Speak reminds me soo much of my freshman year of high school. Cause like Melinda I lost all of my friends during the summer. Almost due to similiar situations. I read the book when my grandmother was in the hospital when i was a freshman at college and i nearly cried bc I had been there.

I borrowed mines from Netflix. If you don't have Netflix, I saw the movie at Borders too. But that depends if they have it in stock or not. There's amazon and ebay too. I heard someone uploaded the movie in youtube. If you have showtime on cable, you can watch it there.
