He contradicted himself. Because the plant has a large inflorescence (group of flowers) it is not the largest single flower in the world. That title goes to Rafflesia Arnoldii. It is a single flower, and it can be up to 39 inches in diameter.

At the University of Missouri-St Louis we currently have TWO Titan Arums in bloom, quite unprecedented. It is interesting to note that it is entirely possible that our plants were grown from seeds of the one in this video. Attenborough was guided to this plant by Dr, Jim Symon, the same man who supplied the seeds our Arums have grown from.

When our first Arum bloomed in 1998 it was the first time one to bloom in the US since 1939. Amazing organism!
