, but I don't have to TRUST you, I read, I look around me .... basically i have this little trick I use, which I like to call ACCEPTING FACTS. No trust is needed.
blueguise...look this isn't a dem or rep issue. Bush did exactly as he was suppsed to, Obama too. Yes I agree the war isn't a win issue. But Rhiannon is correct that the bubble as well as many other issues were CREATED by politicians and big business both. Bush could have done much more to stop it, it was a token word he put forward. They are "in bed" with one another and they are the ones that profit from our losses. It isn't a democrat or republican issue.
The housing bubble that dems created with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac burst and that's what caused our economic trouble... not Bush. When are you going to stop blaming Bush for everything?
Bush sent the troops into a War that can't be won...costing this country Trillions of dollars. Bush destroyed this economy and EVERYTHING happening right now...the Job Loss, the companies and banks collapsing, is the FALLOUT of Bush's horrible administration...And now you want to blame the President that inherited this madness - six months into his administration?
blueguise you mean well I am sure and I agree that obama has done more in six months than bush....bush was taking us down at a slightly less drastic pace than obama...his ability to sell to the american people is far more skillful than bush, but in all it harms our freedoms and limits our right--neither is good for us
123dee4567 Obama said he would start the process of bringing the troops home in a reasonable time-frame that doesn't put their safety in jeopardy. Obama has done that - they are in the process of coming home.
What did Bush do his entire 8 years? Dug this Nation into a hole that only a brilliant President like Obama can dig us out of!!!
It will take time-it's been 6 months!
President Obama has done more in 6 months, than Bush did his entire presidency.
right off let me get this out...I am no bush fan either, however he said at first it would be 18months max, then what 20? now its like 28 or something, oh wait isn't that what bush said it would be--no he hasn't done it. He is moving them around suprisingly in the same manner bush was going to do. He promised it would be sooner..he simply isn't doing it.
employers aren't going to pay for private health care if Obamacare is passed and you know it. It's the sneaky dem tactic of pretending something is one thing when it's really going to be something else
private insurance will be like Canada's private insurance... only the very rich will have it and the rest of us will be paying outragious taxes for substandard care
Just off the top of my head --he promised he would allow 5 days before anything would need to be voted on, he promised it would be posted online on the gov website...never happened sitll isn't happening, he promised he would bring the troops home right away, not happening, he promised there would not be ONE lobbyist in his administration, absolutely not happened...and there are lots of other things
The problem with healthcare in this country is the cost and accessability
We can reduce the cost by tackling things like frivolous lawsuits and can require all insurance companies to accept existing illnesses. Why can't we do those things first? Why can't we fix social security first? Why the rush to Obamacare?
Want me to take a guess? Why did they rush the "stimulous" bill through? Now that we have had a chance to see it, we know that it's just a dem payoff bill.. that's why.
After that huge "stimulous" bill that was really a dem spending bill intended to payoff those who put them in power(and who can keep them in power), you betchya I don't trust them. My grandchildren will be paying for that dem payoff bill decades from now.
Why would I trust them? We need to shrink government control... not continue to grow it under the guise of some seemingly well-intended purpose.
frivolous lawsuits are a big problem and time would be better spent tackling things like that than trying to push through another unread bill that increases our debt and gives government more control
DeMint is speaking for me... that's what I want more of my elected officals to do.
It's not that we don't want healthcare reform... it's that we don't want this administration taking over anymore private industries. I don't trust them.
They wont be taking over a private industry ... where did you get that idea? Public schools don't replace private schools, they compete with them ... get it?
You have to leave a legacy behind. Seems DeMint's will be to prevent American families from having healthcare that has proven to work in the UK, Europe, and Canada.
I didn't like Bush either; but I'm starting to see some indications that he may have been right. I respect the fact that he was willing to do what he thought was right even though we couldn't possibly determine that during his presidency and instead, it would hurt him. He obviously didn't do it for political points.
That's something very few politicians are willing to do.
Right about what? What the fuck went right during his administration? What the fuck is better now than it was 9 years ago? Stop making BS general statements like: "he [obama] has lied too many times...broken too many promises " without providing examples otherwise you're just another fringe lunatic making specious claims about things you know jack shit about. Go check your facts on what Obama has promised and delivered at Politifact[dot]com. You'll see Obama is 32/7 so far kept/broken. Not bad.
Most Americans want some kind of healthcare reform and maybe if they trusted this adminstration they might be more open to universal care; but he has lied too many times...broken too many promises and has spent us into a deep hole. If it walks, talks and acts like a socialist, it's hard to believe that it's not a socialist and we don't need a socialist drafting our healthcare reform.
if i believed you or agreed with you, I would be able to afford my own Plan. What you people don't seem to care about is this country going straight to hell like it did under BUSH. The governmment allready pays 80% of all healthcare cost in this Country...If their were some issues that need reform (like fraudulent claims) what are you people so afraid of...I know...that you won't be credited for finding the problems and correcting them....You all are truly full of SHIT!
Now we know why all the attempts to fix healthcare problems have been voted down. The ultimate end game is more governement control. If they would have allowed the free market to work then there wouldn't be a crisis allowing them to 'take over' another portion of the economy.
demint may find that this is his own waterloo. 75% of americans support universal healthcare including half of all republicans. He won't even listen to his won constituents on this issue. We should take away his free government healthcare since it is so evil and socialistic.
"Here in England our education is far superior to that of the USA. Our Health Care is also better because it is a right for everyone & the doctors & nurses in return receive more benefits as well as higher salaries compared to those of the United States." Please bring this to the US too. People who care about American families will support this healthcare reform.
Despite its newness, Iraq's democracy appears to be no more dysfunctional than one that would condemn a man who has kept the nation safe for seven years while deifying a man who has accomplished absolutely nothing in his entire life except to give speeches about "change."
Kept us safe for 7 years? At least you didn't try and deny that he let us suffer the worst terrorist attack in history. "Kept us safe" my ASS! Do you think that what we've been doing the last 8 years has
A. increased hatred for the US
B. made everyone in the world love us
C. I don't know, Rush hasn't told me what to think yet
Also, the line that Obama hasn't done anything ceased to be relevant when he started signing bills as the president of the United States.
Your nonsensical attempt to divine the thoughts of 6 billion people doesn't change the FACT that Bush kept America safe for 7 years, contrary to the last prophesy of you traitorious Democrat mystics.
"
Never Forget What?
Since major al-Qaida attacks are planned well in advance and have historically been separated by intervals of 12 to 24 months, we will find out how much we've been distracted soon enough.
I'm not denying that we avoided any major terrorist acts after 9/11; What I'm saying is that your point is a silly one because he was in office for 8 years, and during those 8 years we suffered the worst attack in history. You're trying to highlight how good of a job he did against terrorism by looking at the data you're comfortable with and ignoring what's obvious to all: Bush missed the train on 9/11 and we paid the price. When we're still safe in 2 years will you man up and admit your error?
Your "point" was that Bush was to blame for the 2nd Muslim attack on the World Trade Center, which occurred 8 months into his first term.
My rebuttal pointed to the historical record showing that Democrats spent the DECADES leading up to the attack dismantling -- "brick by brick" -- our nation's ability to detect such attacks.
It's certainly possible that Democrat apologists are too dim witted to grasp such "substance", but I'm not so optimistic.
Debunking their endless propaganda would require effort if Democrats had any brains.

On Tape, Clinton Admits Passing Up bin Laden Capture; Lewinsky Played Role
Clinton's comments and his actions relating to American efforts to capture bin Laden have taken on renewed interest because of claims made in a new ABC movie, the "Path to 9/11," that suggests Clinton dropped the ball during his presidency.

I support Sen. DeMint!
toddlabonte 2 years ago 6

"The annual premium for an employer health plan covering a family of four averaged nearly $12,700"
Off the webMD site:
Sept. 11, 2007 - The cost of health insurance for the average family of four now tops $12,000 per year, according to an annual survey. "
Thats from almost 2 years ago.
This for the AMA web site:
"The average annual cost of a family plan in 2008 was $12,680"

So what does Senator Demint offer?
Senator Demint suggests an alternate healthcare plan that includes a $5000 tax credit or voucher for every family in America, to buy health insurance. He says that 5K is the cost for a typical family policy. He also proposed opening up markets to more competition between carriers.

We emplore you.
dfdrox 2 years ago
"This nation WILL NOT compete in the increasingly global 21st century economy without comprehensive health care and insurance reform"
And how is that?
jbeddome1 2 years ago
Simply put, health care costs will continue to spiral out of control, take a larger chunk out of GDP and eventually bankrupt the U.S. Currently, insurance eats up nearly 20% of GDP. If nothing is done to change the system (including entitlement reform i.e. Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security) that percentage will continue to rise. As the combined costs approach 50% of GDP, all of our tax dollars will end up paying into insurance costs in addition to servicing the national debt. Good enough?
dfdrox 2 years ago
Currently it is not expected to hit 20% until 2017.
The current rating is 17%.
I agree that health care costs are too high and a lot of that is based on the fact that insurers are going to pick up part of what ever ridiculous bill that a hospital issues.
I do not believe in giving such large amount of control to the fed government, it is not in the best interests of the American people for the federal government to ration health care. We seem to be swapping one controlling entity for another.
jbeddome1 2 years ago
That is patently false. Congress is not planning a government takeover of health care. It has been said, repeatedly, that if you like your health care, you can keep it - regardless of the language contained in the final bill. What Senator DeMint and his other cohorts in the Senate (including Democrats, I might add) are doing is standing in the way of reform at the behest of the insurance companies who will see decreased profits. They are not acting in the best interests of their constituents.
dfdrox 2 years ago

actually the democrats took the house and senate in 2006.

Surely a reform must limit bad incentives in free market system, and gov intevention is needed.
ckerton1 2 years ago 3
Right, government had absolutely nothing to do with the financial crisis. And if you believe that I've got some swampland in Florida for sale.
thomasw78 2 years ago
@thomasw78
Your reply could had more explanation to it.
ckerton1 2 years ago
The reason we had a housing bubble is because the Fed set interest rates too low for too long. No human being can know what the rate of interest should be just like no person knows what the stock market should be. Government can never be creative without first being destructive. Regulations on capital would have been fruitless and counter-intuitive while the government at the same time was priming the pump with ultra-low interest rates. Government intervention and concise/elegant are oxy morons.
thomasw78 2 years ago
@thomasw78

TheSteelGeneral 2 years ago
People say they hate her because she is a conservative woman; but I don't know. I'm prochoice and I'm not threatened by Palin's choice to keep her downsyndrome child. I respect that actually.
I think it has more to do with the fact that Palin is genuine in stark contrast to such politicians as Obama. They didn't want her to play their reigndeer games because she didn't play by their wellestablished rules
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
Don't be crazy AND stupid. She lost the election, because she's stupid, and proud of it, and still doesn't REALLY see the problem. And we're still talking about her coz she still get wide support from Repubes. It's not like she's Stevens or Larry Craig. She gets more votes than Huckabee. Which is not really that bad, since Huckabee is REALLY Machiavellian dangerous ....
We don't hate normal conservatives, like Christ and Schock
PS.
And NOWAY you're prochoice
TheSteelGeneral 2 years ago
why do liberals fear Palin so much? I don't get it.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
FACE IT. This is a fact:
Sarah Palin has absolutely NO CHANCE of ever being elected to high office again.
Seh got to be governor of Alaska, strictly because of her cut throat tactics, ability to "play the victim" and her looks!
Certainly not because of her brains.
None-the-less, Palin single-handedly sunk the McCain ship.
Palin will never be taken seriously. She is a political joke, and now A QUITTER.
blueguise23 2 years ago
You may find the liberal media entertaining and worthy of taking serious; but I don't
I do my homework and don't vote based on American Idol, sensationalized interviews
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
yeah dems have kept the lawsuits going for a long long time... one thing about them, they sure are persistant; but it's a waste of Alaskan taxpayers' money. She was right to get out and some the people money and the wingnuts who attacked her family and kept he lawsuits coming should be ashamed of themselves.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
Nobody said ANYTHING about WILLOW ... until Todd put her in the spotlight, by smearing her as a rape victim, of a 66 year old guy who's banging a 40 year old. If they thought he was talking about Willow, means she's fucking or fucking AND fucking pregnant!
Willow can outrun Dave ANYWAY, especially after the daily sex with his wife ....
Nobody attacked Bristol until she decided to make a fool of herself for ... money!!!
If I would wanna stop drinking I would NOT take advice from a drunk.

See the Katie Couric/Sarah Palin interview recently?
How about the Charles Gibson/Sarah Palin interview?
Oh, I bet you think these were "gotcha" interviews, because it exposed that Sarah Palin is a total IDIOT.
Palin doesn't even know the difference between a country and a continent.
And, you think she could have gotten us out of this economic mess, with absolute NO command of the issues?
blueguise23 2 years ago
Hahahahaha!
Sarah Palin is currently being brought up for Ethics Charges again...Look it up!
Fiscal conservative---haha! She has practically bankrupt Alaska with her spending on ridiculous things. I have a friend who lives there.
Hey, I have a seal to sell you, will you buy this too?
blueguise23 2 years ago
I can't say I disagree entirely with you dee and I have read the conspiracy theories... seems to be some real meat there. If we would stop playing American Idol with our voting power and start holding our reps accountable for the ISSUES alone, it wouldn't matter if it's true or not. That''s what we need people to do. Wake up and vote on issues, not the party or person we like most.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
we are so far in the hole now that I would even vote for Ron Paul... it's going to take some very fiscally conservative reps to get us back. Reagan did it after Carter; but this is much worse.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
McCain would have tackled lobbyists and pork; but was for the original tarp; so he wouldn't be ideal. Honestly, not even Carter was worse than Obama when it comes to the economy and our debt; but Palin is fiscally conservative. She definately wouldn't have put us in this debt.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
And I suppose you think McCain and Palin could have dug us out of this mess?
Two people with half a brain.
blueguise23 2 years ago
My last note didn't post...the two of you are right/wrong on the ISSUES, please put aside just for a short time the anger/hope you have in the "person" at hand and research the federal reserve, you both will be outraged! They are ultimately responsible for the war, house bubble, present crash, and lots of other things. Please do some checking. You may find yourselves on the same side of that if nothing else....later.....
123dee4567 2 years ago
I would love to have two people with half a brain in office. Instead, we have a whole administration and congress that can't come up with that much all together! It fits though, look at the lame comments and attacks here by the people who elected Obama.
MrTeamroper1859 2 years ago
research the federal reserve, which by the way IS NOT a goverment agency, but a PRIVATELY owned company. From there you will find --bush, obama, clinton, whoever IT IS beside the point. It is about money and control
123dee4567 2 years ago
Obama is going to be right underneath Carter on the list of presidents Americans are most proud of
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
can't be that spot is already taken by Bush.... HW bush. Underneath HIM there's room, cos waaaaaaaay below that comes sonny George.
TheSteelGeneral 2 years ago
Follow the money, always for answers. Bush, well connected and burried in it, Obama, yes him too. Look at his history from school to now. It is about powerful people putting in the people they think the people will most accept given the climate and then doing basically what they were going to do anyway as long as the people don't whine too much.
123dee4567 2 years ago
All-in-all Obama will go down as one of the United States best presidents, and Bust will go down in history as the ultimate worse ever.
Trust me on this.
blueguise23 2 years ago
I see what you mean, but I don't have to TRUST you, I read, I look around me .... basically i have this little trick I use, which I like to call ACCEPTING FACTS. No trust is needed.
TheSteelGeneral 2 years ago
blueguise...look this isn't a dem or rep issue.
123dee4567 2 years ago
did I make an excuse for Bush or did I explain what created the economic mess we're in now?
Bush was wrong about tarp; but Obama more than doubled Bushes spending and he's still trying to do more of it.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
And when are you going to stop making excuses for Bush...The Worse and the dumbest president this country has EVER had?
blueguise23 2 years ago
The housing bubble that dems created with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac burst and that's what caused our economic trouble... not Bush. When are you going to stop blaming Bush for everything?
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
Bush did nothing but get us into this mess.
Give me a break!
blueguise23 2 years ago
blueguise you mean well I am sure and I agree that obama has done more in six months than bush....bush was taking us down at a slightly less drastic pace than obama...his ability to sell to the american people is far more skillful than bush, but in all it harms our freedoms and limits our right--neither is good for us
123dee4567 2 years ago
why do liberals have such foul mouths? Can't you express a thought without all the explatives?
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
he promised he would take public campaign finance
he promised he would be bipartisan
he promised he would go through bills line by line and get rid of pork
he promised his administration would be "politics as usual"
but those are nothing compaired to the "stimulous" dem payoff bill he pushed through... nothing
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
123dee4567 Obama said he would start the process of bringing the troops home in a reasonable time-frame that doesn't put their safety in jeopardy. Obama has done that - they are in the process of coming home.
What did Bush do his entire 8 years? Dug this Nation into a hole that only a brilliant President like Obama can dig us out of!!!
It will take time-it's been 6 months!
President Obama has done more in 6 months, than Bush did his entire presidency.
OBAMA 2012
blueguise23 2 years ago
right off let me get this out...I am no bush fan either, however he said at first it would be 18months max, then what 20? now its like 28 or something, oh wait isn't that what bush said it would be--no he hasn't done it.

Rhiannon003 2 years ago
Just off the top of my head --he promised he would allow 5 days before anything would need to be voted on, he promised it would be posted online on the gov website...never happened sitll isn't happening, he promised he would bring the troops home right away, not happening, he promised there would not be ONE lobbyist in his administration, absolutely not happened...and there are lots of other things
123dee4567 2 years ago
The problem with healthcare in this country is the cost and accessability
We can reduce the cost by tackling things like frivolous lawsuits and can require all insurance companies to accept existing illnesses. Why can't we do those things first? Why can't we fix social security first? Why the rush to Obamacare?
Want me to take a guess? Why did they rush the "stimulous" bill through? Now that we have had a chance to see it, we know that it's just a dem payoff bill.. that's why.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
After that huge "stimulous" bill that was really a dem spending bill intended to payoff those who put them in power(and who can keep them in power), you betchya I don't trust them. My grandchildren will be paying for that dem payoff bill decades from now.
Why would I trust them? We need to shrink government control... not continue to grow it under the guise of some seemingly well-intended purpose.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
frivolous lawsuits are a big problem and time would be better spent tackling things like that than trying to push through another unread bill that increases our debt and gives government more control
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
Bush said the economy was healthy before he left office. Did any of yous' believe him?????
mwc1954 2 years ago
DeMint is speaking for me... that's what I want more of my elected officals to do.
It's not that we don't want healthcare reform... it's that we don't want this administration taking over anymore private industries. I don't trust them.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
They wont be taking over a private industry ... where did you get that idea? Public schools don't replace private schools, they compete with them ... get it?
joshTheGoods 2 years ago
You have to leave a legacy behind. Seems DeMint's will be to prevent American families from having healthcare that has proven to work in the UK, Europe, and Canada.
takingcookies1 2 years ago
I didn't like Bush either; but I'm starting to see some indications that he may have been right. I respect the fact that he was willing to do what he thought was right even though we couldn't possibly determine that during his presidency and instead, it would hurt him. He obviously didn't do it for political points.
That's something very few politicians are willing to do.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
Right about what? What the fuck went right during his administration? What the fuck is better now than it was 9 years ago? Stop making BS general statements like: "he [obama] has lied too many times...broken too many promises " without providing examples otherwise you're just another fringe lunatic making specious claims about things you know jack shit about. Go check your facts on what Obama has promised and delivered at Politifact[dot]com. You'll see Obama is 32/7 so far kept/broken. Not bad.
joshTheGoods 2 years ago
Most Americans want some kind of healthcare reform and maybe if they trusted this adminstration they might be more open to universal care; but he has lied too many times...broken too many promises and has spent us into a deep hole. If it walks, talks and acts like a socialist, it's hard to believe that it's not a socialist and we don't need a socialist drafting our healthcare reform.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
if i believed you or agreed with you, I would be able to afford my own Plan. What you people don't seem to care about is this country going straight to hell like it did under BUSH. The governmment allready pays 80% of all healthcare cost in this Country...If their were some issues that need reform (like fraudulent claims) what are you people so afraid of...I know...that you won't be credited for finding the problems and correcting them....You all are truly full of SHIT!
mwc1954 2 years ago
Now we know why all the attempts to fix healthcare problems have been voted down. The ultimate end game is more governement control. If they would have allowed the free market to work then there wouldn't be a crisis allowing them to 'take over' another portion of the economy.
hillaryTex 2 years ago
demint may find that this is his own waterloo. 75% of americans support universal healthcare including half of all republicans. He won't even listen to his won constituents on this issue. We should take away his free government healthcare since it is so evil and socialistic.

BRICK BY BRICK
"
We should totally dismantle every intelligence agency in this country piece by piece, brick by brick, nail by nail.
"
-- Ron Dellums (D), House Select Committee on Intelligence, 1980
From the peanut farmer (Carter) to the horny-hick (Clinton), Democrats worked for decades to damage our national security, and PUBLICLY BOAST of it.
Democrats now smear the damage they inflicted on America onto their opposition. Bush is guilty only of not executing Democrats for treason.
TylerNull 2 years ago 3
I'll take that response to mean that you have nothing of substance to say refuting my points. Congratulations, you've been pwned.
(you can't even redirect well ... jeez)
joshTheGoods 2 years ago
Your "point" was that Bush was to blame for the 2nd Muslim attack on the World Trade Center, which occurred 8 months into his first term.
My rebuttal pointed to the historical record showing that Democrats spent the DECADES leading up to the attack dismantling -- "brick by brick" -- our nation's ability to detect such attacks.
It's certainly possible that Democrat apologists are too dim witted to grasp such "substance", but I'm not so optimistic.
