I had a few meetings with Warren to try and turn out 'Exitable Boy' as a series of graphic novels. Ended up not happening but it was still cool to talk to him about his art and the possibilities... cool guy, cool songs.
@14sweetwater I'm sorry for your saddness. There is a whole ton of his stuff you should listen too for free here. Ask me and I'll recommend some of it.
I bought the album with this song on it when it was new (Excitable Boy, 1978) many of the tunes were played on WBCN Boston and it was a great album, I still have it.
@Circumpunk There was a lot of good stuff coming out around that time (except for disco, haha!) and this album was one of the best of the late 70's. WBCN Boston was a very well known FM station around the country at that time and was a trendsetter, it discovered and promoted a lot of good bands and they played all of the tunes from this album, the whole album was a hit ob BCN, radio was much freer at the time. Bill Lee is about an ex-Boston pitcher.
Just heard this for the first time while driving today. Kind of reminded me of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, so I'm glad to see that's even a recommended video :)
My 22yr old son heard me listening to this laughed and told me he remembered us singing along to Roland as I drove I drove him to kindergarden and how he got into trouble for singing the headless machine gunner song at school. Old too fast ,Dead too soon.
Always been a big fan of Warren, I felt so bad when he passed. We'll always have his music, I listen to him often and I know that would make him happy.
I saw Zevon a long time ago & he was totally awesome. Have loved him ever since. This is my favorite song by him. (well this & Lawyers, Guns & Money-- :) )

Some of the simplest music in the world. and yet, it is also some of the greatest just because he is singing it.
