LOL I am NOT at all saying the camera had anything to do with the RTO. I am just stating that its annoying when people dont follow our simple directions. We dont ask you to stow electronic devices because they interfere with avionics...WE ASK YOU TO STOW THEM BECAUSE THEY CAN BECOME PROJECTILES IN AN EMERGENCY, causing injury to you or those around you in a accident or crash landing, etc.
Hey CO777DAL. I've also experienced 2 rejected takeoffs. 1 on an Mesa CRJ-200 in EUG, we were probably around 75kts and had to use reverse thrust. then another time in DEN on a SkyWest CRJ-200 we had just pushed the engines up and then pulled off at the first intersection. we taxiid out on one engine and started the engine too close to the runway and temps were below freezing so the oil temp wasnt warm enough for takeoff so we had to abort and let the engine warm up
Also, if the plane were to come to a crash stop or hit turbulence in flight on your other video...your darn camcorder turns in to a PROJECTILE which can inflict SERIOUS injury to other passengers or crew. Think about THAT before you pull the camera out next time.
@need7when That is true. This is why my camera is tightly wrapped around my hand several times. If it is going somewhere I'm going with it. These camera comes with really nice straps so you don't drop them. Sure one drop and they are done for. I more worried about those big book people bring on-board and can read during take-off and landing. Those hard back Harry Pottery books are bigger and weight a lot more than my camera and are not strapped to the person reading it.
For those complaining about my digital camera, tell me you have never drove faster than the posted speed limit. The speed limit sign is the law and means do not exceed. I have yet to see a plane crash because of a passenger's digital camera but thousands die every year due to speeding. Also I highly doubt the components of the aircraft magically change between the ground and 10,000ft.
@020808 There was a suspicion that a plane did actually crash in Europe due to one passenger's cell phone receiving a call and a second passenger's cell receiving a text at the same time. At that same exact time, the plane's autopilot malfunctioned, and the plane turned off the glideslope and plunged into a market district...
However, digital cameras do not send EMI or RFI like a cell phone. Indeed, if you ask the captain on most flights, they'll allow you to video takeoff/landing with a camera
Yes, don't you know that your camcorder can defeat hardened electronics, the amount of electronic energy being generated could make the auto pilot go crazy, the gauges go haywire, the toilets to pump in the opposite direct....... Or it could have no affect at all, though I guess the law is the law, just makes me laugh that people think a camcorder could bring a plane down.
I have friends that fly for Chautauqua... Not a bad airline... I am pretty sure that your camera which is an electronic devise should have been off while all of these videos were being shot... Just an observation.
@duraflame481 Chautauqua is not a bad airlines. I really like their parent company Republic and wish them the best. I hope all goes well with Frontier, and no one loses their jobs. This has more to do with the change than anything. CO and CO EX was ExpressJet forever then CO brought in Chautauqua and those CRJ-200 and no one was use to the way Chautauqua did business and their were lots of problems. Sort like a lot of UA FF thinkin CO is the devil and out to destroy UA.
@skyguy74 What about pacemakers? Any device that does not transmit a signal can be used under 10k feet, next time you're in a plane, go check out the section in the airline magazine about what's never allowed, allowed at 10k feet, and what's always allowed.
YOu really need to learn statistics. In ancient times, I was on a CO 727 taking off in Albuquerque, when the oil pressure gauge indicated trouble with the number gtwo engine. The crew aborted the take off. I flew many 727's since, and lived to tell about it.
Oh my god! Your camcorder just made that airplane do a RTO! Come on people, stop moaning about the camcorder! You got me here by Airliners(dot)net by the way, thanks for sharing!
@archer49d I am a righteous prick because you are a total loser.

ALL PORTABLE ELECTRONICS are supposed to be OFF below 10,000 feet. Its passengers like you that make me want to pull a Steven Slater.

@skyguy74 Are you seriously saying this?h
Hell there are some videos taken by the crew themselves, its not like the cam caused it

@skyguy74 It's people like you that made me stop flying passengers and fly cargo instead.

Why are you using an electronic device? Were you not told my the crew to power this down?
